Chapter 379: The aftermath- IV

Face.. faces to be exact.

Murmurs of voices, some I recognised, and some I did not. It was difficult to make a hold of anyone because my sight was still blurry.

After seeing them, all in my memories, it was difficult to tell if I was sleeping and continuing to dream or if this was reality and I was seeing the faces of real people. The voices were too good to be false, so I believed that I had finally woken up..

"Here," something cold touched my lips and when it poured in, I knew it was water.

Touch. I was awake.

Gulping a sip and then another, it was taken away from me and I once again opened my eyes to see Marilyn in front of me.

"Awake?" She whispered in awe.

It felt like I had no control over my vocal cords or my tongue so I just blinked.

Realizing what I had just done, she turned back and whispered something furiously before looking back at me. I felt her hand over my head, gently brushing over my hair that was taken to my forehead.

The voices that were beyond Merelyn left, and I even her feet of multiple people. What were they even doing in my room? These were the queens Chambers and the only person who had the right to enter with the king and others had get permission before seeking me .

"Do you wish to set up?" She asked me, her voice more gentle than it had ever been.

I nodded.

My shoulders were in pain. In fact, I felt like my upper half of the body was in pain, there was no specific spot. It was like I burned everywhere.

I felt uncomfortable in my back, and I was not exactly lying down on the bed in the most comfortable position. So, yes, I would like a change of position.

Maryln lifted me up and someone placed the pillows behind my back in such a way that I was only leveled up slightly, but my entire room was possible to me.

Marlyn and Irene.

My friend stared at me ruefully. "Do you not remember what happened?"

"I...don’t." What had happened?

What was she talking about? I felt sick. Why did I feel sick?

She stared at me for a moment longer before nodding to herself. Then she sat back. "Would you like some more water?"

I glanced at the glass of water in her hands. My throat was very dry, for some reason like I have not had any water in ages.

"Yes." I whispered, barely being able to get the voice out of my throat.

She raised the glass to my lips and helped drink the water slowly. She was utterly slow, and my thirst only increased by the growing minute.

"More?" She chuckled and asked when I attempted to drink more water. She shook her head. "I cannot keep you anymore at the moment. It’s going to pain you to go to the loo."

Oh dear god. Sitting up was quite hard enough and I could not even imagine getting up and going somewhere.

I gave her the smallest nod I could manage without provoking for any pain.

Marilyn continued to stare at me silently, and I gave her a meaningful look. I was still waiting for her to tell me more, not for her to continue to sit silently and stare at me like I was some exotic animal.

She opened her mouth and then closed it. Irene stepped behind her, coming into my view and nodded.

"You were marked by the king. We all heard it, you consented to do it and then he marked you."

Mark..

My lips parted in silent realisation when I remembered what had happened previously. Yes, I had been marked and what followed after it was also something I remembered clearly. My body heated up when I looked away from both of them.

"I take it you remembered a little about what happened. That is good." Marilyn slumped slightly.

I nodded slowly, then looked at my dress, only for my nose to catch a smell. That was coming for me.

"How long.. how long have I been here?" It was easier to talk now that I had drank some water.

Marilyn turn the bag and exchange the look with Irene who gave her a nod. She turned around, and answer me, "it has been a week."

A week, a week!

"What?" I could not raise my voice otherwise I would have yelled. "A week? Seven days?"

"Yes." She whispered, closing her eyes a little bit. "I want to tell you more, but I cannot. We have been hounded by everyone in the palace how want to know how you are doing but thankfully, the king was kind enough to only let the two of us near you. They know you have woken up and I can feel everyone around in the corridor, wanting take to get a look at you and um.." her eyes glanced pointedly at my neck.

My neck, that was where Tristan had beaten me. I could feel it, and if I remembered carefully, I could feel the exact moment for your history that sunk in my schedule. Shaking my head, I threw out that thought out of my head before focusing on my hands that lay beside me.

Everyone was waiting to have a look at me outside and as Marilyn said, they had all heard my conversation with Tristan. So they all knew what had happened. I know they will want to make it come true. They wanted to see the mark.

They wanted to make sure that it was real.

Seven days, I have been out of it for more than seven days. Why had no one told me about that? I did realise that I have not exactly asked questions about anything, but still, I should have been warned.

"Where," I spoke again, gathering that attention, "is the king?"
