The Omega Knight's Secret Baby Daddy is A PRINCE?!-Chapter 134: Your Son?
Ezra and Kaelis walked back, with Lior still being carried by Kaelis.
For some reason, after Ezra and Lior made up and decided to head back, Lior insisted on staying in Kaelis’ arms again.
They moved slowly with no particular reason.
They just did.
Ezra needed the time. He used each step to gather his thoughts, to steady himself, to hold onto whatever resolve he had left before turning to Kaelis, who still wore that calm, almost peaceful expression.
’How can he still look like that after everything?’
Ezra felt the complete opposite. Everything that happened that day still sat heavily in his chest, pressing down on him.
So he took a breath and spoke.
"I’m in."
"Hm?" Kaelis hummed, his hand moving absentmindedly as he rubbed Lior’s back. "You’re in?"
"I want to be part of your investigation permanently, not just today." Ezra clarified, glancing around the dark woods, checking if anyone else was nearby. "I want to find out who’s doing this. I want to find those cultists and all those children."
Kaelis didn’t answer right away.
He just breathed, slow and quiet, but Ezra caught the shift. That calm look faded. Something more serious took its place.
Ezra frowned slightly. ’What is he thinking about?’
Was Kaelis really debating whether or not he should say yes?
He better not.
"Is it because Lior’s involved?" Kaelis asked, turning his head toward him.
"Yes, of course. Why else?" Ezra replied, crossing his arms as he walked.
’Why does he keep asking the obvious?’
Kaelis didn’t react much, but his gaze dropped briefly to Lior before returning to Ezra.
"I have one condition."
"Condition?" Ezra repeated, surprised.
This was Kaelis’s mess. He was the one who dragged Ezra into it.
And now he had conditions?
It irritated him, but Ezra forced himself to stay calm.
"What is it?"
Kaelis looked at him, and when their eyes met, Ezra felt it.
Something was off.
It was as if Kaelis knew more than he should.
"You have to stop lying."
Ezra stopped walking.
"Excuse me?" He stared at him. "I don’t... since when have I lied? Sure, I lied about being an alpha, but that’s—"
"You want to find the cultists because they know Lior is your son, right?"
Kaelis stopped too, turning fully toward him.
Lior shifted in his arms, his head lifting slightly at those words.
Ezra froze.
Lior looked at him.
"He’s... not. He—"
"I told you not to lie," Kaelis said with a quiet sigh. "Look, Ezra, I understand why you kept it a secret, just like how I don’t blame you for hiding the fact that you’re an Omega. I wasn’t planning to confront you about it. But Lior is already involved. It’s better if there are no secrets between us now. Those cultists wanted him because they knew. They know a little too much about you."
’Motherfucker.’
Ezra’s mind went blank for a second.
He wanted to deny it again. He almost did.
But the way Kaelis was looking at him—
And Lior.
Ezra took a slow breath, deeper than before, then nodded.
"Yes. He’s my son," he said finally. "Lior is my son. And I can’t live knowing there’s a whole group out there that wants him for whatever reason."
Kaelis’ expression softened slightly.
Relief.
Ezra didn’t understand why.
Lior also looked relieved.
"I know," Kaelis said. "That’s why I didn’t want the secret to stay between us. It would only make things harder."
He glanced at Lior. "And honestly... There was no denying it."
"What do you mean?" Ezra asked, frowning.
Kaelis gave him a look. "The way you act, the way he acts, the fact that you look almost the same, and he calls you Ma—Master. Come on. Anyone paying attention would figure it out."
Lior’s eyes widened. "Oops...?"
"It’s not your fault, little one," Ezra said quickly, then shot Kaelis a look. "So what do you suggest I do so others won’t figure it out?"
Kaelis opened his mouth. "Well, first of all—"
"Ezra!"
A voice called out from a distance.
Familiar.
So familiar that his heart jumped.
Ezra’s body tensed as he turned toward it.
"Fuck. How are they here...?" Kaelis muttered under his breath.
"Don’t say bad words," Lior added quietly.
Ezra didn’t mind them; instead, he just watched as Helios came closer and closer.
And when he was close enough.
"Prince Helios... and..." Ezra trailed off.
Behind Helios, more figures came into view as they approached.
Guy Man. Silas Emberwyn. Perrin Highflame.
A few other knights followed, their armor catching what little light slipped through the trees.
Ezra didn’t bother naming them all.
He stepped forward, meeting them halfway, putting some distance between them and where Kaelis and Lior stood.
"Your Highness, what... are you doing here?" Ezra asked, his voice steady, though his chest hadn’t quite settled yet. "Shouldn’t you be at the frontlines again?"
’Is he still mad?’
Helios stopped just in front of him, his breathing controlled despite the run.
"Aamon sent word," Helios said. "He told us what happened. About the Dark Ones reaching the camp." His jaw tightened slightly. "He was worried the two of you would be in trouble."
Ezra followed Helios’ gaze for a moment.
It shifted past him.
Toward where Kaelis and Lior were.
There was no relief there.
Only something sharp, something restrained.
’He’s still angry.’
It was quick. Just a flicker before Helios looked back at Ezra again, his expression smoothing into something more familiar.
Softer.
And much more gentle.
"How are you doing?" Helios asked.
Ezra paused for a second, caught off guard by the question.
"I’m fine," he said, a little too quickly. "I wasn’t the one who got taken."
His eyes drifted past Helios again, briefly acknowledging the other knights standing behind him.
Too many eyes.
Awkward eyes.
All were visibly curious and uncomfortable by Helios’ closeness with Ezra.
Helios stepped even closer.
Close enough that Ezra could feel it, the shift in space, the attention narrowing.
"I know," Helios said quietly. "But that doesn’t mean it wasn’t hard on you."
His voice dropped, meant only for Ezra.
He reached out slightly, like he was about to take Ezra’s forearm.
Ezra felt it before it happened.
That familiar closeness.
That same warmth Helios always carried when it came to him.
And yet—
’Not here.’
"I appreciate your appearance here, Your Highness...but I think we should head back now."
