The Princess's Dangerous Vampire Mate-Chapter 340: A new - - IV
"Is it?" I questioned. "Why is it?"
"Why not?" Merelyn argued. "That is how the world does it. The bad is always going there and you can only hope that God will be able to outweigh it."
Maybe. Because these things were never in our hands, were they? So, hope was the only thing left.
I took another sip of the tea. "There is blood in yours?"
"Yes."
"How does it feel to be drinking blood?"
"A little.." Merelyn paused briefly. "At first, it was an unfamiliar taste, thicker than anything I have ever drank, but then, because you need it, it sort of becomes natural."
I nodded, understanding that. Hunger could drive anyone to great lengths.
Yet, I could not stop thinking about the fact that I did have feelings other than that of fear, for Tristan. How long Could I deny it? Some day, he would know that I was lying because he always knew when I was lying.
"Alan and I," Merelyn cleared her throat, "we are happy, Genevive. Do you remember how we used to pray to god when we were young about finding love? I think I have found mine."
"Really?" My smile widened. "I’m so happy for you, my friend. May the good God bless you with so many little ones that they drive you crazy!"
"Oh hush," she laughed loudly. "Mother has been pestering me for them. I do want to have children, but I also want to enjoy the time with my husband before I have little children running around."
"Whatever you want, Merelyn. You get to decide all of it."
My friend barely got to live her life and she lived with me. Most of it would revolve around me and what I wanted, but finally, she got to decide on her phone and do whatever she wanted.
And I could not be happier for her.
"You deserve it too, you know. He is right in front of you, ready to love you with all he has but you refuse to acknowledge it."
I gulped. "I am scared."
"That is understandable, but how long do you choose to be scared for?" She smiled but at times it was sad. "You are that princess, who was ready to march into an unknown kingdom, without any protection to check what problem was coming our way. Just to protect your kingdom."
My eyes lowered. That event seemed so far in the past, they do not even remember it clearly. So much had happened since that day, yet I did not fall into pieces. That night... Full of blood and snow, I came out of that as well.
"You are much stronger than you give yourself credit for." Merelyn said like she read what was on my mind.
Maybe, Maybe not.
By the time, Merelyn and I exit her room, and Anna finds me with a worried expression on her face.
"There you are!" She bows currently before coming towards me. "I have been searching for you in the whole Palace!"
"why? What is it?"
Anna came closer. "You had to share the last mea with the king, remember? I am here to get you ready, your Grace."
Ah, yes. "I did. Yes."
Anna did not wait around for that. Instead, she started to usher me towards my room. If she could, she would rather have held my hand and dragged me towards it.
Whatever they called the last meal of the night, happened to be just as fancy as a dinner would be. I was wearing jewelry, changed into a new dress and had new hairstyle.
This time, as I went into the dinning room, Tristan was already there waiting for me.
"Thank you." I said as he pushed the chair in after I sat down. I spoke right after Tristan sat on the other end of the table. "How was your... Night?" That was what they would say. Because it was night or not day, I think. Maybe?
He chuckled. "Night, yes. It was quite fine. A little busy as compared to usual but nothing I could not handle. How did you spend your time? I was made aware by Anna, who was searching for you in the entire Palace, that you talked to Merelyn for quite a while."
"I did." I took a sip of the wine, feeling confident in doing so after a long time. "I don’t think I have talked to anyone for that long in a while. It was just like before."
At the end, our eyes met and it was like something past in between us, wordlessly but something we both understood.
"I am glad." Tristan smiled. "Are you excited to receive a reply from your sister?"
Being excited was an understatement to what I felt about. Finally communicating with her with the assurity was her at the other end.
"I think it is the anticipation of receiving the news of what is happening in my kingdom. It has been so long, almost a year, since I have heard anything from them, and it truly scares me." I confessed and carried on,
"I have never shared this with anyone, except Merelyn, but my sister, and I had plans that were to be carried out before my marriage to... Terrance was announced."
For a quick second, his smile faltered and his expression hardened but then he schooled his features back into the soft smile that he had while talking to me.
"What plans were they?"
"Plans to help her become the Queen of the kingdom. Plants that involved asking the previous Queen to help with her claim and to make my country better."
"I am aware of the state of the country. It has worsened because of the rule of your father." Tristan stated. " I am also aware of the treaty established between you and my brother."
"The treaty was supposed to help us, Tristan." I whispered in sorrow. "It was essential for the survival of my kingdom."
He narrowed his red eyes slightly. "And the survival of your sister’s country depends on what her answer will be."
