Chapter 38: The Hunt Begins

As Emma and Alex disappeared into the night, they knew they had to move fast. Victor and the rest of the council would stop at nothing to capture them, and Emma knew she had to stay one step ahead.

They ran through the winding streets, dodging alleys and side streets as they tried to shake their pursuers. But Emma could feel eyes on her, watching her, waiting for her to make a mistake.

As they ran, Alex suddenly grabbed Emma's arm, pulling her into a narrow alleyway. "Wait," he whispered, his eyes scanning the rooftops. "I think we're being followed."

Emma's heart skipped a beat as she looked around, her senses on high alert. And then, she saw them. A group of shadowy figures, lurking in the darkness.

Alex nodded, his eyes scanning the room. "I know a way to take down Victor and the council," he said. "But it's going to be risky."

Emma's heart skipped a beat as she looked at Alex. "What is it?" she asked.
