The Master Programmer-Chapter 131: The Keys to the Kingdom 2
Back in his office, Jason sat down and got to work. The desk was a sleek, modern design—clean lines and minimal clutter, just the way he liked it. He reviewed financial reports and strategy proposals that had been drawn up by the AI-integrated system he had set up, his mind efficiently dissecting each piece of information, looking for ways to put it all back together and then make something great.
His diligence was paying off; the team he’d assembled was sharp and eager to execute his vision. Soon this Accelerator Division was going to be functioning at the optimal state and at that moment he could finally take a step back and watch this massive Beast grow.
Later in the afternoon, there was a knock at his door. Before Jason could respond, Samantha’s assistant stepped in, her presence both confident and deliberate.
She was dressed in a form-fitting pencil skirt and a crisp blouse, the ensemble accentuating her curves. Her dark hair was pinned back, but a few loose strands framed her face, softening her otherwise professional demeanour.
She held a stack of documents in her hands. "Mr. Cross," she began, her tone polite but curious as she handed out the files. "Ms. Ellis asked me to deliver this to you."
Jason gestured for her to approach, his focus shifting to the papers as she set them on his desk.
"What’s this?" he asked, scanning the first few pages. His brows lifted slightly in interest.
"It’s a revised contract agreement," the assistant explained. "Ms. Ellis thought it best to formalize things immediately. She tends to move quickly when it comes to things like this."
Jason’s smirk returned. Interesting. She was so quick. It was as if she was begging for Jason to take over all the problems for him. Or maybe it was a dare. She wanted to see just how serious he was. Just how impressive he was. After all, if it was something he had said in a fit of passion, then that would show the calibre of man he was.
It was unfortunate though. Jason was very serious about taking over this company. Soon she would be his employee. How funny how things like this happened.
The assistant tilted her head, her gaze lingering on him as he looked through the papers. "If I may ask…" She hesitated, drawing his attention. Jason tilted his head a bit, wondering why she was so talkative today. This might have been the first time they spoke too. Why was she being this friendly?
She took his attention as an invitation to continue, "Why does Ms. Ellis trust you this much?"
Jason leaned back in his chair, folding his hands behind his head. "Why wouldn’t she?"
The assistant’s lips curved into a sly smile as she leaned forward slightly, resting her hands on the desk. She inadvertently showed off some of her features even more as she did that, and Jason noticed the slight smirk coming to her face as she stood there.
"Let’s just say… it’s unusual for her to bring someone in with so much authority so quickly. You went from a new employee to a director in such a short time. It’s incredible. You must have impressed her in some way. I would love to take notes, and pick your brain if you have time for me."
Jason’s eyes glinted with amusement. "I’m capable. And she recognizes that." His tone was measured, confident and she nodded. If he was there in that office it must be true. This one statement of undeniable truth had cemented Jason in place. He was that guy.
The assistant’s expression didn’t waver. "Capable, indeed," she said softly. There was a knowing edge to her voice that Jason couldn’t ignore.
She… was interesting. Probing him like that as if she was doing it for herself. Could it be Samantha was testing him? Or maybe… Maybe this one just could not be trusted… Maybe she was too ambitious for her own good.
As he signed the documents, she shifted her weight, leaning on the desk in a way that accentuated her figure. Jason glanced up briefly, catching her watching him with an expression he couldn’t quite place.

"Was there anything else?" he asked his tone light but pointed. She was behaving way too weirdly, showing him her cleavage like that in such a blatant fashion. Jason did not believe that she was not doing it on purpose, and since she was doing it on purpose then it meant she had some intentions.
She straightened, smoothing her skirt slowly in a way that would have made Jason’s eyes follow them only to find himself gazing at her curvy body. But Jason’s eyes were trained at hers, just as hers were trained at his. They were both gauging each other at that moment.
"Just wanted to say…" she began with a soft smile. "Whatever you’re doing, it’s working. This place feels different since you arrived. Ms Ellis feels different too. She smiles more. And she’s way more productive due to your work in this division. Thank you."
Jason’s smirk deepened. "I’m glad to hear that. It’s not just about results; it’s about the environment we create." Again he tried deflecting from himself, realising that she was paying too much attention to him.
He even used the word "we" to lessen his presence from someone operating by himself to the group that was everyone in the company. He was trying to diminish his image by all means using his language. Hopefully, she understood the point. Do not pay attention to me.
She nodded, a small smile playing on her lips. "True. A good leader inspires loyalty. And you seem to have a way of… bringing out the best in people."
With that, she turned and walked out, her hips swaying slightly. Jason watched her go, shaking his head in amusement after the door closed. Weird. Was she making a move on him? He couldn’t tell. It was too early to tell. He would just have to see how things developed with her to understand what would happen next.
As the day wore on, Jason’s mind drifted back to Samantha. He wondered how her conversation with her father was progressing.
Knowing the man’s character from what he had inferred from Samantha and Celine and from literally meeting and seeing the man for only five seconds, Jason suspected he wouldn’t give up control easily. But Samantha had more fire in her than most people realized, and with Jason’s support, she’d find the strength to stand her ground.
Turning his attention to the contract again, Jason smirked. He would look over it and then after finding no issues with it and the situation in the company, he would sign it. And from that day on, he would be the primary shareholder of this place. And Samantha would be his employee... Should he call her to his office and get her to give him a massage one of these days?
Meanwhile, Samantha’s assistant stepped into the elevator. As the doors slid shut, she pulled out her phone and typed a message:
[It’s confirmed.]
[Jason Cross is supporting Samantha Ellis from behind.]
[I got a glance at the contract he was signing too.]
[He must be the hidden shareholder.]
She hit send, her lips curling into a subtle smile. The game was in motion. She had been in this company for a long time now. And finally, her access was showing itself to be useful to her true master.
She couldn’t wait to go back to his side. But before then, she would help him take over this little company. And then she would watch by his side as he took over more and more. After all, there were so many of these companies just begging to get swallowed up.
She was just happy to be of use to her master.
Later that evening, Jason arrived at Veronica’s place. After making it inside, he knocked on the door, and Veronica opened the door, her black silk robe clinging to her curves. Her blue eyes were sharp, but there was an undercurrent of vulnerability in her expression.
"Jason," she said, stepping aside to let him in. Jason soon noticed that something was wrong. He went in, his eyes staying locked on her. Jason had called Veronica on his way back home, and he had told her about what he was working on, which was helping Samantha with her situation.
And she had told him that she had something to say to him. Now that he was here, he couldn’t help but be taken aback. How serious was this?
"Veronica," he replied, his tone steady. "What’s going on?"
She closed the door, turning to face him. "It’s about Samantha," she began, her voice tinged with hesitation. "And her father."
Jason’s jaw tightened. "What about them?"
Veronica hesitated, then stepped closer, her fingers brushing against his arm. "I… I think he’s planning something. Something that could ruin everything you’ve built with her."
Jason’s eyes narrowed. "Tell me everything."
She hesitated, her blue eyes locking onto his. "He’s not just protecting his company. He’s protecting a secret. One that could destroy her… and you."
