The Programmer Cultivator-Chapter 90: Let’s Talk

The book is going premium tomorrow, so I wanted to say a few things!

I had originally planned to delay going premium, if possible, to get more recommendation slots.

But last week’s major recommendation feature put me up against three ’Great Gods,’ two Level 5 authors, and five other big shots all at once... 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢

When I saw that lineup, my heart sank!

As expected, I didn’t manage to break through in the rankings, so going premium is my only option now.

First, the release time. The premium Chapters will start going up after midnight tonight. There’s usually a bit of a data delay, so it’ll likely be around 12:10 AM. I hope you’ll all be there to show your support.

Second, I know this is the point where many people will leave, and many will turn to pirated sites. I understand that.

But I’m a new author without a large reader base. Unlike the established authors, I can’t afford to lose even one or two subscriptions.

So, I’m hoping that those of you who are able to can offer your support.

I often see people flaming authors for dropping their books and becoming a eunuch, but what writer ever actually wants to do that?

The main reason is that they simply can’t afford to continue.

Take me, for example. I started writing because I love it, and I’m doing it full-time, not as a part-time gig.

I’m not asking to make as much as I did at the job I quit, but at the very minimum, I need to be able to support myself.

It was for these basic reasons that I had to drop my last book. As for this one, I spoke with my editor a few days ago, and I’ve decided that even if the results are still poor, I will write at least one million characters to start.

So, again, I hope that those of you who can will lend your support.

Even if I update 10,000 characters a day, it only costs about five mao—a few pennies. That might not be much to you, but for a small writer like me, every single subscription is a lifeline.

So, I understand if you have to leave, but if you have the means, I truly hope you’ll consider subscribing.

Third, let’s talk about the rules for bonus Chapters.

Starting with a base of 250 average subscriptions, I will release one bonus Chapter for every 100 subscriptions above that. This offer is unlimited!
