Leonardo wasn’t some saint without desire.

In a forgotten corner of City Z stood an old housing complex that looked more than a century old.

Including the framed photo of his deceased parents.

They were the tallest structures in the city—symbols of prosperity.

The lower floors housed a massive shopping mall.

Leonardo stepped into one of the hundred elevators in the lobby and selected Floor 239.

It wasn’t even the highest floor.

The elevator shot upward at astonishing speed. The walls were transparent glass, allowing him to see the city shrinking below.

They pierced through the clouds.

Yet it only took about thirty seconds.

When the doors opened, a luxurious corridor greeted him. Golden lines decorated the walls. There were four steel doors on that floor.

In ordinary buildings, a Class 1 apartment would occupy an entire floor.

Here, there were four of them.

Leonardo knew there were even higher classes—but he hadn’t dared to demand that much.

He stopped at the farthest door and entered the PIN Laura had given him.

The door slid open automatically.

What greeted him was a living room so spacious it resembled the mansion interiors he had only ever seen on television.

It was his.

Excitement surged through his chest.

He stepped inside, closed the door, and threw himself onto the soft sofa.

His eyes wandered.

A wide open kitchen.

A private gym room.

A cinema-sized television.

And beyond the glass wall—

A swimming pool overlooking the entire city.

The bedrooms weren’t visible because the apartment had two floors. The rooms were upstairs.

(Boss, that’s easy for me now. Where are you? It feels like you’re very high up.)
