The Princess's Dangerous Vampire Mate-Chapter 425: Reunited - III
The world seemed to calm down when I was in his arms. It appeared that it had come to a stop and it was just the two of us alone.
The serenity that I found in his arms was something I could not parallel with anything in the world. However, I did not feel entirely calmed.
My heart was still beating so quickly, and my chest, like I feared something bad was going to happen. It was an impending feeling that remained even after being reassured that everything was under control. I wanted to be wrong about this, quite desperately.
Calm was not easily found, and I hated that. Tristan was the only one whom I could trust explicitly when it came to my safety, but why did my heart refuse to calm down?
"My love," Tristan pulled me away from him, "I have to get back to see over the last of things. Anna is going to get you clean and clothed." He looked at me again. "I do not want you to catch a cold and you are shivering. Please, to a hot bath right away."
I do not like that he had pulled away."I don’t—"
"A bath is going to help you and your racing mind. Anna."
"I shall, your majesty." Anna’s voice surprised me and I jumped, turned into her. When did she come in?
Before I could even ask her that, she had whisked me away. Anna stripped me bare before assuring me into the bath that was already filled with hot water. How in the world did she manage that?!
I submerged myself in the water, relaxing, truly now. The hot water provided me with the warmth I desperately needed. How long had I been cold? I still shivered, even when I was in the bath already.
"What of Catherine?" my sister had also been with me, felt the same as I had. She also needed a change of clothes and a warm bath.
The worry of her still clouded my mind, even when I knew she was sleeping peacefully after smelling salts.
Anna stopped what she was doing and answered me. "I changed Princess Catherine’s clothes. Alone. I covered her with a lot of blankets. I assure you she’s going to be warm."
Good, I nodded before leaning into the bath. I wanted to rest, but I still could not find it in myself to do that. It felt too uncertain and I did not know how to deal with it.
I wanted to be with Tristan. The urge to be with him surpassed everything else.
"Anna," I sat up, "just bathe me and get me dressed. I do not want to.. I want to go to Tristan."
She nodded. "Allow me to bring your clothes."
Oh? I expected her to object, given that Tristan had instructed her to make sure that I stayed in the hot water.
"You grace." Irene walked into the room and I smiled, happy to see another familiar face. "May I bathe you?"
"Irene, please." I happily held my hand out of the water, beckoning her close. Once she was within the distance, I held her hand and squeezed it.
It was wonderful to see her. "You are here too?"
She nodded. "I came for you."
"Why?" I tensed up. "What if anyone hurt you—"
"As a vampire, I can fight many humans and I have been trained for it too. If I may not have been able to fight, then I would have preferred to run away with you and my speed cannot be counted with any human." She reminded me gently, holding my hand with both of hers. I understand the concerns, your grace, but everything is alright and under control."
She finished and took the washcloth before she began washing Me. She was gentle as she scrubbed me twice before Anna came back.
I felt clean after she was done. I had not even looked at my face when Tristan had found me and the way the water had turned dirty, I could only imagine how I looked. Anna and Irene dressed me. The clothes they brought were thicker but still not something one will wear in my country’s weather. However, for me, they were perfect.
"Where is he?" I asked both of them who had followed me.
"His Majesty is with your sister, and the Queen’s office." Irene answered. "We are heading towards it."
I remembered the way. Crossing the countless corridors, I noticed that there was no one on the floor anymore. Blood was still splattered on the walls and the floor. Perhaps no one had gotten into cleaning it, but had taken every dead body away.
"Did a lot of people die?" I asked Anna in particular she seemed to be the one who would know this detail. Since this attack was not anticipated, the pace would not have been empty. There may not have been the army and a lot of soldiers in the palace, but the servants were still inhabiting it.
"No," Anna casted a glance at the blood I have been staring at, "that is the blood of the rebels. We made sure to tell every servant to stay indoors, the one who got out were idiots."
I opened my mouth but then closed it. Anna was right. When instructions have been given to stay inside, they have been an idiot to go out when a possible attack was expected.
Irene was walking a step behind me, so I asked her, "how long have you been here?" 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
"Two days, your grace." She replied. "I do not know much of the specifics."
That was understood. I eyed Anna. She would have known a lot more in comparison to Irene, but I did not have any interest in talking to her. I would rather to ask Tristan.
Without knocking, I entered the office that now belongs to my sister. I did not look around because the moment I entered, my eyes found her.
"Estelle." I whispered.
