The Retired CEO's Guide To Being Spoiled-Chapter 228: Compensatory Crab Porridge
The very next morning, when Julian Sterling finally woke up, Ethan Caldwell was no longer in bed. He lounged lazily in bed for a little while, starting to reflect on the events of yesterday. Last night, the two of them really only did it once, mainly because Julian was simply too exhausted. After Ethan finished, Julian was so tired that his eyes fluttered shut, and ultimately, it was the older man who gently carried him to the bath and then brought him back upstairs in his arms.
Naturally, the cleaning up afterwards was also Ethan Caldwell’s responsibility. There had never been a single time when Julian had to lift a finger for these trivial matters.
He lay comfortably on his stomach, grabbing his phone to scroll through the morning news for a bit. Coincidentally, the first piece of information that popped up was directly related to the people he had just crossed paths with yesterday. It was news concerning Msson Enterprises.
It seemed to be some sort of public announcement regarding a newly launched product, which appeared to be an everyday consumer good with cheaper production costs but higher quality. Just as he was about to tap in to find out more details, he heard the door open. Julian turned his head and saw Ethan Caldwell pushing a serving cart inside.
"I thought you already went to work."
"It is still early. Besides, didn’t I pretend to be out drinking all night at The Ebony Lounge? Going to work late today is perfectly normal. Or, I even stay at home today. It is no pronlem." The handsome man said as he pushed the cart right up to the bedside. On the table sat a steaming bowl of hot porridge.
This scene was truly familiar to him. It seemed like every single time, whenever they accidentally played a little too hard at night, Ethan Caldwell would personally cook porridge and bring it up to him the following day. Looking at this, Julian couldn’t help but curl his lips into a soft smile: "Making the CEO of Caldwell Empire go down to the kitchen to cook porridge for me every single day, I really feel quite bad."
"As long as you are happy."
"I am not happy, Ethan Caldwell. Can we change the menu? It is porridge every single time, I am getting completely sick of it." Julian feigned a complaint, his gaze sweeping over the man’s simple loungewear, which stood in complete contrast to his usual cold demeanor when wearing a suit at the company.
"Today is crab porridge. You didn’t get to eat your crab noodles yesterday, so I am making it up to you. Do you really not like it?" The sweet aroma of fresh seafood intricately intertwined with a hint of pungent black pepper from the porridge began to spread through the air, gradually stimulating the appetite of the person on the bed.
Julian shot the man a brief glance, and only then did he reluctantly sit up and lean against the headboard, pulling the blanket up to cover his lower half. Ethan Caldwell truly had Julian’s preferences right in the palm of his hand, he really loved seafood dishes. Especially shrimp, crab, and squid. All things considered, Julian liked crab the absolute most, but this dish was also the most troublesome due to its hard shell. Although eating crab noodles or crab porridge didn’t offer the same joy as peeling a whole crab with his own hands, being spared the effort of extracting the meat was definitely considered a huge plus. But if have a change, Julian really want to eat a big crab.
Just as Julian reached out to take the bowl, Ethan Caldwell was a step faster. The man picked up the bowl and sat on the edge of the bed, carefully feeding him spoonful by spoonful. Every movement was incredibly natural and tender. At that precise moment, the man’s gaze fell on Julian’s phone, coincidentally catching sight of the name Msson Enterprises displayed on the brightly lit screen.
This sight reminded Ethan Caldwell of what happened yesterday. The man carefully blew on the hot porridge to cool it down before bringing it to Julian’s lips, asking softly: "Don’t you have anything to tell me?"
"Hmm? About what?" Julian blinked innocently, pretending he didn’t understand what the issue was.
Ethan Caldwell raised an eyebrow, staring straight at the name Msson on the phone. Julian also looked over, and upon seeing the information on the screen, he immediately understood what the man was getting at. Julian pouted, replying quite nonchalantly, "Didn’t the bodyguards already tell you absolutely everything? Why do I even need to say it." 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
Ethan Caldwell looked at his deliberately aggrieved appearance and found it amusing. Having lived together for so long, he more or less understood the personality of his precious darling. Julian did love to act spoiled, but he was absolutely not someone who would swallow his pride and suffer losses in silence. Not to mention, the bodyguard said yesterday that Julian looked deeply hurt when his ignorant former classmates brought up the Sterling family.
But more than anyone else, Ethan Caldwell was the one who most clearly understood just how much Julian deeply despised the Sterling family. There was no way he would feel heartbroken over not being acknowledged by the Sterlings, nor would he harbor any desire to return to them. Ethan Caldwell even guessed that, if given the chance, Julian would be the very first person to completely level the entire Sterling family to the ground.
Moreover, just yesterday Ethan Caldwell had witnessed with his own eyes his Oscar-worthy acting. The sharp edge cleverly hidden beneath that harmless exterior was precisely what captivated him so deeply.
"So what will it be? Shall I take revenge for you?" Even though he knew Julian was doing this on purpose, Ethan Caldwell still thoroughly pampered him and asked for his opinion. Furthermore, Julian was his life partner. Ethan Caldwell would absolutely never allow anyone else to hurt him, not even with a single sarcastic remark.
