The Royal Mark-Chapter 398: Meeting With Me
"Rocco, Rosey, Daisy! Mommy is leaving!" Elsa called out as she picked up her bag and some of the books that she would leave in her office in the hospital.
Not long after she heard tiny footsteps running toward the living room where she was at.
"Mommy! Please take us with you, we want to play with Mr. Chairman again," Daisy exclaimed while running towards her.
Rosey came in next and wrapped her arms around Elsa’s legs. "Mommy, don’t leave us. We want to come with you. Promise we will behave. Mr. Chairman said he will play with us again when we go to the daycare."
Elsa sighed with a smile but there was something about the children’s clinginess to her boss that made her heart ache a bit. ’Perhaps they are longing for a father’s attention and love,’ she thought.
A week had already passed and her kids still hadn’t forgotten their encounter with her boss to the point that it made her curious about him. Ever since they left the hospital after visiting Marina, her children won’t stop talking about Mr. Chairman as they call him, day and night.
’He must love children and left a good impression on them. I should thank him and apologize since my kids took too much of his time,’ Elsa mentally noted.
"Come on dear, let go of your mom’s legs, she must go to work to help sick people," the nanny that she just hired said.
"Thank you, Wena. Don’t lose the numbers that I gave you. I also made a copy and posted it in the kitchen just in case. Don’t hesitate to call me, Marina, or Jai if you need to," Elsa strictly instructed.
"Yes, Madam. Don’t worry about us, Roxanne will also help me watch the kids once she’s done with the household chores," Wena, the nanny, said.
"Mommy, if you see Mr. Chairman, please give him this..." Rocco requested as he handed a square envelope to Elsa.
"What is this?" she asked her son.
"I made him a thank you card for buying food for me and my sisters. I also drew Yakobo so he could see him."
Elsa and the nanny gazed at each other, smiling at how thoughtful Rocco was.
Elsa accepted it and put it in her bag’s pocket. "I will surely give it to him when I see him. Come here and give Mommy a hug before I leave."
The three children swiftly wrapped their tiny arms around her neck and also gave her kisses.
"I will surely miss you three. Don’t give Wena and Roxanne a hard time, okay? Behave and be good to them."
"Okay, Mommy, see you later!"
Elsa quickly hopped into the back seat of her car and instructed her new driver to drive right away or she might miss her kids more.
Before going to the hospital, she made a stop at a cafe shop near the hospital and bought two ventis of hot mocha latte, blueberry cheesecake, and strawberry cheesecake.
’I hope he likes this coz who hates mocha and cheesecake right?’ she wondered mentally.
"Drop me off the front. Then bring my things to my office after you park the car." Her driver nodded.
Upon arriving at the hospital, she only took her bag, the coffee, and the cakes she bought and went straight to the elevator. There she met with a familiar figure making her smile.
"Good morning Dr. Chaudhary!" Elsa greeted cheerfully.
Jai swiftly turned around, the voice he had just heard brightened his day. "It’s a good morning indeed! And oh! You brought me breakfast, how thoughtful of you!" Jai reached out to take the coffee and cake from Elsa’s hands.
Elsa frowned momentarily but quickly replaced it with a smile, pulling her hands away from Jai. "Oh, sorry, these are for someone else. I owe someone a ’thank you’ and an ’I’m sorry,’ so this is my way of expressing it."
"Is it Marina?" Jai asked since who else could it be when it was Elsa’s first day at work?
"Nope," Elsa moved closer to whisper into his ear and said, "It’s the Chairman. He met the kids during Marina’s operation because Rocco roamed around the hospital and he spent some time with them in the daycare.
I am bringing him these to say thank you and I’m sorry for taking too much of his time, hoping that, that encounter didn’t affect me negatively. I don’t want him to think that I leave my kids without food or that I don’t teach them well."
Jai furrowed his eyebrows, he didn’t like what Elsa was planning at all. "I’ll go with you. I will introduce you so it will not look as if you are trying to gain favors."
"You would? Really? That’s a good idea! Let’s go."
When the two reached the Chairman’s office, his secretary let them in right away.
"Good morning, Chairman Jorgensen. I’d like to introduce the newest member of our surgery department, Dr. Elsa Morgan," Jai began.
Chris approached Elsa and extended his hand, but she was holding the coffee and cakes in both hands. She glanced around, looking for a place to set them down.
"Doctor..." Chris glanced at the name on Jai’s coat, "Dr. Chaudhary, please be a gentleman and assist the lady with what she’s carrying."
Jai stood frozen, resenting the confidence Chris exuded while staring at Elsa since they walked in. Chris didn’t even look at Jai while ordering him to take what Elsa was holding.
Chris noticed Elsa blushing under his gaze and saw that Jai still hadn’t moved. Finally, he looked at Jai and said, "Shall I teach you how to be a gentleman?"
Feeling the tension, Elsa quickly interjected, "Uhm, Mr. Jorgensen, I mean Chairman Jorgensen, these are actually for you. I was planning to eat breakfast in my office, so I bought these from the cafe nearby and also got something for you... Here, please accept it." 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
Chris’s heart skipped a beat. He wanted to grin but controlled himself, only smiling a bit. He took the coffee and cake with his left hand and lifted Elsa’s hand to his lips, placing a kiss on it like a true gentleman in the old days.
"Wow, I’m glad you thought of me. Thank you and please call me Chris."
’Or my love, like you used to...’ he playfully thought.
"I am happy to finally meet you. I’ve heard so much about you. They said you are not only a great doctor but also a beautiful one, and I surely agree. I also saw your impressive resume and I must say, it is special and it made me curious about you," he said before releasing her hand.
Elsa was momentarily shocked. Her face turned red, and her ears felt hot. She couldn’t believe what he had just said and done. Who does that in this modern age?
Quickly composing herself, she responded, "You’re welcome, sir. It’s also my way of saying thank you for buying food for my kids, and I am so sorry they wasted your time."
"Nothing was wasted. I enjoyed spending time with them. And since you planned to eat breakfast in your office, why not join me here? I’d like to get to know you better. I haven’t had breakfast yet either. I’ve spent time with your kids, and to be fair, I should spend time with their mother too, right?
I checked your schedule, and there’s not much on it since it’s your first day, so I took the liberty of filling it with a meeting with me," Chris said, gesturing for Elsa to sit on the sofa before sitting down himself.
He then turned to Jai, who was completely astonished by Chris’s audacity in openly flirting with the woman he had been courting for years. "You can go, doctor. I don’t need you here."
Elsa’s jaw dropped, and she slowly turned to Jai, whose face was red with anger. She watched him take a deep breath and nod at Chris before leaving, too humiliated to even look at her.
