Chapter 620

[We are one.]

She sounded like she cared for Della. But even if the care and gentleness were betrayed in her tone, she gritted her teeth and glared at Davey after spitting out blood again.

"Human, I will definitely shred you to pieces myself one day."

After making the threatening promise, she created a violet swamp of corruption right where she had fallen on the ground. Since she herself was one and the same with the swamps of corruption, all of them that were spread all over the world were essentially her domain.

And so Davey had a strong feeling that she was trying to escape.

Boom!

But before her power could fully manifest, a massive shockwave spread out from every directionnorth, east, south, and west ultimately restraining her movements.

"Ugh?!"

The brief interruption rendered her unable to use her powers any longer.

Davey had prepared the Anti-Demonic Barrier ahead of time, thanks to the beings from the Spirit Realm he had successfully convinced. While its real purpose was something else, and even if it could not completely suppress the power of the Princess of the Abyss, it was enough to foil Melts attempt to escape.

"I say again, there's no grave without a story."

"..."

"I won't listen to your last words."

Melt's body swelled like a huge chunk of meat and eventually started to evaporate away.

As Davey watched, he thought of the true story he first heard from Urd. There was a power struggle that existed among the Princesses of the Abyss, and he had a guess that perhaps Melt and Della were involved as well.

"We are... o...ne..."

Even as she was dying, Melt reached out her hand toward where Della was before she vanished.

Davey then immediately casted the Saint Miracle after watching the two Princesses of the Abyss perish.

"Davey! Your hand... Huh?" Perserque, who had been calling out to him with concern, had a look of puzzlement on her face. Her gaze then flickered from his hand, then to his face. "Why are you fine?"

It wasnt a surprise that she was puzzled. After all, until just a moment ago, it was almost like he was about to die from the infection he got.

"Did you forget? Those with the stigmata are immune to diseases."

If he didnt have the stigmata, Davey would have been in very deep trouble.

"So, the reason you kept changing the temperature with Ice Age magic was..."

"It's because of Melt's power."

Della's disease itself was not a significant problem. However, in the aftermath of their fight with Melt, she had corrupted his resistance for a brief moment, creating a weakness. For this reason, the battle became more difficult than Davey initially expected.

"But more importantly, it was for you.The Ice Age magic not only slowed the disease within my body but it was also used for your sake." Davey lifted a hand and caressed her cheek. "Do you trust me?"

"I guess so"

"Then that's that." He chuckled, his arms snaking around her waist in an embrace. Having her in a comfortable and warm hold, his eyes then fell shut.

Perserques body was different from that of ordinary humans. That was why when it came to her, things required more thought and consideration than what would be required for a normal person.

For example, many parasites and pathogens lived within a normal human body. But she was different, since her body itself was crafted so carefully that there was nearly no room for such parasites to survive, just like a beautifully vibrant but poisonous fruit.

So what would happen to the part of her body or biological processes which benefited from the presence of parasites? The answer was simple. Her body itself incorporated that function. Again, she was neither human nor genuinely demonic, so she was something slightly different from a creature that had been created and evolved within the rules set by Goddess Freyja.

Davey began to infuse devil mana into Perserque's body instead of holy power.

"For diseases specifically, devil mana is more efficient. On top of that, your devil mana and your compatibility with it are outstanding."

The problem would be quickly resolved if everything alive within her body beside her very being was eradicated, since the root of the disease consisted of hundreds of millions of pathogenic viruses that thrived from Della's power. If the viruses died and disappeared, then there could be no disease.

Shh

She began to be purified as the devil mana spread and coursed through her body. The viruses that had been invading her body began to fall apart one by one until they all completely vanished.

It was not impossible to simply burn out all life other than Perserques with meticulous use of power. Davey was sure of this since her physical form was created by him. And so when it came to her body, he knew better than she did.

Davey then regenerated some parts of her body that had already been affected by the battle, returning her to her original form.

"Now I truly feel the fact that I cannot bear children..."

Her body was like an artificially created living being. And so, it would take a miracle for her to bear children.

"At least it's better than the monthly stress, isn't it?"

"Why dont you understand my desire to bear your child even if it hurts?" Perserque muttered bitterly.

Davey slowly raised a finger and poked her nose before carrying her on his back.

"Ugh..."

"If it hurts, tell me."

"..." Perserque's face turned red.

"Let's think about children later."

She momentarily stared blankly at him before erupting into a bout of soft chuckles.

* * *

The territory of the Ak Rim Sect, or what used to be the Ak Rim Sect, had now become a land of death where life could not dwell anymore.

The influence of Lavatein, which scorched the earth, had vanished, but the landscape had already been razed to the ground from Lavateins strike against the Princesses of the Abyss. The place had truly become utterly inhospitable to natural life or humans. Although Lavatein's flames could be extinguished directly, it was not worth it to use the jewel to control the flames, because the fire had burnt too far beneath the surface. Furthermore

"Just as I thought."

The changes began to manifest immediately after Melt died. A vast swamp of corruption began to spread, starting where Davey had been. There was not enough power to corrupt Daveys body instantly, but for ordinary humans, animals, or inanimate objects, it was an utter disaster, akin to hell on earth. Even for the proudest of warriors, unless protected by special powers, merely approaching the swamp of corruption meant instantaneous death.

"It's growing larger than I thought."

From where Melt's corpse laid, a vast swamp gradually spread. It was simple to eradicate the swamp itself through dark magic that could be used to erase the space. So then the swamp would simply be scooped out. But dealing with the problem this way would just be a temporary fix, because eradicating all the contamination that had spread throughout the land would be exceedingly hard.

But it was the only option Davey could currently come up with.

"Are you just going to watch? Come out now."

At his call, a seemingly nervous Celestial Maiden, who was dressed in pure white, approached him. But unlike the first they met where she was accompanied by two other maidens, two men trailed behind her this time.

"The man in the Lower Realm claiming to have the Royal Seal of the Immortal King, it seems to be you."

Though their demeanor gave an impression of arrogance, they were still careful with their words when they spoke to Davey. He knew it was because they had no choice. Because not only did Davey turn a region into hell with just two swords, but he also knew how to open the gate to the Spirit Realm.

They were well aware of how much damage they would incur if they made an enemy out of Davey. They were, as one might say, quick on the draw, or insufferably cunning if put less kindly.

So admittedly, Davey had indeed prepared an excessive performance to display his power since he knew of their presence, having noticed it while he was dealing with Della.

"And you are?"

Sounding and looking so solemn, the two men took turns to answer.

"The Thunder Envoy."

"The Cloud Envoy.

Davey then asked the Celestial Maiden, "Right. And the promised thing?"

"Considering the severity of this event, the Supreme Lord has permitted it, deeming it beyond a mere issue of the Lower Realm." She answered eloquently without any mention of the Royal Seal, which was a significant reason behind their agreement to his offer.

It was evident that a lot of Spirit Realm entities descended to the Lower Realm considering the Anti-Demonic Barrier that had been activated.

"Let me make this clear. Don't take rash actions that could lead to conflict with the Lower Realm."

"...."

"I won't have any reason to protect you if that happens."

Don't forget. Regardless of any delusions you entertain, I am, after all, human, Davey thought.

The Celestial Maiden swallowed hard, looking tense. Then she took out a small topaz and offered it to Davey.

"Jewel of Eight Deities. But the Supreme Lord believes you won't be able to handle it properly..."

"At least, it must be less complicated than the spells Woochi used," Davey spoke calmly as he put the jewel in his pocket.

He then pulled out an object from the Pocket Plane. It was a Magic Sword he had received beforehand from Goddess Freyja. It was Woochi's tool.

"So, how are you planning to use it?"

"Just watch. I'll show you that grand miracle you're so fond of," Davey answered with a cool and calm tone.

Then, without bothering to wait for a reply, he gripped the crimson Magic Sword, knelt on one knee, then started to manifest his qi.

Boom!

Daveys will summoned the Four Divine Beasts. All of them surrounded him, standing in the four cardinal directions. To the west was the Azure Dragon. To the east, the White Tiger. To the south, the Vermilion Bird. And to the north, the Black Tortoise.

The beings from the Spirit Realm gazed in wonder at the Divine Beasts, exclaiming, "Indeed. The epitome of Lower Realm human sorcery... The Divine Beasts... But summoning them should be impossible..."

"It's possible," Davey muttered shortly as he infused magical energy into the Magic Sword.

Then the talismans Davey had prepared in advance spread out around him in a circle, positioning themselves onto the ground. This caused the power to intensify. The Divine Beasts then realized what he was about to do, so they growled their unique roars, channeling their power into the Magic Sword he held.

Beep.
