The Necromancer is amassing troops like crazy in the apocalypse-Chapter 538 - 447, Kill Him First
Chapter 538 -447, Kill Him First
Military presence?
He heard this term suddenly in a Different World.
It still felt somewhat out of place.
Shanaela curled up her legs on the sofa and continued to explain, “Gold and Silver Island is uniquely positioned; most trade needs to pass through here, which is why various merchant groups and powers have arranged for a certain number of people here—it protects the merchant groups but also serves a supervisory role.”
Wu Heng understood her meaning.
Gold and Silver Island was a crucial hub for maritime trade, but due to the presence of pirates, it wasn’t fully trusted by the merchant groups or nations.
So they installed personnel under the guise of guards.
While protecting their own merchant groups, should danger arise, the collection of guard teams from various merchant groups also represented a considerable fighting force.
“Didn’t you go to the city hall or Guard Team to inquire?”
Shanaela sighed, “I did, but I didn’t get any clear answers—just official rhetoric—so I came to ask you if the Association has any intelligence.”
Previously, Wu Heng had thought this so-called joint fleet seemed a bit unreliable.
But without any evidence, it was just a feeling.
He had no reason to stop Starflower from participating in the campaign against pirates.
At that time, the pirates ran rampant, severely impacting trade routes, causing the merchant groups to become quite impatient.
Wu Heng thought for a moment and spoke, “Tomorrow, I’ll ask the Steward to see if there’s any intelligence, and then I’ll come back and tell you.”
Shanaela snuggled into his embrace, “Mhm, you’re really kind.”
Mini poked her head out from the other side after their serious conversation ended and jokingly asked, “Kind in what way?”
Shanaela turned her face into the embrace and murmured softly, “Kind in every way.”
“So, Sister Shanaela, what do you like most about Master?”
Shanaela’s cheeks turned even redder, “Go away, you’re not old, but you dare to ask anything.”
“Hehe!” Mini tittered mischievously.
Wu Heng glanced at the sky and embraced the blushing Wood Elf beside him, “Are you going back tonight?”
An even quieter voice replied, “It’s up to you.”
“Then let’s not go back,” Wu Heng got up, lifting the Wood Elf in his arms, “Or, how about the three of us spend tonight together, Mini?”
Shanaela leaned against his chest, cautiously glancing at Mini, “Can you give me some more time, Mini?”
“I’ll listen to Sister,” Mini smiled.
Wu Heng carried her, heading upstairs.
…
The next day, after breakfast,
Shanaela left, and Andre Willow also went to her shift at the Association.
After disguising himself, he stepped out directly, hailed a carriage, and headed for Lighthouse Street.
The carriage gradually stopped at the entrance of Conch Tavern.
As he pushed the door open and entered the tavern, a few bartenders were cleaning.
The one near the door spoke, “Sir, we are not open for business yet, please come back in the afternoon.”
“I’m here to see Millicent; I’m a friend of hers.”
“Oh!” The bartender realized, gesturing upstairs, “Please follow me, the boss is in her room.”
They both ascended the staircase.
They stopped in front of Millicent’s room, and the bartender knocked lightly on the door, “Boss, a lady is here to see you, claiming to be your friend.”
“Let her in,” came the reply.
The bartender opened the door, “Madam, please come in.”
Entering the room,
The bartender closed the door again and walked away with a tap tap tap.
Inside the room, Millicent, in a loose, beige nightgown, still had a sleepy look on her face.
She knitted her brows and eyed the figure at the doorway, “Who might you be?”
Wu Heng removed the ‘Illusion Veil’ from his head, revealing the black cloak beneath.
He continued to remove the hood of the cloak, revealing his usual appearance.
“My lord!” Millicent immediately stood up.
She was familiar with the Illusion Veil.
But she hadn’t expected that there was another layer of protection—more caution than before.
Wu Heng nodded, “There’s been a fair bit happening recently, so it’s best to be more cautious.”
“You’re right,” Millicent agreed.
Wu Heng sat down and inquired, “Have you gathered any new intelligence lately?”
“We have!” Millicent pulled out the Space Ring hidden inside her chest, retrieving a notebook.
Referring to the notes, she said, “A client mentioned that some pirates were spotted making port on the island, but nothing unusual had happened. The second piece of news is about the fleet hunting the pirates; they’ve had significant success, and many fleets docking at the harbor haven’t been attacked by pirates.”
Wu Heng’s brow arched, “How do you know about the fleet hunting pirates?”
Millicent answered, “People from the fleet are staying in the tavern, and in their conversations they mentioned, they hadn’t encountered any pirates on their way here, so they attributed their absence to the fleet’s operations.”
“Have those people seen the United Fleet of Gold and Silver Island?”
Millicent shook her head, “They probably haven’t seen it. From the sounds of it, they were speculating that the disappearance of the pirates might be linked to the fleet.”
Wu Heng nodded, indicating he understood.
Millicent closed her notebook, “There’s no more information. The tavern has been busier recently, but it’s mostly merchants.”
“Hmm, that’s fine.” Wu Heng continued, “Pack up and come with me when you’re ready. You’ll stay at my place for the time being, and we can return here after a while.”
“What about the tavern?” Millicent asked with some surprise, almost reflexively.
“Close it, or leave it to an employee you trust to manage it for now; it’s your choice,” Wu Heng said directly.
Millicent dared not refuse to leave. She began to pack the things she needed to take with her, while saying, “My lord, I choose the second option.”
After everything was packed up.
Wu Heng put on his disguise and descended the stairs with Millicent.
When they reached the first floor, Millicent said she needed to go back to her hometown for a while and entrusted the tavern to one of the staff.
Then, they walked out of the tavern together.
They took a carriage, circled around Lighthouse Street, and returned to the central street.
…
“Master, who is this?” Mini asked curiously, looking at Millicent.
“Philippa’s mother; she’ll be staying with us for a while. Arrange a room for her,” Wu Heng said outright.
He then told Millicent, “This is Mini, she takes care of all the domestic duties here. If you need anything, you can talk to her.”
“Miss Mini,” Millicent greeted formally.
Mini smiled, “There are available rooms on both the second and third floors.”
“Please arrange as Miss Mini sees fit.”
“The rooms on the second floor are bigger and get better sunlight if you prefer a southern exposure. Let’s pick the second floor,” suggested Mini.
“Alright.”
The two women talked as they headed to the room on the second floor.
Wu Heng went straight up to the fourth floor and entered the study.
Sitting down at the desk, Wu Heng began to organize the information he had gathered in the past few days.
The merchant fleet that had disappeared without a trace, the pirates entering Gold and Silver Island, and the increased guard presence on the island.
This Island Master was surely connected to the blank envelope plot.
And now, he was essentially exposed.
He had to be killed before he could act.
Waiting for the other party to make the first move would only put him at a greater disadvantage.
After thinking it through, Wu Heng stood up and went downstairs.
On the second floor, Mini was directing a skeleton to move some furniture into the room.
“Master, are you going out?” asked Mini, turning her head.
“Yes, you stay home, don’t go out.”
“Understood, Master.”
Wu Heng, accompanied by the skeleton attendant, left the house and headed for the association.
…
In the Steward’s Office.
Wu Heng pushed the door open and entered. Imilo was looking at a nautical chart.
Glancing up, he asked, “What is it?”
“Steward, I have collected some information that I need to report to you,” Wu Heng stated.
“Go ahead!” Imilo put down the chart.
Wu Heng quickly relayed the scattered pieces of information he had gathered previously.
The Island Master of Gold and Silver Island was Level 18 and had received a pardon from the association and various powers. Going to kill him by himself was not only risky but also difficult to justify afterward.
And there was no need for him to do it himself.

With the association and Imilo present, why should he take the risk?
Imilo’s expression did not change as he said indifferently, “You’ve made a good analysis of the information. What are you thinking?”
Wu Heng declared, “Steward, we can now be certain that the Island Master has essentially turned against us; he never intended to reopen the trade routes after receiving the pardon. But it’s unclear whether he is acting on the directives of the blank envelope or is the one who sent the blank envelope in the first place.”
“Do you know his occupation?” inquired Imilo.
“Xi Ligui mentioned he’s a warrior,” Wu Heng replied.
Imilo nodded, “From an occupational perspective, a warrior is better suited for execution rather than decision-making. The likelihood that he is carrying out actions directed by the blank envelope is greater.”
Wu Heng looked serious.
He declared outright, “Steward, I believe that even if we do not kill him immediately, we should take control of him to prevent any issues.”
