The Max Level Hero Has Returned!-Chapter 983
Chapter 983
“How long are you just going to watch?”
The Spirit Queen, Yuriana, spoke sharply to Dokgo Jun.
"Our youngest, of all people, has to face Odin in Atrellia? This might not end unless one of them disappears."
"Yeah. Hic! Why Atrellia, of all places?"
Dokgo Jun chugged his drink. It was something that even Davey only drank in moderation—an extreme liquor strong enough to make even heroes drunk.
Nirvana Brew.
Eva called this unique drink by a ridiculous name, picking Nirvana Brew MK-2.
"Damn it. Not even this is enough to get me drunk anymore."
"This was inevitable from the start. Isn't that right, Dokgo Jun?"
Leaning against the wall with his legs crossed, the Sword God Ares shrugged.
"Rho Aias, if what you say is true..."
Rho Aias, who had been silently listening, spoke in a trembling voice.
"In the end... everyone must bear the consequences of their own choices."
That was the burden placed upon Davey—the trial that came as a result of his own stubbornness.
"The Will of the Primordial, the trial of the Goddess Freyja"
"A trial born from the forceful revival of Odin, who was supposed to disappear. At least there’s a solution."
The King of Martial Arts Ylgr clenched and unclenched his fists as he muttered. His wife, the Spirit Queen Yuriana, leaned against his arm.
"For now, let’s just trust in him, Yuriana. The best thing we can do is make sure his actions don’t disrupt the balance of the world.”
"That damn fucking bastard. He usually pulls things off just fine, so why is he taking so damn long this time?"
"He’s probably being cautious."
Hypocria calmly interrupted Daphne.
"I told him that we shouldn’t see each other again... but at his core, he’s someone who’s always craving connection."
Hypocria sighed, recalling when Davey had first arrived.
"Well then..."
With serious, worried, and even slightly guilty expressions, the gathered heroes exchanged glances.
"I’ll bet twenty jade stones that this is over in four days."
At Dokgo Jun’s remark, Daphne raised her hand.
"Count me in for four days too."
Ylgr and Yuriana also raised their hands.
"Two days."
"Two days for me as well."
"Of course you two would be perfectly in sync. How’s a single person supposed to bear watching the couple's love you two have going on?”
As Hypocria grumbled, Daphne grinned mischievously.
"You could take this damn pointy-ears sitting next to me, if you’re feeling lonely."
"Uh, no thanks."
"H-Hey, Cria...”
"I told you not to call me that."
Bow Lord Apollo flinched at the cold response.
"I’ll bet on five days."
As Hypocria spoke, Rho Aias, who had been silently observing, suddenly slammed her hands on the table.
"Hey!! Is everyone seriously making wagers at a time like this?!"
Her outburst made everyone freeze.
With Odin gone, she was now the strongest in the hall. She was powerful enough to make every hero there cower.
Not that anyone was actually afraid of her, necessarily—they simply respected her sublime and noble character.
"Davey is out there suffering, and you’re all making bets like it’s some kind of game!"
Her voice trembled as she spoke.
Even Daphne looked a bit guilty as she mumbled, "S-Sorry, Rho Aias. But we believe in him, so..."
"If you trust him, then really look at him! Observe his current state! The power he’s using! The situation he's in right now!"
She then reached into the large sleeves of her robe and pulled out a small pouch.
"Ten days. And I’ll bet two hundred jade stones on it."
"You..."
Rho Aias flinched in response.
"Sorry. If you're scared, feel free to back out."
“...”
There wasn’t a single sane person in the room.
* * *
The flash of light lasted only for a moment, but its aftermath was overwhelming.
Loki Devan wasn’t just some lunatic with a penchant for mass slaughter.
He was a higher-, or in a way, a lower-quality psycho.
One thing was for sure—he was a different kind of psycho with his grandiose, arrogant, and absurd goals.
He had declared that he would erase every form of power classified under non-physical laws—elemental mana, devil mana, holy mana, and even obscure forces like qi or dragontongue. Not even the power of taboo could be an exception.
Through that process, he intended to erase all beings influenced by mana.
Davey swung his sword, and a scar that looked like it had been slashed thousands—no, tens of thousands—of times suddenly appeared in the sky.
“Gaaah!! Cough!”
A demigod-level being, temporarily in a physical body.
One of the celestial constructs formed by the stars themselves, namely Capricorn, coughed up blood and collapsed.
Its body had been completely exposed to the cyan-red blade energy that then tore through its defenses, instantly dealing a fatal wound.
“You... monster.”
Capricorn had tried to block the attack with its own demigod-level power.
Unfortunately for it, Davey had previously studied the ancient slabs detailing its abilities and gained at least a surface-level understanding.
- When its hand reached out, everything that attacked it ceased any and all movement.
- When its will was extended, all things feared it and recoiled.
Davey couldn’t help but think how the ancient tablet’s phrasing had been so frustratingly vague and poetic.
Still, it was enough to grasp an understanding, with the descriptions being a direct testament to its abilities.
A sudden, inexplicable chill ran down his spine. He felt as if someone was speaking about him.
Constellation Capricorn wasn’t particularly powerful when it came to offense.
But every attack, or anything at all that sought to harm it, inexplicably feared it and was prevented from landing a blow.
Simply put, if someone so much as hurled a Fireball in its direction, its innate power would cause the spell to experience a miraculous sentient fear, then scatter or veer away from it entirely.
Naturally, even the blade energy of Super Ribbon should’ve been subject to the same limitations.
And yet—
“Capricorn?!”
The moment the constellation Capricorn went down so effortlessly, the expressions of the other constellations turned pale.
Even so, it had served its purpose—Loki had survived.
“What a truly peculiar power.”
Even though Davey had only exerted moderate strength, the fact that it had nonetheless blocked the authority of Super Ribbon was astonishing.
Of course, if it had endured one strike, the man simply just had to strike again.
Fwoosh!!
Like a raging inferno, thick cyan-red blade energy surged along Super Ribbon.
Sensing the impending crisis, the others began to move instinctively.
The constellations, having descended into human vessels, couldn’t conceal their shock as they scrambled to shield Loki and retreat.
‘And where do you think you’re going?’
Krkk!
Davey reached out with his empty left hand, curling his fingers as if grasping the air before pulling it down.
The empty void twisted violently as the veins in one of his eyes bulged, seemingly on the verge of bursting.
“Just sit tight for a moment!”
Without hesitation, he yanked the space downward.
Simultaneously, rifts spread as the air wavered like a mirage.
Krrrkkk!
Once Hercules disappeared and the world realigned itself, the power forged under the taboo of Goddess Freyja, the power of taboo, had momentarily stirred and come into being.
Boom!
Then, as if an invisible ceiling had suddenly formed in the void, those trying to flee were smacked and abruptly repelled back down.
“Gaaa?!”
“What the hell?! What is this absurd—?!”
Alarmed by the sudden shift, Aquarius hurriedly gathered water.
Within an instant, compressed blades of high-pressure water formed. However, by the time it had pinpointed Davey’s location, he was already within striking distance.
Squelch!!!
“Gaaa!!!”
Super Ribbon slipped from his hand and glided through the air as if alive, before impaling itself into its chest, pinning Aquarius in place.
Davey then channeled his power into the massive hammer he had just retrieved.
‘Three strikes. That’s all it’s going to take.’
Aquarius momentarily frozen in fear, hastily attempting to mount a counterattack. But before it could even extend its hand, the colossal sledgehammer Corona Destroyer was already hurtling toward its face.
Thud!!!
The shockwaves ripped through the air and whipped up hurricanes.
It went flying, rolling and crashing into the ground. The image of a damaged shield appeared on its body, representing its broken defense.
‘One down, two to go.’
Constellations Aquarius and Pisces had initially enjoyed Capricorn’s protection.
Since the constellation Capricorn wasn’t entirely destroyed yet, their power still resisted Davey’s attacks. Even so, he had simply overpowered them with brute force, forcibly affecting them beyond their defense threshold.
Of course, their defenses were nonetheless formidable, and so, he had put in more effort to break through.
So, if their defense was strong, then he would just destroy that defense first.
“No!!”
Dazed from the initial strike, Aquarius tried to escape.
But before it could succeed, Davey stomped down on its right shoulder, pinning it in place. He then held onto Super Ribbon, still embedded in its chest, before pulling it out and stepping back to admire his handiwork.
Thud!!
“Aaah...!”
“That makes two.”
Another strike had landed, echoing like a massive sonic boom. The already fractured shield split further, cracking halfway.
Aquarius, recognizing the implications, turned pale with fear—it knew that if it took one more hit, that would be the end.
“This really is an interesting power you have here.”
Davey couldn’t let something so fascinating be left alone.
Ignoring the stumbling, hastily retreating Aquarius, Davey turned toward Capricorn, who was still writhing on the ground with its body split in half.
At that moment, 7th Circle Ice Spears rained down toward it.
Individually, they were just 7th Circle spells; there was nothing particularly remarkable about them.
Davey frowned, stopping his attempt to Dispel Capricorn’s assault, and simply swung Super Ribbon, slicing each projectile apart one by one.
“You’ve got good instincts, kid. I expected you to be strong, but... not this strong.”
Davey ignored the remark and stretched his hand toward Capricorn.
[Devour]
Crunch! Crack!
An invisible force snaked out from his hand, biting off the power Capricorn possessed.
It instinctively resisted, but the authority of Predatory Assimilation was too absolute for a mere demigod construct to withstand.
Crunch! Crack!
As the authority faded, Davey attempted to tame the peculiar energy of the constellation and tailor it for himself.
The authority of Predatory Assimilation was able to consume non-physical powers. Its targets were limited only by the threshold of his mental fortitude and strength of mind.
The new power furiously fought back. But, just like the time with Cancer, it blended smoothly with the actual authority granted by Goddess Freyja merging almost seamlessly.
He found it funny that he had once considered the authority of Goddess Freyja mostly a nuisance, only for it to turn out to be useful after all.
‘Hey, everyone. We've got a new recruit.’
Along with his will, he activated his devil mana, elemental mana, and the demonic force he had obtained as the Demon King. The combined powers prodded at the power of Capricorn.
‘Welcome aboard. First time inside a body like this?’
“Die!!”
Seeing Davey leisurely absorbing Capricorn’s power, Aquarius seized the opportunity to launch an attack.
Swish!
Rip!
Wherever the streams of water passed, they sliced through the air cleanly as if a razor had cut through fine silk.
The sheer potency of the attack was beyond what could be expected from mere water manipulation. Compared to the Water Spirit King Ellaim, the attack was on an entirely different level.

Davey hadn't yet grasped the principle behind it, but the water felt alive.
Yet, despite its devastating power, the quantity of water it wielded was surprisingly small. It was as if it were drawing from a contained source rather than controlling the water in the atmosphere.
Whoosh!!
Thin, beam-like streams of water shot out and wrapped tightly around his legs.
"Gotcha!!"
Aquarius flared its eyes as it clenched its hand into a fist.
The water instantly shifted, forming jagged spikes on its surface. They surged back toward Davey in an instant.
Splash, splash!!
A series of flesh-tingling squelching sounds rang out as the water closed in on him like an iron maiden. Through the hazy blur of shifting water, Davey could see Aquarius approach, its breath measured and heavy.
“Damn it. Even though we’re in a human vessel, I can’t believe Capricorn actually lost to a human...”
Seizing the opportunity of it being lost in thought, Davey suddenly made a move.
"Aquarius, watch out!!"
Boom!!
It only had the time to flinch before he had already shattered its ultra-high-density water barrier with his bare hands. Shooting forward, he closed the distance and swung the Corona Destroyer at it for the third strike.
If Davey hadn’t absorbed Capricorn’s power to counteract it, it would’ve taken four, maybe five strikes to break through its defenses.
But now that it had lost that protection, it was just another constellation inhabiting a human vessel.
Crack!
Its protective barrier finally split apart completely.
“N-No way... My defense—?!”
It tried desperately to summon more water to shield itself, but the liquid no longer followed its will.
Davey then grabbed it by the hair, tilting its head back as he grinned.
"Three strikes—you’re out.”
Boom!!
Another constellation had lost its light, snuffed out even quicker than Capricorn.
Pisces, the last remaining constellation guarding Loki, trembled violently with its face pale full of dread.
“So, I wasn’t mistaken after all.”
"Starting to see things clearly now?"
“What are you...?” Pisces questioned with disbelief and fear.
“What do you think?”
The moment Davey moved, Pisces shoved Loki away.
But it was too late to save itself.
Davey was already beside it, smiling as he grabbed its arm.
With a sharp yank, he pulled Pisces forward—driving Super Ribbon straight into its heart.
"Davey O'Rowane."
A strange-colored blood splattered outward.
As Pisces collapsed, Davey casually kicked its fish-headed body away and turned to face Loki.
"This isn't over yet, is it?"
"Of course not. I’ve heard enough about you to know what kind of existence you are."
“...”
"From the very beginning, I never intended to fight you with force.”
