The SSS Ranked Demon King Goes to the Hero Academy-Chapter 39: Sylvie’s complaints.
Aku found the room’s design strange. After all, he wasn’t accustomed to modern styles like that.
He had lived his entire life in a castle in a world that was in the Middle Ages, so a room like that was strange to him.
The smell of vanilla air freshener that filled the room also struck him as peculiar, but not unpleasant.
In fact, Aku thought it was a pleasant smell.
When the demon king left that white room, the door itself disappeared, leaving him alone in that other room.
Or perhaps not so alone, since as soon as he entered, a familiar voice greeted him.
"Tch, you finally arrive," that voice complained with an irritated tone.
Aku turned toward the origin of that voice, encountering a person he didn’t expect to see again.
Though she looked different.
Her long golden hair fell over her shoulders elegantly.
Among her hair protruded pointed ears, characteristic of elves and fairies.
That girl wore a white dress, simple but no less beautiful for it.
Her green eyes shone like two gems, fixed on Aku, looking at him with reproach and disdain.
The demon king didn’t have to rack his brains too much to discover who it was.
It was Sylvie.
However, she had changed.
The first thing was that she was no longer of diminutive stature, or at least she was larger than her previous form.
While her height was small for a human, closer to that of a child, compared to the small stature Sylvie had before, she had grown considerably.
Another important detail was that those dragonfly wings that so characterize fairies, not to mention being their most prominent element, weren’t there.
Her wings had disappeared, which was certainly strange.
Aku tilted his head seeing Sylvie’s new appearance.
Why did she look like this?
"Aren’t you going to greet me? Damn rude. It really shows you’re a demon king," the girl complained with contempt.
Aku simply shrugged, as if that comment didn’t bother him at all.
"I’m sorry, I simply didn’t expect to see you here," the white-haired young man answered with sincerity and a neutral, flat tone.
Those words seemed to infuriate the fairy more, who frowned as she glared at Aku.
"Wretch! Is that what you say to me after making me wait so long?" the girl roared with clear anger in her voice. "What’s more! How dare you do this? Why the hell did you accept that creature’s deal without even consulting me? Did you want to get rid of me?"
The girl growled as she stamped her foot and crossed her arms.
The demon king couldn’t deny that the idea of separating from Sylvie seemed quite attractive, since after all Aku still didn’t know what she could contribute to his objectives now.
"Well, I didn’t see any need to ask your permission. I’m free to do what I want, you know?" Aku answered with an icy tone.
Sylvie felt a chill at those words, but didn’t let it affect her.
"Bastard! Didn’t we have a deal? Tch, I knew I shouldn’t trust such a disgusting and perfidious being as you," the fairy grumbled with disdain.
Though Aku didn’t seem disturbed in the slightest by those words.
"Deal? Rather I accepted you accompanying me out of simple convenience, but it’s not like I need you in any way," the demon king responded with a coldness that conveyed clear disinterest toward the fairy.
That disdain didn’t please Sylvie at all, whose face turned red with rage as she clenched her fists with anger.
"You! How dare you treat me like this? Especially after I offered you my help!" the golden-haired girl roared with fury.
Aku shrugged, showing no fear whatsoever at the girl’s tantrum.
"To me you’re insignificant, and now that I’ve entered an academy to train heroes, I don’t need you. That’s all," the demon king explained calmly.
That seemed to annoy the fairy even more, however a sharp smile drew itself on her face.
"Are you sure about that? This entire place is surrounded by a barrier that prevents and blocks azoth. In other words, I’m stronger than you right now," the fairy answered with a malicious look.
Though Aku didn’t even flinch at those threats. There was no way a demon king of his caliber would feel intimidated by a simple fairy.
"That barrier was also in the trial, and I still managed to defeat several heroes whose power is surely far superior to yours," Aku answered with a cold and threatening tone.
Sylvie felt chills under the demon king’s gaze, but that didn’t make her back down.
"Really? Fine, I admit I’m weaker than you but it doesn’t mean anything! I’m sure there are people here much more powerful than me, and when I tell them you’re actually the demon king, they’ll surely turn against you," the fairy answered maintaining her smile of superiority, though her lips trembled with fear.
Though those words didn’t affect Aku either. His facial features remained as inexpressive as always.
As if that threat didn’t really strike him as impactful.
"Sylvie... I just have to kill you now and there won’t be any problem," he responded, this time with a cold and deep voice that gave Sylvie chills.
The fairy felt the demon king’s gaze weighing on her. Her body no longer even dared to think.
That psychological pressure being exerted on her was too great to be able to speak.
But Sylvie knew that if she didn’t respond, Aku would carry out his threat.
The fairy swallowed as she responded to the demon king.
"I-it wouldn’t be advisable. I’ve met people while you were fighting. If I disappear they’ll suspect you and accuse you," she responded with a trembling voice.
Aku raised an eyebrow, trying to decipher whether that was true or not.
It was a questionable statement, though at the same time if Sylvie was there, it meant there could be more people waiting as well.
Perhaps companions were characteristic of some heroes.
Alexander had Sylvie, but the heroes before him also had a fairy to guide them.
It was possible that in other worlds that rule also applied, and Aku couldn’t risk them discovering his identity.
After meditating on it internally, Aku sighed.
"Fine, I’ll refrain from killing you for now," the demon king said calmly.
Sylvie felt a gigantic weight lift from her shoulders.
