The Shepherd Alone on the Hill is a Genius Wizard-Chapter 153: A Father’s Warning (1)
The moment he heard the identity of the person sitting across from him, Turan quickly gripped Meisa’s hand tightly.
Her body, which was instinctively about to turn toward Turan, stiffened.
’It’s fortunate at least that the person himself isn’t here.’
Since he had introduced Solif as a porter with a background as a wandering knight when they entered, he was currently resting in the servant quarters, looking after Bize.
Considering what he had seen during their first meeting, Solif’s acting skills weren’t particularly bad, but the chance of him maintaining his composure when suddenly meeting his father was not high.
"Mr. Godis, these are the young Turan and Miss Misha I mentioned before. What a coincidence that we’re meeting right now."
"My name is Godis Baraha. In the name of the sun, may infinite glory be with you two young people."
Godis, who greeted them in an antique tone, looked at Turan and Meisa with somewhat drowsy eyes.
It was a gaze clearly showing his intention to examine them.
"So, Turan, do you perhaps know which family that man Sol, who was traveling with you back then, comes from? I didn’t know at the time, but now that I think about it, he looks exactly like Baraha’s successor I mentioned."
"I’m not sure either. Actually, we parted ways shortly after leaving the hot springs."
"Oh, I see. Mr. Godis, that’s unfortunate."
Hearing this, Godis looked at Turan with sunken eyes and asked another question.
"You said your name was Turan, correct?"
"Yes."
"Did you perhaps eradicate a pirate group in the Southern Sea recently?"
"That’s right. I don’t remember their name clearly, but there were some who dared to kidnap and exploit people, so I took care of them."
After saying that, Turan added as if he had just remembered:
"Come to think of it, I did meet that friend then too. The pirates had three islands as their bases, and I was dealing with them one by one. When I visited the last island, he had already taken care of all the executives."
This was a storyline Turan came up with on the spot.
That he went to eradicate the Cobinus pirates, met Solif who had handled the Baraha nobles on his own, and then traveled together briefly before parting ways.
’Of course, this won’t completely dispel his suspicions, but...’
Still, if he could just make it ambiguous whether Turan had actually clashed with the Baraha nobles or not, it would be a sufficient gain.
"I see... Did that Sol mention where he was heading?"
"I heard he was going west. I think he said he wanted to see beyond the Sky Mountains after hearing about them."
Since he had actually expressed a desire to go there before, it wasn’t a lie.
Though the other party probably wouldn’t seriously believe this.

"Are you two traveling alone now?"
"I recently hired a servant with a background as a wandering knight. He’s a diligent porter."
Since many people had already seen Solif when they entered, Turan spoke casually in a passing tone.
Upon hearing this, Godis widened his eyes and asked:
"Would it be possible for me to meet that servant?"
As expected, he seemed to suspect that it might be someone disguised with the Mimicker god’s mask.
The fact that he didn’t think the Baraha successor would ever act as a porter showed that, as a father, he knew Solif’s character well.
Just as Turan was about to refuse, showing his displeasure, Rida clapped her hands lightly to redirect attention.
"Come now, Mr. Godis! It’s good to be enthusiastic in conversation, but I’d like to chat with my old friends now. Please make room—"
"Madam, I still have business with these young people."
Perhaps thinking he had found a clue in the fact that the person suspected to be Solif among the three had changed to become a servant, Godis interrupted Rida’s words with a somewhat excited attitude.
Just as they were frowning at this rudeness, a stern voice settled the atmosphere in the reception room.
"Listen here, Baraha."
Although Rida always had a languid attitude that seemed at odds with her youthful face, as if she had lived through everything, now she was glaring at Godis with a cold expression never seen before.
"I welcomed you as a guest and treated you hospitably for several weeks, yet you are even interfering with my meeting with dear old friends. And from what I see, you’re even about to conduct an interrogation."
"I was just—"
"I treated you respectfully as an elder despite being younger than my grandchild, but now you’re making me look completely foolish!"
With a shout, there was a snapping sound as the broken pipe fell onto the tiger skin.
With this intimidating presence, Godis apologized for his rudeness and left the reception room, and only then did Rida let out a deep sigh.
"Such a tiresome fellow. I’m sorry, young Turan, Miss Misha. I’ve shown you an unpleasant sight after bringing guests."
"That person seemed to be suspicious of my servant. I’m worried he might try to harm him if he goes to find him."
"If he were to attempt such a thing, I guarantee he wouldn’t leave Merem alive. He wouldn’t dare do that to me."
This intense reaction, unlike the usually gentle Rida, suggested that she was quite angry because of Solif’s father.
She lightly rang the bell beside her to call someone, then instructed them to prevent Godis from seeking out Turan’s servant.
"When did that person arrive?"
"It must have been a little over two weeks ago."
After saying that, Rida made a somewhat apologetic expression.
"When I returned home and looked at the portrait, I saw that he had exactly the same face as your companion, so I shared the story with my family members as an interesting tidbit, and one of my grandchildren reported it to Baraha’s side to get a magic tool."
Come to think of it, didn’t they say they would give a decent magic tool just for reporting Solif’s location?
While this would be meaningless to someone of Rida’s stature, it would be quite tempting for a young noble.
"So that’s what happened..."
"I must apologize once more for causing you trouble. I’ve scolded that child thoroughly, so please forgive them."
"There’s nothing to forgive. It’s not like I asked you to keep it a secret."
Having come with a favor to ask, Turan gently accepted Rida’s apology.

After lightening the mood by sharing some small talk and recent news, Turan brought up his main purpose.
His companion Meisa, now going by the alias Misha, had been severely injured and he wanted to entrust her treatment to them.
"Hmm? Where is she injured? She looks fine from the outside... No, she actually looks better than before. She was too thin then, but she’s much better now. Though she should put on a bit more weight."
Typically, to elderly people, young people always look too skinny unless they’re seriously obese.
At Rida’s words, Meisa smiled awkwardly and slightly lifted her clothes to reveal the amputation wound below her waist.
Rida widened her eyes in surprise at that horrific sight.
"What is this?"
"She was injured while hunting a powerful magical beast recently. We treated it urgently, but as you can see, it’s in a bad state."
"My goodness... For nobles of your caliber to be injured like this, it must have been stronger than Aikul."
Turan briefly imagined Aikul fighting the giant sea serpent.
With upper-middle tier magic power, similar to Solif before absorbing the giant sea serpent’s magic, the Monkey King was certainly a formidable being, but there was a high possibility he would be powerless before that monster.
"Indeed."
"Fortunately, it’s not a difficult request. Of course, to borrow the power of a healer of my level, you would normally have to fill a room with gold and silver treasures, but I’ll do it for free since there was an unfortunate incident."
At Rida’s playful boast, Meisa bowed her head respectfully to express her gratitude.
"Thank you for your help, Lady Rida."
"It’s nothing. Now, let me resolve this right away—"
Just as she placed her hand on Meisa’s stomach and drew up her magic, Rida’s expression changed.
She stepped back as if startled and muttered quietly:
"Miss Misha, no, who exactly are you...?"
"I was going to explain this first, but Misha is quite powerful. That’s why we came to you, Lady Rida."
Rida looked at Meisa and Turan alternately with a suspicious expression, then groaned, "Ungh."
She seemed to be trying to recall if there was someone with a similar appearance among the nobles of great houses she knew, but couldn’t think of anyone.
"I felt it before, but you truly are a friend with many secrets."
"Would you be willing to help us?"
"Let me check once more."
Fortunately, instead of inquiring further, Rida began examining Meisa’s wound again. Your journey continues on novelbuddy
