The Secret Obsession of the CEO-Chapter 267: A Fitting End
The next day, Rory woke up rejuvenated. They got ready to go to the execution hall.
Rory was not sure about bringing Ellie there, but Liam insisted. He wanted Lennon to see them as a family together and die restlessly.
Rory made sure to make arrangements for Ellie to be not there at the time of the execution. She might not remember anything when she grows up, but she didn’t think that watching someone getting killed would be good for her.
Liam was asked if he wanted to visit Lennon the previous night as he was his son. But Liam refused. They were informed that Lennon had no preferences for his last meal. He refused to meet with a priest, and he had no requests other than to be buried in his best suit.
Rory was not feeling very happy as she thought she would be when she was seated in front of the big glass in the witness room. On the other side of the glass was a bed with belts attached and other monitors and equipment.
It was somber. Everyone who was there was somber. Mrs. Brown sat beside her and held her hand. With a measured smile she asked Rory about her pregnancy.
Rory thanked Mrs. Brown again. When she was in a dark place, it was Mrs. Brown who helped her overcome the darkness. She got better.
Sidney was not present. They said her condition was worsening and she didn’t like to be helped. Skyla was with her grandparents. They were nice people and they didn’t want Skyla to know her connection with her father. They had changed Skyla’s surname to theirs so that Skyla would have a peaceful life.
Rory looked back to see Derick in the last row. He was alone. Julia was heavily pregnant and didn’t want to witness an execution.
Things have been good with them and Derick although Derick has been keeping a distance. Rory understood and appreciated it. Although Liam is not who he was, it’s better to not hurt him.
A lot went on. Everyone was watching it with a somber heart. Finally, it was time to bring out William Caroll, the destroyer of many lives.
Wearing a tailored suit, he was brought out. He looked very thin and pale. The contrast was very apparent when he was dressed as he used to.
He looked pathetic.
Rory clenched her skirt. Feeling the warmth on her sleeve, Rory turned to her side. Holding Ellie, Liam was stiff as a board.
Mrs. Delport was staring blankly at Lennon.
Rory held Liam’s hand and she felt him letting out a deep breath. He wasn’t as stiff afterward. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
It was no surprise when Lennon’s eyes ended up on them. Rory’s hands ended up on her belly in a protective instinct. Liam pulled her to a side hug and held Ellie to his chest. Rory could see that he is feeling protective just like her.
Liam wetted his lips. He’s imagined this moment for a long time now. But right then, meeting his eyes that were blue like his, he wavered a bit.
One life is going to end be it good or bad. That man is his father.
But then he noticed the blank stare. He snapped out of the sadness. He wrapped his arms around Rory holding his daughter to his chest.
If not for his wife, he would have lost the one thing that mattered to him the most--his true family.
The man who hurt his family deserves anything that is thrown at him.
Liam smiled at Lennon.
See... I still have everything you wished you could take away from me... I even have another addition to my family on the way. On the other hand, you... are going to die.
Without even saying a word, Liam conveyed his feelings just with his smile. He knew it affected Lennon seeing his eyebrows twitching,
The procedures continued. Lennon was strapped and various tubes were attached to him. Liam handed Ellie over to one of the guards to be taken out of the witness room.
Lennon’s head was not restrained, so he could look at everyone in the witness room. They could see that the execution was proceeding.
Lennon was asked for his last words. He tilted his head and his eyes ended up on Rory.
Rory met with his eyes. This is the last time she will see him. She was okay with that.
I WILL GET YOU IN MY NEXT LIFE, AURORA!!!
Although they didn’t hear what Lennon shouted, Rory could make out what he was shouting by reading his lips. Lennon made it obvious.
Liam wrapped his arm around Rory’s shoulder and pulled her closer to him as if he was saying that Lennon could only get Rory after he passes him.
Rory scoffed at Lennon. She was not scared. She got him good this life and if there is another life and even if Lennon comes for her in that life, she will get him again!
The people around strapped a belt to Lennon’s forehead as he was moving so much.
It was time.
There was a somber silence in the room. Liam held her hand and they watched it happen.
They said it might take some minutes. But only a couple of minutes after the drug was administered, they saw Lennon having violent contractions.
The doctors on standby rushed to him and as everyone in the witness room witnessed, boils formed on his skin. Some of the boils popped out and it appeared that his skin was peeling off. Lennon had trouble breathing and he appeared to be drowning. He coughed out a mixture of blood and water.
It looked very painful. And it went on for what seemed like an eternity.
The guards rushed in and asked everyone on the witness stand to stay seated as some were standing up out of shock. The doctors near Lennon tried to close the curtain on the glass window but as the witnesses urged, the curtain was left open.
Everyone watched the horrible death of Lennon in silence. After some excruciating minutes, the doctors announced the time of death.
Rory had a last look at what was left on the table. There were burns on his skin and his face had contorted due to pain. His shirt was soaked in blood. Although he was supposed to die in a humane way, karma interrupted and gave him a violent death.
Or was it the work of someone else?
Gordon Faraday came to her mind. But she didn’t care much whether he did it or not.
"Are you okay, Cherry?" Liam kissed her cheek.
Rory nodded with a smile. "What about you?"
Liam sighed with a nod. A small smile hung on the corner of his lips. "Let’s get our daughter," he said, and Rory walked beside him.
A fitting end, she thought as they left for home. He ended up feeling at least a fraction of the pain he caused others while he died.
