Chapter 206: Chapter 206: Was It a Fright?

Holly took the small cake and her smile was particularly bright.

Even though it was just a small cake, it carried Leo Grant’s love for her.

"Are you hungry?"

Leo gently patted Holly’s head and slowly asked.

He was busy at work and couldn’t always take care of this little girl, fearing she might be hungry or cold.

Although Holly was clearly a very independent young girl, in Leo’s eyes she was just a little kid who knew nothing.

She needed to be spoiled and loved.

"No, I’m not a little kid."

Holly shook her head lightly, pouted, and said.

Leo always treated her like a little kid who couldn’t do anything, always worrying if she was hungry.

"To me, you’ll always be a child."

Leo laughed, lowered his head, and kissed Holly on the forehead.

Yes, in his mind Holly would always be a little kid, the one he’d keep in the palm of his hand.

"Let me cook for you, just stay put, okay?"

Leo didn’t plan to say much more to Holly; he went straight into the kitchen intending to start cooking.

"Make enough for one more person, okay?"

Holly reminded him.

Leo nodded, not asking anything, assuming Holly just wanted to eat a bit more.

He didn’t enter the living room, and Rose Sawyer hadn’t come out, so Leo didn’t know she was there.

This little girl usually had a big appetite, so eating more was quite normal and not surprising.

The small girl simply had a big appetite, especially when it came to eating.

Being able to eat is a blessing, right?

"Want some?"

Holly put the cake on the coffee table, glanced at Rose, and asked.

The cake wasn’t big.

"Are you willing to share with me?"

Rose raised her eyebrows and looked at Holly with a serious expression, asking quite seriously.

The cake was just that little bit.

"Of course, I’m not willing to share."

Holly rolled her eyes at Rose; if Rose weren’t her own mother, she wouldn’t even consider asking.

This was a cake Leo bought for her.

Rose: "Then I want to eat it."

Holly: "..."

She divided the cake in half and gave Rose one piece.

"It’s really sweet; this man is worth marrying."

Rose commented that Leo was simply an excellent marriage partner.

He was cold and distant in front of others, but in front of Holly, he showed a different face, gentle and considerate.

She couldn’t find any flaws in Leo.

"Of course, who do you think chose him?"

Holly looked proud, naturally thinking she chose the best because he was Leo, the best Leo in the world.

"Oh, right, I suddenly remembered something."

Rose patted her forehead as if she had just remembered something.

Holly: "Hmm?"

"Did you already acquire the company?"

Rose asked. The other day, when Miles Miller saw her, he kept whining and complaining about Holly.

Listening to him was annoying; she strongly agreed with Holly’s actions, proud to be her daughter.

She wanted to leave, but Miles didn’t let her, kept pulling her to talk about trivial things, which suddenly made her furious and gave him a slap.

The company was hers, and although she hadn’t sought to reclaim it for many years, it wasn’t for lack of desire but rather the lack of ability.

Because of her privileged upbringing, she knew a lot of things, but when it came to business, she wasn’t savvy enough, or she wouldn’t have married Miles.

Her father never approved of Miles because of his background, but due to his strong work capabilities, her father allowed him to join the family.

"Yes, but I transferred it to Nancy Miller."

Holly nodded, planning to tell Rose about it around the New Year.

"Oh."

Rose nodded, her expression and tone indifferent.

She wasn’t unhappy, nor did she mind; she had no interest in it anyway.

Life was great now, not having to work while having money, doing whatever she wanted, going wherever she wished, enjoying impromptu trips.

She loved this kind of life.

"What plans do you and Leo have?"

Rose asked.

Holly had always been independent, and Rose felt such matters should be decided by Holly herself; she would just observe.

Moreover, she knew that Holly was surely aware, her daughter being so smart, she couldn’t possibly be unaware, could she?

She didn’t want to interfere too much in Holly’s love life. Even as her mother, she felt it was her own matter.

Her own marriage had flaws, and she couldn’t predict Holly’s outcome.

"No plans for now, marriage might be a bit later."

Holly was talking with her mouth full, her voice somewhat muffled.

They say marriage is the grave of love; she didn’t know if it would be, but she felt her current relationship with Leo was just fine, and there was no need to rush into marriage.

Rose nodded: "You make your own decision."

The aroma of dishes quickly spread from the kitchen, the fragrance was rich and whetted the appetite.

Leo’s cooking skills were improving every day, which made Holly especially happy.

Her boyfriend had learned to cook for her and kept improving his dishes for her.

When she first met Leo, he was the type who might burn the kitchen down.

"It seems Leo’s cooking isn’t bad at all."

Rose commented, smelling the aroma in the air, with a tone somewhat praising.

For someone born with a silver spoon to be able to cook was truly rare.

"That’s right."

"I’ve seen him go from not knowing how to cook to being able to cook, clear as day."

A happy smile played on Holly’s lips.

If a guy is willing to cook for you, he must really love you.

Rose clicked her tongue.

"Holly, dinner’s ready."

Leo’s voice came over, clearly indicating the meal was prepared.

"Do you think if I go out now, I’ll scare him?"

Rose smiled a sly smile, speaking gently, a hint of mischief in her voice.

Would it be a shock?

Holly looked at Rose, her mouth twitching involuntarily, "Yes."

"Bro, set an extra place."

Holly cheerfully walked to the dining room, with Rose leisurely following behind.

Holly flashed a sweet smile at Leo, speaking in a playful tone.

"Why?"

Leo’s hand didn’t pause as he served the food, nor did he turn to look at Holly, only asked casually.

"Because..." 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞

"My mom is here too."

Holly deliberately paused, blinking at Leo, her eyes hinting at laughter.

My mom is here?

Where?

Leo’s hand froze mid-air, stiffly turning his head to look at Holly, just in time to spot the leisurely Rose arriving slightly late, feeling like his jaw dropped in shock.
