The Royal Mark-Chapter 349: Let Me Stay Young
The tiny bottle that King Mordrak threw hit and damaged the brick wall after the chamberlain successfully evaded it.
"I swear, My King I didn’t know it contains poison. Princess Milda said it was a remedy for pregnant women. She said it would lessen her morning sickness and help her go through her pregnancy smoothly," the chamberlain quickly explained, trying to save his life. He would surely not let himself get into trouble just because of a human with weak magic.
King Mordrak was furious and intensely gazed at Princess Milda. To everyone’s surprise, Milda was unfazed, totally not bothered by the demon king’s anger.
"Is that true?" the demon king tersely asked but it was obvious that he was trying his best to control his rage.
"Of course, it is true. Why do you even think that these people around you have the guts to lie when they are all trembling in fear, scared to lose their lives at any moment? I am surprised that you are so angry about it when you plan to dispose of her someday anyway!" Milda exclaimed.
"That decision belongs solely to me. It’s not yours to make!" King Mordrak shouted.
Milda scoffed and rebutted, "Of course, I know that! That potion will not kill her now or at least not for a while. But it will let me stay young, just like what Queen Yvonne was doing before. You can still use her for about five to ten years before I completely drain her youth and life." 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Milda breathed deeply before smiling at the demon king as she approached him. She snaked her arm around his and rested her head on his shoulder while saying, "Come on, don’t be angry about it. Don’t you want me to stay young and live longer so I can stay with you forever? You’ll marry her soon and that potion will also kill the baby in her belly, so it means she will be free of it soon.
The sooner the better right? So you could impregnate her soon and get the baby that you wanted and dispose of her. After that, then we could start our own family, and I promise I’ll take care of your child as if it’s my own. Don’t be mad anymore okay? I can reduce the effect of the potion so it will not make her too weak."
King Mordrak was fuming as he listened to what Milda was saying, he harshly grabbed her hand and removed it from his arm causing her to wince.
"You’re hurting me!" Milda shrieked.
"You will feel more of that if you will hurt Elsa one more time!"
"What?! Don’t tell me you really are in love with her. Don’t be ridiculous, she’s not meant for you. I am the one who’s going to stay by your side forever!" Milda retorted as she struggled to remove the hand of the demon king on her arm.
"You really don’t understand your place do you? Come here, I will teach you!" he told Milda before turning to Beatrice and the other servants. "Stay here, make sure she’s comfortable, and call me as soon as she wakes up." King Mordrak started dragging Milda to the connecting receiving room but was stopped by a loud voice.
"Wait! My King, it will be midnight soon. And it’s the eve of your wedding. You cannot see the bride anymore as soon as midnight strikes, so I cannot let you in when she wakes up," Beatrice do not believe it herself and it was a lame excuse but she had to try.
The King frowned utterly baffled by what she said, so she immediately explained before the demon king decided to turn her into ashes. "T-There’s a human belief and tradition that the groom must not see the bride before the wedding or else bad luck will fall upon the couple. They will be doomed forever."
"Well, that’s true. So why don’t you just spend your time with me huh?" Milda butted in.
King Mordrak closed his eyes in annoyance at both the situation and Milda. He already knew what he must do if he wanted to get on Elsa’s good side to win her heart. So he told Beatrice, "Fine, just send a servant then to inform me of her situation later, don’t dare to leave her side. Make sure that she’ll be fine on the day of our wedding."
He didn’t wait for Beatrice to reply and continued dragging Milda out of the room.
The healer gave Beatrice some herbs and said, "Put this into her tea when she wakes up to make her feel better. I have to check the potion that the princess gave her to know what I should do to heal her. But I can’t do it now since the king destroyed the bottle. I have to wait for them to finish talking so I think I will be back tomorrow afternoon."
"That’s alright, I will make sure she will drink this tea and will take care of her. I will send someone to you when she wakes up," Beatrice assured the healer.
"Do you want me to send more servants to help you?" the chamberlain asked.
"No, I was actually going to request that all servants should leave and must not loiter near Her Majesty’s chamber so she could fully rest. A single noise could disturb her and I am afraid that the demon king will kill us if she doesn’t get better on their wedding day," Beatrice answered.
The chamberlain was in doubt so he looked at the healer, silently asking for her opinion.
"The servant is right. What the Queen needs is rest. We can’t do anything until she wakes up, so do what the servant said," the healer commented.
Everyone left to let Elsa have the silence and peace that she needed. Beatrice waited for a few minutes before getting Elsa’s cloak. She gently shook her, to wake her up.
"Your Majesty, I know you are awake, I saw you peak earlier. Let us go now before they lock the gates."
