The Master Programmer-Chapter 152: Cross Family Problems 2
He moved closer, his footsteps light against the hardwood floor. As he leaned over her, he gently brushed a strand of hair from her face.
"Beautiful," he murmured, his voice low and velvety, a tone designed to elicit a subconscious response. He noticed the slightest hitch in her breath and chuckled softly. "Faking again, are we? You’re so cute, V..."
Without waiting for a response, he scooped her up in his arms. Veronica let out a soft gasp, her eyes fluttering open just enough to meet him.
"Let’s get you to bed," Jason said, his voice soothing yet firm, a tone that left little room for argument. She watched him carry her away her heart racing like a little girl’s. He was taking complete control of the situation, brooking no argument and taking no questions or answers.
Veronica would have told him to stop, but she somewhat liked being carried like this, especially by Jason. She didnt even care that he may have been with other women on that day. She just loved it when she was around him.
Jason gave her a cheeky grin as he went up the stairs. His words were planned and executed to perfection. Veronica’s cheeks flushed, especially after being caught, called cute, and then picked up like a bunny or a toy, but she didn’t protest as he carried her to her bedroom.
SShemerely smiled and they gazed at each other gently like that for the longest time even as Jason entered the bedroom and walked over to the bed. Jason laid her down gently, his hands lingering on her shoulders before he pulled away. He perched on the edge of the bed, his eyes locked onto hers.
"How was your day, Mr Cross?" Veronica said to him, turning to lie on her side.
"Boring," Jason said sighing as he sat back. "I couldn’t wait to get back."
"Oh really?" Veronica said with raised eyebrows."Because I could have sworn that I felt something… You smelled fresh... too fresh. Almost like you passed by a place on your way back. Maybe it was a bathhouse, maybe it was another place. Whatever it was, it tells me one thing: something must have happened at your work."

Veronica gazed at Jason, this time with her cheeky grin and that immediately brought a chuckle out of Jason. She figured it out.
He did pass by a bathhouse on his way back. It felt like he was involved with too many women on that day. He just needed to clean himself up before coming back, partly because he felt a bit messy, but also partly because he wanted to respect her.
Well, Jason was happy she was okay with him having multiple women, but it still felt weird. If he looked back to more than a month ago, he would never have imagined himself having a conversation like this in front of this woman who he had always found to be extremely attractive.
"You’re amazing, you know that?" he said, his voice soft but charged with emotion. He took her hand in his, brushing his lips against her knuckles. "I love you, Veronica. I don’t even know how to show it sometimes."
Veronica’s eyes shimmered as she finally dropped the pretence of sleep. "Jason," she whispered, her voice thick with emotion. She reached up to cup his face. "Don’t leave. Stay with me tonight. I want to hear about your day."
Jason smiled, his expression softening. "Anything for you," he said, his voice a quiet promise. The night passed in a haze of tender kisses, whispered confessions, and shared warmth. There was no funny business this time. Just cuddling and talking.
Veronica accused Jaosn of not being romantic and Jason smirked with guilt at some point, but it did make him realise something. He rarely went out with the women in his life, taking them on dates or going to places to eat or do shopping. He should do that more often.
"So why don’t we go out sometime? On a nice dinner date. Just me in a fitting suit and you in a sexy dress. What do you think?" Jason had said kissing her cheek with a smirk on his face. Veronica had been surprised at first and then a bit anxious. She had said that thing before just because she wanted to tease him, but now that it was going to be real...
Being seen in public with Jason was...
Seeing the hesitation and anxiety in her form, Jason smirked and then pinched her cheeks, "That’s what you get for teasing me," He had said to her, making her pout and start playfighting with him.
At the end of the night, the two of them were sleeping next to each other, fully clothed in their sleepwear while cuddling in a spooning position, the atmosphere sweet and the bond between them more real than ever.
As dawn approached, Jason lay awake, his mind already racing with plans. He had meant what he said about going out more with his women. An auction was happening tomorrow, and he knew exactly who he wanted to take.
He glanced at Veronica, who slept soundly beside him, her hair spread across the pillow like a crown. He leaned down, pressing a soft kiss to her forehead.
"You’re safe with me," he whispered.
But even as he said it, his thoughts drifted to the other women in his life. Samantha. Isabella. Emily. Mia. Each one held a piece of his heart, and each one was a part of his growing empire. He would protect them all, no matter the cost. He had to ensure that they grew well by his side, that way they would be mainstays in his growing empire.
As he rose to leave the room, a chill ran down his spine. A sense of foreboding he couldn’t shake.
Tim Cross was someone who was going to be a real thorn in his side not because of him, but because of the people behind him, the Cross Family. He had dealt with Tim, turning him into a freak of nature, but that was going to galvanise the family behind him to come at Jason in full swing.
Well, that was fine. Let them come. Even if they didnt come for him they would come in the future. And even if they never came, Jason would come for them. He had unfinished business with them after all. That was the case with him and it would forever be the case with the Cross Family.

Martha paced the room, her fury boiling over. "Jason Cross," she hissed, her voice venomous. "You think you can take what’s ours? You’ll regret ever crossing this family."
Behind her, the snake-eyed man leaned against the wall, his grin never faltering. "Don’t worry, Aunt Martha," he said, his voice oozing with confidence. "I’ll find him. And when I do, he won’t know what hit him. I already did a bit of research on him. I know where he works. Samantha Ellis is not a tough nut to crack, but we can make her bend the knee, make her give us Jason. There are other ways as well..."
Martha stopped pacing, her eyes narrowing as a cruel smile spread across her face. "Good," she said. "Because when we’re done with him, he’ll wish he’d never been born," After saying this, she looked at the man.
Frank was around too, and he smirked. This new son of his was way too competent, unlike his other one, who was too soft-hearted. "Be ready for tonight. You have to be seen in public with the Ellis girl. This cannot fall through."
"Of course, Father. You can count on me." said the snake-eyed bastard with a glint in his eyes. This arranged marriage was a method of legitimising him in the circles of people in this city. It had to go through smoothly, that way his plans of taking over Cross Capital would also be moving in full swing.
