The Necromancer is amassing troops like crazy in the apocalypse-Chapter 524 - 433, I Was Wrong
Chapter 524: Chapter 433, I Was Wrong
The tongue stretched like taffy, being pulled long and thin from the corpse’s mouth.
Wu Heng was startled at the sudden sight.
But he quickly realized what was happening.
Someone was using a tamed beast to dispose of the bodies.
With an empty swing of his arm, Wu Heng sent a broken chair spinning towards the creature.
The tamed beast immediately released the corpse’s tongue and took flight to evade.
Seeing the skeleton attendant rush forward with its sword, the beast turned and frantically flew out the open doorway.
Glenda and Xiao Xiao were about to give chase when Wu Heng spoke,
“Xiao Xiao, go see where it flies to and who’s behind this. Glenda, stay here and keep watch.”

Both ghosts nodded, vanished from sight, with Xiao Xiao pursuing the tamed beast.
Glenda flew straight up into the sky to monitor the surroundings.
Killing a tamed beast was actually not difficult.
But it was of little significance.
Finding the beast’s owner would be far more valuable.
The ghosts followed suit.
Wu Heng quickly moved forward to examine the bodies on the ground.
Three had their tongues torn out, one had its mouth stretched open, while another remained intact.
Wu Heng took out several straw mats and ordered, “Wrap them up.”
Kerim stepped forward, rolling up the bodies one by one.
Wu Heng collected them into his space ring.
Outside, large numbers of skeletons, carrying blood-streaked corpses, were coming from two directions.
The bodies were systematically placed at the doorway.
More than twenty in total, each one bearing multiple cuts.
He took out all the straw mats from his ring, wrapped two bodies together, and stored everything back into the space ring.
Once everything was taken care of,
he reopened the boundary door, sending all the skeletons back,
carrying Millicent and vanishing into the night.
…
Elsewhere.
A figure quickly approached a building on Lighthouse Street.
A gentle knock on the door, and he walked right in.
Illuminating stones lit up the entire room.
A handsome man with brown hair and green eyes looked uncertainly at his subordinate walking in, “You have results already?”
Their plan had two approaches.
Either the target would go out to sea to pay a ransom, or they’d locate the expansion area.
They had anticipated the target would need about two days to act,
whether gathering funds or conducting an investigation.
But now it seemed they had moved much earlier than estimated, capturing someone at twilight and making moves by nightfall.
The figure at the door paused before stating solemnly, “Lord Greco, the mission failed. They killed everyone we had prepared, and took the woman away.”
Upon hearing this news, a surge of panic shot through the brown-haired man.
Without evidence, there was little to fear from the Guild, but any actual proof could implicate them with the formidable organization.
Damn it, how could a necromancer fail?
“Did Imilo personally take part?” asked Greco, skeptical.
“It was that necromancer; he summoned many skeletons and killed all our ambushing men,” the subordinate trembled as he spoke.
“How can that be? Lighthouse Street is my turf; how could he command skeletons? You’re lying,” Greco retorted.
“Lord, I saw it myself through the eyes of the tamed beast, how could I lie to you?” protested the subordinate, his voice rising.
Greco frowned, pondering with beads of sweat forming on his forehead.
His gaze swept over the other man, “Where’s your tamed beast?”
“I sent it flying in the opposite direction. It won’t lead anyone here,” said the subordinate.
Greco nodded and took out a bag of coins from his space ring, tossing it onto the table in front of him, “Here are a hundred gold coins, enough for a lifetime. Leave this place.”
Seeing the bag, the subordinate’s face lit up. He moved to approach but then halted, “Lord, please throw it to me, and I’ll be on my way.”
Greco sneered, “When have I ever shortchanged you?”
After saying that, he grabbed the bag and threw it high towards the subordinate.
The latter, eyes fixed on the bag, reached out to catch it.
Bang! The sound of a strong crossbow firing — in an instant, a crossbow arrow pierced his chest.
Then, Greco’s figure leapt up, appearing at the side like a shadow in the night, his longsword severing the man’s neck.
Greco quickly wrapped the body in the bedsheet and stored it in his space ring.
He cursed under his breath, “Idiot, to mess up with a necromancer like that, you all deserve to die.”
He sat back down at the table, deep in thought.
His mind raced with potential solutions.
“I need to leave the island first, negotiate with the Guild later.”
“Yes, before the Guild catches on, I must get out of here.”
…
At the harbor.
The guard in charge looked puzzledly at Wu Heng and his attendant behind him.
Then his brow furrowed slightly as he glanced at what the attendant was carrying on his shoulder.
Although covered with a black cloth, it was clear there was a person being carried, a woman with long hair.
“Deputy Steward, what is this about?” asked the guard, confused.
If you’re going to kidnap a woman, at least do it somewhere secluded.
Striding in so brazenly, even for a Deputy Steward, seemed a bit much.
Wu Heng responded directly, “Go, arrange for someone to notify the Guild. Tell them I have results from my investigation and request the Steward to come here.”
The Steward?
This wasn’t about kidnapping a woman after all.
“Yes, Deputy Steward,” the lead guard instructed someone behind him and immediately several people set out with torches towards the center of town.
Wu Heng continued, “And tell the commercial harbor to record anyone trying to board a ship or leave the harbor before dawn.”
“Yes, Deputy Steward,” the guard complied and took leave.
Wu Heng then boarded his own merchant ship.
He entered a cabin.
He had Kerim throw Millicent onto the bed.
“Millicent, can you hear me?” Wu Heng pinched her face, continuing his inquiries.
Millicent still showed no response.
Just like a corpse, her body was unresponsive,
Only her eyes occasionally focused briefly, seeming slightly better than when he first saw her.
“Don’t tell me she’s gone mad!”
In this world, elixirs have many functions.
Aside from potions with positive effects, many others with various functions were developed as well.
It’s no surprise there’s a potion that dulls one’s wits without causing death.
He took out another bottle of Detoxifying Potion and poured it down Millicent’s throat.
Seeing that it still had no effect.
He pondered for a moment.
He carried Millicent in his arms, knelt on the ground, with the upper body leaning on the windowsill, and her backside facing outward.
Millicent was already corpulent, and now, her exaggerated waist-to-hip ratio was laid bare before his eyes.
Like a ripe, plump peach.
Drawing the gaze.
He swiftly glanced it over.
He took the Clarity Rod out from his Space Ring.
This Special Item he had exchanged for a potion possessed the ability to clear one’s mind.
Last time, in Pirate Village, it was with this ‘rod’ that he restored the sanity of the raving Secret Speaker.
He wasn’t certain it would work on ‘Millicent’, but it was worth a try.
If it still didn’t work, he would have to take her back for the Alchemy Skeleton to examine and try to formulate some Detoxifying Potions.
Having resolved on a course of action, he controlled the strength in his hand.
And he struck down.
Slap~!
The crisp sound echoed.
Millicent’s body trembled, and her upper body moved slightly.
Wu Heng looked at her and continued to strike twice more.
Slap, slap~!
The crisp sound of smacking echoed within the cabin.
At the last hit, Millicent let out a pained groan.
A wave of heat evaporated from her body, dispersing in the air.
Still keeping the same pose, she turned her head to look over, her eyes still a bit foggy, but no longer holding that vacant expression.
Seeing the figure holding a dark wooden rod, her somewhat pale face showed a hint of joy, “My lord, you’ve come to save me.”
It indeed worked.
This thing can even cure.
“How do you feel?”
“My backside hurts,” Millicent said in a low voice.
“Any disturbances in your mental state?”
“My head still feels a bit groggy,” Millicent responded.
Wu Heng continued, “Don’t move, lift your clothes a little higher.”
Millicent’s body stiffened slightly, as she carefully lifted her clothes up to expose more of her backside.
Even more pronounced was the shape of her buttocks.
Wu Heng struck once more, flesh rippled, and Millicent clenched her teeth and grunted.
“Does it feel better now?”
“My lord, I realize my mistake,” Millicent said pitifully.
Seeing there were no more problems, he put the rod away, “Alright, get up. The people who kidnapped you are dead, tell me everything you know.”
Millicent carefully got up.
The burning pain on her backside made it impossible for her to sit, and her body felt somewhat weak.
She could only carefully sit on the edge and recounted the whole event.
It was not too different from what the bartender had told.
The only difference was that these people had come the day before.
They likely came beforehand to scout and gather information.
After ensuring there were no issues, they made their move.
And kidnapped her.
“My lord, did I cause you trouble again? Can the tavern still be opened?” Millicent asked with some despair.
It took quite an effort to have a stable life.
Her days were gradually improving.
But now, it seemed she might have to return to her old life again.
Wu Heng thought for a moment, “It’s still uncertain, we’ll have to see how things go.”
“Oh!” Millicent looked down.
After exchanging a few words and sensing Xiao Xiao’s return.
He said to Millicent, “Stay here for now, I’ll take you back later.”
“Yes, my lord.”
…
Exiting the cabin, he entered another room.
Wu Heng asked, “How did it go?”
Xiao Xiao appeared, “The Tamed Beast is dead.”
“Dead?”
“I didn’t touch it. It just died while flying, then fell and shattered,” Xiao Xiao explained.
Wu Heng frowned, contemplating this matter.
A Tamed Beast is also a living creature; if it wasn’t killed by an external force, the most likely possibility is that its owner died.
Upon the owner’s death, the soul of the Tamed Beast would dissipate.
“It seems that the owner of the Tamed Beast was not the mastermind behind the crime.”
“Oh, I see,” Xiao Xiao spun around in mid-air, “Uncle, why don’t you just talk to the dead directly? Why go through all this trouble?”
“I’ve already notified the Association. Let’s wait for the Steward and Investigator to come before proceeding with the Wenshi,” Wu Heng explained.
This matter might involve people on the island.
If the Steward and Investigator aren’t present, and he questions the dead alone, pointing to certain individuals,
If the accused party doesn’t admit it, it would be difficult to verify the matter later.
Thus, following proper protocol and keeping records is the best approach.
“Oh, the Association is such a hassle.”
…
It was beginning to lighten at the break of dawn.
Footsteps approached from outside the cabin.
Xiao Xiao instantly hid her presence.
Steward Imilo, Deputy Steward Xi Ligui, two squad leaders, and two investigators came down the wooden ladder.
After observing the skeletons standing by in the dark cabin,
They refocused their attention on Wu Heng.
Imilo’s neutral voice rang out, “What’s the situation?”
Wu Heng stood up and replied, “The captive has been rescued; the kidnappers did not take her out to sea but to an area under expansion behind Lighthouse Street.”
“And the bodies?”
“I’ve brought them here,” Wu Heng took out two bodies, “Five bodies in total, of which three had their tongues ripped out by a controlled Tamed Beast while I was rescuing her.”
Imilo nodded, “Proceed with Wenshi, and let the investigators keep records.”
