Alright... it looks like my HP regeneration is pretty high because of the Sun Vampire class. I can almost use my blood manipulation without limits, Neraxis thought with a sigh. It's just a pity that my regeneration is only 100 HP per second and 500 HP per second if under the sun. But if I waste the blood, it's going to go down incredibly fast.
Since he was done with the stat distribution, it was time they moved on to the next area.
"Jane, I believe we're done here. Is this the way out?" Neraxis asked, pointing at the spot the Yeti was guarding a few moments earlier.
It was a strange sight. The snow cleared, revealing a flat plains area. There were very few trees in the distance, yet the stalks of grass were very tall.
It felt like there was some kind of theme. Every nearby area he had visited seemed to be completely out of this world.
Which, if he honestly paid attention, seemed like it was actually the case.
Now then...
"That's indeed the way out, but once we enter, I'd like you two to watch your footing," Jane instructed. "There are monsters hidden in the grass, and you likely won't be able to see them until they bite your legs off. But, if you follow closely behind me, then I'm sure you'll be just fine."
"Yeah, don't worry, medium-sized small tits," Evangeline replied with a smirk. "We'll follow you for the time being."
It's not even making sense anymore...
Jane looked Evangeline up and down, then, without saying anything, began walking toward the plains.
Neraxis and Evangeline followed close behind, and once their feet finally touched the grass, a shiver ran down his spine.
His senses were going off, telling him there were enemies everywhere. And yet, once he looked around, he couldn't spot a single one.
Jane turned to him. "Again. Don't panic. Most of the monsters here only attack once they sense your unease... and right now, the two of you are on very high alert."
[Does this girl think we're idiots?] Evangeline scoffed. [It's almost like she's asking us to remain defenseless.]
I think that's exactly what she's asking us to do, Neraxis replied flatly.
Immediately, Evangeline grabbed her hair in frustration, but didn't pull. Instead, it was almost as if she was infusing blood into her hair, causing it to radiate a certain amount of mana.
Then she let go of her hair and, with a smile, glanced at Jane.
"Okay. We won't budge, promise."
Jane seemed a bit puzzled by her actions, but after a few seconds, she nodded and began walking forward.
As for Evangeline, she flashed him an innocent grin.
What did you do? he asked, walking right beside her. Are you planning on shooting blood out of your hair or something? freewёbnoνel.com
Even though he asked it as a joke...
[Yep.] Evangeline giggled. [Every time one of those monsters gets near me, my hair is going to shoot a blood spike right at them. It should be effective... I hope.]
Neraxis sighed and tugged at his pocket where he hid a miniature sword. And here I thought I was paranoid.
The two bickered for a few moments and finally picked up the pace.
He couldn't see anything that would indicate they were approaching any closer to the exit. And yet, Jane remained calm, leading them through these grassy plains.
Just as he thought everything was going well, she halted, causing Evangeline to bump into her.
"Hey now... did you step into something?" Evangeline asked skeptically.
Jane merely turned her head and placed a finger over her mouth, as if indicating the two of them to be quiet.
They were puzzled, but they weren't stupid. So, for the next few minutes, they remained still.
Neraxis thought she was doing this to mess with them, so he was about to move. But in the very next moment, the ground shook.
Then, a giant pillar emerged, shooting high into the sky.
Or he thought it was a pillar anyway, when in reality, it was a giant plant monster.
It sprouted from the ground and gathered the surrounding grass, taking on a colossal shape.
And yet, Neraxis couldn't inspect it.
"It's not real," Jane whispered. "But if you believe it to be real, then it's going to become real."
"...?"
"What kind of puzzle is that?" Evangeline giggled quietly. "So what? If we believe it to go away, then it's going to go away?"
Instead of a response, Evangeline was met with silence, which further confirmed her random question.
She sighed. "Fair enough..."
Neraxis rolled his eyes and glanced toward the giant grass monster. Its arms were lanky, and it didn't have eyes. Yet it seemed like it was still scanning over them.
[Do you think if I made a lawn mower out of blood, I could deal with that thing?] Evangeline mused.
Neraxis's brows twitched. Don't even think about it...
It took a few minutes for the grass monster to finally leave, and when it did, Jane absentmindedly resumed her walk.
The two followed. But even so, neither of them could understand the purpose of this area.
And as if sensing that, Jane explained.
"This area works by feasting on fears. You two don't really have many fears, so it doesn't work on you..." Jane trailed off. "But your fears have a chance of manifesting. So long as you don't think about them, then—"
"Whoops..." Evangeline muttered, and the moment she did, the ground shook once again.
Another grass monster formed. However, its shape was slightly different.
And when Neraxis finally clocked what it was, he turned to Evangeline with a sigh.
"Are you serious?"
