The Rogue Alpha's Second Chance-Chapter 12: Desperate
Chapter 12 - Desperate
The child in her stomach, coupled with how she was unable to keep her food in, made the hunger gnaw in Violet's stomach. She leaned against the kitchen countertop, watching the man prepare the meal.
One glance at Violet's sparkling and eager eyes reminded Lucas of a small animal, waiting to be fed.
When Lucas was done with the cooking, Violet hurried on her steps to set up the table. After being here for more than two weeks now, her movements were no longer as nervous as before, and she familiarized herself with her surroundings.
Once Lucas brought over the meal, as if they had been silently informed, Sylas and Lydia came over, taking their respective places and waiting for their meal to be served.
Their attitude made Lucas feel discontent.
He shook his head in disapproval. "None of you are as cute or considerate as my Princess. Watch and learn from how she is helping me."
Lucas's praise made Violet curl up her toes, and her cheeks warmed. She smiled at Lucas softly before taking her seat.
"Shut up, Lucas," Lydia sharply said.
Lucas rolled his eyes at her.
The menu for lunch was grilled fish, roasted potatoes, and salad. Violet picked up her fork and took a bite out of the salad. The tangy flavours satiated her taste buds so well that she couldn't instantly stop herself from picking up another cherry tomato.
Although she had complimented him so many times up until now, Violet couldn't help but say, "This is absolutely delicious, Lucas!"
Then, she moved on to the grilled fish. However, just as she tasted the fish, the fishy smell invaded her senses and evoked a gastric reflux within her. Unable to hold it in, Violet covered her mouth and rushed towards the washroom.
Lucas stared at her back, concerned.

"Isn't there any medicine that can stop these symptoms?" Lucas asked.
Lydia lifted her head from her food.
"What she needs the most is the comfort of the father of the child. As the child is developing, it is seeking out for his father's pheromones. Unable to receive it, it will continue to deplete the mother's pheromones and energy.
If she had her wolf, maybe Violet would be able to bear it. But now, she is barely surviving herself, let alone a child." Lydia's eyes fell on Sylas for a second.
Lucas grumbled. "What an irresponsible bastard! Do I catch him and threaten him to provide her with pheromones?"
Lydia lifted one of her brows. With a mysterious expression on her face, she said, "I will commend you if you can."
Once Violet was done clearing out her stomach, she slowly walked towards the dining table. The liveliness from earlier was drained out— leaving behind her pale and exhausted face.
The worried expression on Lucas's face made Violet force out a smile and say, "It's alright."
However, just as she finished those words, her eyes went dark, and Violet's legs slipped as she lost her consciousness.
Lucas's eyes widened, alert, and he was about to hold her when an arm extended, protecting Violet from falling down. Sylas got up from his seat and held Violet before picking her up.

When Violet regained her consciousness, she realized her hand was connected to an IV drip. Feeling weakness in her body, she supported herself and leaned against the headboard of the body. Violet blinked her eyes, trying to focus her vision.
After a while, Lydia stepped into her room. Seeing how Violet was awake, she informed, "You fainted due to poor nutrition and exhaustion. Your body is still weak. Refrain from getting up."
Since the drug has run out, Lydia removed the IV drip. The sharp pain made Violet let out a wince.
"But I eat enough and do not do anything the entire day," Violet voiced out. Although Violet has been throwing up frequently, she didn't think she would suffer from malnutrition.
"Your child has powerful genes. It requires more nutrition than you intake, in addition to how you lack pheromones of the father," Lydia said.
Violet pursed her lips into a thin line.
"Do you think the Alpha will let me stay in the pack if I request hard?" Violet carefully questioned.
Lydia was silent for a second, observing her. This let nervousness build up within Violet.
"You can try. If you show your desperation enough, I am sure the Alpha wouldn't be able to reject you," Lydia encouraged her thoughtfully.
