The Soft-Hearted Wife of Mr. Big Shot-Chapter 96: Holly Sawyer’s Mother
Leo Grant looked at Holly with a puzzled expression, his gaze passing over Nancy Miller, and indeed found that these two people had a certain resemblance in some aspects.
He hadn’t noticed it before, but now he saw it.
"Our biological father is Miles Miller..."
Holly slowly revealed these entanglements.
Miles Miller as a father, although she didn’t want to admit it, the facts were there, and she had no choice but to accept them.
She didn’t want to tell Leo about other matters, but Holly felt that this was something she could share with him.
"What about your mother?"
Leo asked. Holly rarely mentioned her mother in her words, and just as she briefly explained, Leo suddenly became curious.
Holly seemed to live alone; even her birthday went by without her mother acknowledging it, which was indeed quite strange.
"She’s sort of in seclusion, I guess."
Holly shook her head gently as she spoke, her face showing helplessness.
After Rose Sawyer moved to Arkenfall, she focused on taking care of her daughter, nurturing her independence, and after Holly was capable of financially supporting herself, Rose packed up and went to live in a place surrounded by nature.
Away from the hustle and bustle of the city, breathing the fresh air of nature, Rose built a house in a small village far from Arkenfall, with flowers and plants growing all around it.
The mountains were beautiful, the water clear and pure. Rose settled down in this picturesque and refreshing place, growing her own vegetables and fruits.
Life was simple, yet extraordinarily rich.
Holly earned her first money at the age of eight by buying many pretty ballpoint pens from a wholesale store and selling them at school. Although the earnings were modest, it represented her first financial gain.
Gradually, she started to gain more financial independence, and by the age of fifteen, she was practically self-sufficient. It was from that year that Rose chose to become a recluse.
"Holly is really independent."
After listening to Holly talk about her mother, Leo’s eyes reflected some comfort. His little girl was indeed very independent.
But her childhood must have been tough, right?
Nancy Miller opened her eyes wide, looking at Holly in disbelief. Holly was truly impressive...
She herself wasn’t half as capable as Holly; she didn’t like her father and always wanted to break away, yet she was constantly spending his money.
She wasn’t independent at all, and compared to Holly, she lagged far behind.
"What do you want to eat tonight? I’ve got to go out for a bit."
Leo’s pocket buzzed with a vibrating phone, and he glanced at the screen, gently ruffling Holly’s hair, speaking with a soft tone.
He had some matters to attend to, but the little girl had her sister to accompany her, which was nice.
"Brother, I want some fried chicken."
Holly licked her lips, looking at Leo with anticipation.
Sometimes, she just suddenly craved something.
"If you ever need anything, feel free to find me; Holly’s sister is my sister, too."
Before leaving, Leo didn’t forget to tell Nancy this.
The little girl’s sister is his sister—it was perfectly reasonable.
"Okay."
Nancy nodded, her face still showing lingering surprise.
She felt that her future would certainly be smooth because she had grasped Leo’s sturdy support.
Having Holly’s backing meant having Leo’s support as well.
Nancy seemed to see a bright future ahead.
"Sister, I feel like I’m dreaming."
Watching Leo leave, Nancy spoke to Holly, her tone full of emotion.
She never imagined being able to interact with Leo so closely, let alone having a conversation with him; the most unfathomable thing was becoming relatives with him.
Reflecting on it now, it seemed like a dream.
"You’ll encounter many unexpected things in the future."
Holly patted Nancy’s shoulder as she spoke slowly.
Her smile was particularly sweet.
"Although you have many shortcuts along your path to growth, I hope that the path you pave with your own efforts will be your own achievement."
Holly looked at Nancy with a serious tone.
Nancy and Leo both had many shortcuts; if Nancy desired something, there was nothing she couldn’t achieve.
The road must be traveled personally, without always relying on others. Holly hoped that Nancy wouldn’t use her resources to fulfill her goals.
The path you carve out on your own is the best one.
"Sister, I understand, and I will do my best."
Nancy nodded.
She never considered relying on Holly or Leo; she wanted to accomplish her dreams through her own efforts. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
——
Autumn had arrived, and the weather was chilly; Holly wore a jacket, enjoying the particularly comfortable fall in Bexley.
Holly was fond of Bexley’s autumn.
"Boss, why aren’t you going to class?"
Diana Curtis found Holly at the pavilion in the school and inquired curiously.
Holly sat inside the pavilion, holding a book with both hands, leisurely reading while the autumn wind gently tousled her hair.
The leaves of the sycamore trees had turned yellow, and the aura of autumn was becoming more pronounced.
"Hmm, it’s pretty boring."
Holly put down the book, folded her hands behind her head, and yawned as she spoke.
Perhaps due to the weather, her drowsiness grew stronger, and she felt sleepy all day.
Go to class?
Forget about it.
She felt that listening to the professor’s lectures on the podium would just make her more drowsy and eager to sleep.
Failing a class? Anyway, she didn’t care; she had already graduated from college, and now it’s just like a game to her.
"Boss, today’s class had a roll call, and you’re definitely marked for failing the end-of-term exam."
Diana sat beside Holly and shrugged as she spoke, her tone quite indifferent.
She was merely greeting Holly, knowing full well that Holly was indifferent to such matters.
"Hmm, it’s a minor issue."
Holly replied nonchalantly and yawned.
"Does Leo know about your inconspicuous identity? Did he say anything?"
Diana was very curious about this matter, looking at Holly gossipingly.
She really wanted to know.
Holly shook her head, "No."
Leo was genuinely kind to her; he didn’t force her to talk about what she didn’t want to, and instead waited for her to willingly share.
"Seems like Leo really cares about you."
Diana looked at Holly with relief; she was genuinely happy for Holly.
Holly had the good fortune to meet a guy who cared about her, which was truly fortunate.
"Right."
Holly didn’t deny it; Leo was indeed good to her.
At least for now, he was great; that young man had given her all his gentleness, and she felt a lot of warmth.
"Leo gives you all his gentleness; he’s a boy whose eyes are full of you. Boss, cherish him."
Diana said slowly, feeling anxious about Holly’s low emotional intelligence and fearing that she might miss out on Leo.
