The Mercenary of Prestigious Summit Academy-Chapter 16: The Godent Assessment
Chapter 16: The Godent Assessment
What happens to the mundane (non-godent entity) if they are 'directly' hit by any offensive godent ability?
It was not exactly forbidden to gossip about matters regarding the fate of the transgressors' relatives, but it seemed that whatever happened to them did not spark deep concerns among the majority of students as they pondered the question written on the whiteboard under the Godent Ethics.
So what if they were parents who either had a son or daughter?
Their blood sinned by breaking the law; it was deemed unforgivable.
Empathy was expensive in this world.
Others had no time to mourn for those whom they did not know.
This weekend's assessment and the Summit Banquet were on everybody's mind; it would determine their academy life, in the long run, depending on the connections they would establish, which was especially true for first-year students and the transfer ones.
"I still can't wrap my head around it."
Aeon heard the familiar cold voice of the icy princess sitting beside him.
According to her sources, there was nothing unordinary about Aeon's background, though his skills when fighting Cain were commendable even in her eyes.
However, Yuridika... and perhaps some others, would inevitably find it questionable how someone like him was tasked to protect the heir of the Eurasia Grand Agency.
"We're in class," Aeon whispered succinctly, indicating that whatever was running in Yuridika's head was in the wrong place.
"Sure, sure. But since the assessment's coming up, I guess I'll get to know you better."
Aeon's amethyst eyes were fixated on the whiteboard, as well as on his homeroom professor, Professor Amy, who also happened to be Class 3-A's Godent Ethics professor.
"I see. I should be glad that an heir of a world corporation has taken interest in nobody like me."
Yuridika snorted.
"Why? Are you going to deny it? I haven't had a girl chase me this much-"
It was then that Aeon heard a pen break nearby.
Subconsciously, what was in her grasp was shattered as Yuridika couldn't help but grin.
"Shut your trap, you two. I can't focus in class."
Seated at the central rear of the class, Alina interjected, causing Aeon and Yuridika to gradually fall silent.
After some time, Professor Amy asked for their papers to be collected, which at the same time was followed up by calling a name to share how they answered the question.
"Yuridika, how about you tell us what happens to non-godents after being hit by offensive godent ability?" Professor Amy asked.
For some reason, her tone was sharp... something Aeon and some others noticed.
Yuridika stood up and slowly opened her mouth.
"We do not know why the Goddess caused such a natural law to happen, but any ordinary humans hit by offensive godent ability would not die or even feel any pain."
Professor Amy then let out a follow-up question.

"That's generally correct. Let's say there's a scenario... a blade manifested through star mana was used to cut an ordinary human, what would happen to any possible severe limbs or the blood spilled?"
Knowing the answer to this question, Yuridika continued, "Body Regression – the process in which the supposedly damaged limbs or spilled blood of an ordinary human is invalidated, making it seem that nothing transpired at all."
In other words, even before the ordinary human hit by offensive godent ability could process what had just happened, he or she would be already healed... as if the attack did not take place to begin with.
"Very good. But you have to understand..."
After gesturing for Yuridika to take her seat, Professor Amy added,
"That such process could not be considered as 'healing.' Similar to how it is officially termed 'body regression,' it means that the mundane's state is reverted to before the attack even hits. Got it?"
The students of Class 3-A nodded their heads in unison.
As the last subject of the day, and as the homeroom professor of Class 3-A, Professor Amy began to advise her students regarding the Godent Assessment tomorrow – Saturday, and the next day, Sunday, before the Summit Banquet.

The day before Alina met Aeon in her private lodging to discuss the matters regarding the Godent Assessment.
Within the premises of the vast Summit Academy, specifically the very top of the Summit Tower known as the Hall of Glory, several students of noble status gathered.
However, if there's a presence uninvolved, it's the heir of the Eurasia Grand Agency.
Simply put, it was a convention about the very person whose presence couldn't be found.
"Is this even necessary?" Yura Alperion had a frustrated expression, her gaze fixated on multiple hovering holographic screens projecting individuals that were not in the academy.
"You know this won't end well, father. I don't want to sugarcoat things, which means that we know we'll be betraying each other the moment we have a grasp on the M-Rev File from Alina's hand."
Meanwhile, Yuridika glanced at the silhouette of her father's projection. Her expression was displeased.
After all, an alliance was officially requested to corner Alina... to make her submit whatever was in her possession.
Aside from Asahina Orion, the oddball librarian-like girl roaming the academy at her whim, and Alina known as the Silent Judge, every heir of their respective world corporation was in this room, which included a few faces obscured by the dark.
"Well, what can we do? It'll be harder to move on things when we are at each other's throats. I think this is the best and doable plan to get ahold of the file, right?" Yuri Belserion said.
Knowing the mysterious file allegedly possessing critical information about the Goddess herself, the alliance would make it easier for them to move freely against their 'target.'
It was one against all possible fronts.
"Then... if all our parents agreed..." The heir of the Gemini Universal Medicine, Han Anastasia, an 18-year-old student of Class 3-A, addressed everybody in the room.
"Should we finalize the plan for the Summit Banquet then?" He added.
"We will leave it all to you." Subsequently, the word of trust echoed from the projections.
Then, after the call was turned off, Yuridika reluctantly opened up something unprecedented.
"What should we do about the mercenary following her like a loyal dog?"

The first day of the Godent Assessment.
In the Godent Assessment Hall, as Yura and Yuri were bickering against each other about Alina this and that, the evaluation of the students finally began.
"Now, this will be done by tens. You will step forward inside the star capsule you're seeing in front of you, and after some time, it will determine the following data through corresponding colorization – whether you've become a godent; or if you already are one, then what type of a godent you are... and the precise amount of star mana accumulated in your soul." The voice of the professor assigned to this particular task echoed throughout the hall.
After some time, as the first years were done with faces of delight and hope, the third years lined up by tens and were called.
It was then that Aeon, who refused Alina's offer to cancel his assessment for the sake of secrecy, took a step inside the star capsule that Yuridika, standing nearby, couldn't help but doubt what her eyes were seeing.
Beside every star capsule was a monitor measuring the individual on aforementioned godent aspects.
"Huh...?
She mumbled in utter confusion, seeing Aeon's assessment result.
