The Princess's Dangerous Vampire Mate-Chapter 360: A reunion- I
Instead of taking another step back, like I usually would, I stepped forward to meet him a few steps ahead. It only made me realize that I was not scared of him, even though he was practically charging at me like a bull who was having a red flag waved at him.
"Where were you?" The words left my mouth before I could control them.
Tristan’s expressions changed for a second before they resumed the way they were. "What?"
"Where were you? Your Uncle told me you left the palace."
"I did." He nodded thoughtfully, "I was talking to Reginald Walter."
"Did he come with you?" My eyes move behind him like I will see him standing there, waiting for me.
"No." He stepped to the side, cutting off the sight of the entrance of the palace from the garden. "I did not allow him to come."
He did not? "Why?"
Tristan gave me a sardonic smile. "Because I did not want him to. Is that enough?"
I suppose so, he was the king. Taking my eye’s away from him, I looked around the palace. It looked quite.. peculiar.
"Genevieve, Look at me."
My eyes went to him on his command. "What?" I murmured, wanting to look away but I could not. What was happening?
"Stop looking for someone else when I am in front of you." He narrowed his eyes on me. "What were you doing here with my uncle?"
Ah, I see. Tristan was feeling jealous. I’m not to mention left out because he was not privy to the details of the conversation I had with his uncle Dominique.
Feeling playful; I took a step back and started walking towards the benches, where I had said yes to him. They were a little out of sight from the palace for in case, anyone was listening in.
"Genevieve?" Tristan followed and was right next to me in a blink of an eye. "I ask you something."
"I heard you." I told him with a small smile playing on my lips.
"Then what am I going to receive as an answer from you? What did you talk about?"
Sitting down on the bench, I patiently waited as he sat down in front of me with quite impatience and annoyance in his body language. God, I had forgotten how I enjoyed riling him up.
"He just gave me a little lesson. It was a lesson on how I should keep my emotions in check if I am to become the Queen."
"If? You’re going to be the Queen of this country, Genevive. My Queen." He frowned. "Is that what he said, if?"
"No," I scoffed. "He pretty much told me to stop calling Melenmore as my home country because I am going to be the Queen of this one."
A generous smile came on his face which mildly surprised me. It seemed like he was happy about his uncle’s assertion on where I belonged.
"I see," he nodded again, "and?"
Rolling my eyes, I answered, "and about the strategy and something that he wanted to discuss with me in front of you all of a sudden. Maybe, you will come back to the palace that he decided so. Otherwise, I’m sure he would have talked to me about it."
I hummed. "Yes, I am sure."
He stayed silent and I joined him. At that moment, I realized how silent the night was in comparison to the day. The bazaar was silent and so were the voices of almost every merchant who screamed at the top of their lungs.
"On the edge of Austria and Melenmore, we found someone who is rumored to be related to you. We were not sure of whether they were, but with the confirmation we have received from Reginald, I think you would like to see who she is."
"She?" I repeated the question.
As far as I remember, every relative that I remember, especially female, was in my country, safe and sound as much as they could be. So who was on the edge of two countries?
"I do not know, Tristan. I do not think that anyone could be living so far away from the palace and the capital." Especially the borders. No one lived there, only tribes that minded their own business and wanted nothing from the crown in the capital.
His expression turned dangerously neutral. I did not like where this conversation was going. "I think you should see this then."
He stood up and I followed him up. " what? Who is it? How did you find her over there? Sir Walter has not been in the country for at least a decade or more. I don’t think you would have been able to recognise that person—"
"Genevive," He whispered, placing his hand on my waist and pulling me closer, "stop worrying about everything. Let me handle it if you cannot."
He was calm and I was panicking. In fact, I could feel my heart beating in my ears but it seemed like he went through these situations daily.
"I.." I gulped, God, what do I even say?
"Allow me to handle it." He stepped closer to him and his lips hovered over my forehead before he pressed them against it. "I will take care of it."
Will he?
It seems like you already knew the answer to this. Someone was related to me and they were indeed living in between the bodies of the two countries. That was extremely dangerous and how did Estelle allow it?
Keeping his hand family attached to my waist, trust and guided me back to where the palace entrance was. I realized where we were going, the throne room.
As we ended, there was only a group of people available and they must be the ministers for Tristan. I did not recognise many of them as they walked forward, and just as my head returned to where we were going, I stopped.
"Come," Tristan whispered in my ear, "sit next to me, my Queen."
