Chapter 57: Chapter 57 Pack of Wolves

Sylas knew the terrain of the forest very well. After all, it was his hometown.

But sensing the presence of the wolves, Sylas immediately knew their location. The left side was a cliff, and the other side would lead to different mountain ranges. It was impossible to avoid the wolves.

’Looks like I have to face the wolves,’ Sylas thought with a frown. If he could, he didn’t want to face the wolves.

One, two, three... eight, nine...

Sylas counted as he sensed the presence of nine wolves. Just as Sylas expected, it was indeed a pack of wolves.

And worse, they were all mutated wolves. Sylas could sense it.

When Sylas reached the location of the wolves, the wolves also sensed him. Their eyes were glowing red, and they fixated on Sylas.

The wolves slowly spread out, trying to surround him. Their movements were slow, and they gradually started to encircle him while fixating their gaze on him.

Sylas didn’t move. He watched them carefully, his senses spreading out, locking onto all the wolves.

Seeing Sylas motionless, one wolf slowly stepped forward with its fangs bared at Sylas. The others also slowly moved closer toward him, growling.

Suddenly, two wolves lunged at Sylas, brandishing their claws. One from behind and one from the front. Sylas quickly tilted his body and raised his hand. Spatial blade immediately rushed out toward the wolf in front of him, and he raised his space barrier to defend his back.

Slash!

The wolf at the front tried to dodge the spatial blade, but it was too late. Blood splattered as its body was cut in half from the shoulders.

Thud!

The wolf at the back crashed into the invisible space barrier, and its body bounced back violently.

Seizing the opportunity, Sylas waved his hand, and a thin spatial blade flashed out.

Slash!

The wolf was killed before it could even get back on its feet.

The other wolves turned hostile when they saw Sylas killing two of their pack members. They immediately rushed forward, brandishing their claws and sharp fangs dripping with saliva.

Sylas could feel the strong killing intent emanating from them.

Sylas sent out a spatial blade at the nearest wolf that was coming for his throat.

The spatial blade passed by the wolf’s neck, and before it could react, the wolf’s head was cleanly severed, its body collapsing lifelessly to the ground. Before the others could retreat, Sylas formed another spatial blade and swept it sideways.

Another wolf fell.

The remaining wolves didn’t panic. Instead, they adjusted, spreading out even further to avoid being taken out together.

"Smart," Sylas muttered. The mutated animals had intelligence far higher than normal animals.

A wolf leaped from behind him. It first jumped toward a tree, and using the tree as a stepping point, it leaped toward Sylas to attack. Sylas turned and thrust his palm forward. The space barrier expanded slightly.

Bang!

The wolf was sent flying, slamming into a tree trunk with great force before its body fell limp.

But the others seized the opening.

Sylas didn’t panic. His space energy spread out, and spatial blades rushed out from his body in all directions.

The wolves were cut down before they could reach him.

Only three remained. Their growls were lower now, and their movements became more cautious as they eyed Sylas murderously.

Sylas took a deep breath and took the initiative to attack first.

The nearest wolf, sensing the danger, immediately tried to retreat, but Sylas flicked his wrist, and a spatial blade pierced through its body, killing it instantly.

The last two wolves turned to flee, but Sylas wasn’t planning to let them leave.

Two precise spatial blades flew out from Sylas’ hand, and both wolves collapsed lifelessly mid-run.

The forest fell silent.

Sylas scanned the surroundings using his senses. After making sure there were no more threats, he relaxed slightly. After a minute, he started to extract the energy stones from the wolves. Their energy stones were slightly larger than the ones he had obtained from mutated plants.

He immediately threw the energy stones inside his space to let it absorb them.

Seeing his space absorbing the energy stones, Sylas felt that the delay had been worth it.

Seeing the blood-soaked ground, Sylas was afraid the scent of blood might attract unwanted threats, so he didn’t dare linger any longer and immediately left.

Sylas encountered another mutated animal on the way, but he dealt with it easily. It was a mutated animal without energy stones, so it posed no threat to him.

When Sylas emerged from the forest and entered the town, it was already one hour later. Because of dealing with several mutated plants and animals, the original half-hour journey was delayed to one hour. The time was calculated according to his current speed. If he were still a normal human, it would have taken almost a day to take a detour through the forest.

Sylas had encountered quite a number of mutated plants and animals. He had collected almost twenty energy stones. The good thing was that he didn’t encounter anything particularly strong or with abilities. Otherwise, it would have cost him both energy and time. Although energy stones with abilities were useful for his space, he didn’t want to encounter one right now.

When Sylas stepped into the town, it was completely dark and silent. Sylas carefully used his senses to scan around for any zombies or mutated plants and animals as he headed straight toward the Bluebird district.

Sylas was the only one walking in the desolate and dead town. There was only the stench of rotten flesh in the streets, but Sylas didn’t care.

Within a few minutes, he reached the Bluebird district.

After making sure there were no threats in the surroundings, Sylas immediately took out the containers, pumps, siphon hoses, and all the necessary equipment and started pumping gasoline from the underground fuel tank

If he could, he wanted to take the entire underground fuel tank with him.

As he was filling the containers, Sylas sensed something that made him stop his actions midway.
