The Strongest Beast Tamer With the Strongest System-Chapter 29: Jack
Floor 1, Layer 17, 12th Gate — Leonardo appeared there.
Ellie remained hidden, but he did not. He simply chose not to reveal his wings.
There was no longer any reason to hide without special necessity. He was human, a social creature. He couldn’t detach himself from society forever.
"Leonardo, you’re here?"
Suddenly, he heard a familiar voice.
It was a young man wearing the same school uniform.
He was slightly thin, with pale white skin. His face was handsome enough to rival top celebrities. He wore a cap and prescription glasses that darkened under sunlight.
As long as he stood still, there was almost no woman who wouldn’t glance at him.
Starboy—that was the most fitting word. But those with sharp eyes knew he wasn’t wearing expensive clothes, just cheap online imports from poorer countries.
His appearance compensated for the lack of luxury in his outfit.
Jack Thompson.
His friend and neighbor, who had contacted him many times since his phone became active again—calls Leonardo never answered.
Not many people knew he was an online game addict who rarely left the house except for school. That was why his skin was so pale. Perhaps only recently had he begun going out more, after awakening.
"Jack," Leonardo greeted.
"Hahaha, I finally see you again... Where did you go after causing that scene in front of school? You know, a lot of people are looking for you now to defend Harvey."
Since it was a friend, Leonardo didn’t rush away.
He lit a cigarette and handed one to Jack.
"Are you alone?" Leonardo asked.
"Yeah. No one wants to team up with me except groups of girls. But I’m afraid they might do something weird," Jack replied, accepting the cigarette.
Leonardo’s lips twitched slightly at that.
Many men would dream of such a situation, but this one seemed genuinely wary—perhaps because some girls had gone crazy over him before.
"Leonardo, people are saying you have incredible power. That’s why you managed to turn everything around."
"Sorry, but I’m a solo player," Leonardo replied.
"You? Can’t you take me with you?" Jack looked stunned, rejected before he even had the chance to ask.
"You know I awakened as an assassin. I’ll definitely be useful," he added.
"Why don’t you join Emma instead? She seems to be getting strong. She should be able to help you," Leonardo said.
The two of them were cousins—their mothers were sisters.
It was a reasonable suggestion.
But Jack’s expression immediately darkened.
"She joined Harvey and became arrogant. I asked her once, but she rejected me—and even told me to just stay home."
"Maybe that’s not a bad idea."
"You? How can you say that? I’ve awakened. If I just stay at home, that’s wasting my luck. I’d rather die in battle than do nothing."
"Oh damn... Leonardo, we need to leave."
He suddenly looked nervous.
Not without reason.
A group of young men wearing the same school uniform was approaching.
At their front stood a young man in a long black coat. He wasn’t as handsome as Jack, but he wasn’t inferior to Leonardo either.
What made him stand out was the dark crimson aura radiating from his body, intimidating enough to make the surrounding air feel heavy.
Thomas Harper.
Margaret’s most influential pursuer at school.
Leonardo grabbed Jack’s arm and pulled him.
A pair of wings appeared on his back, and he took off into the air, carrying Jack with him—shocking everyone around.
Revealing his wings didn’t matter. He preferred avoiding trouble with that man.
Because he could make things even more troublesome than Margaret ever did.
"Leonardo... you?" Jack stared in disbelief at the shrinking ground below them.
Leonardo didn’t respond. He carried Jack toward a river about a hundred meters wide. The area was quiet, filled with abandoned gates that had long been conquered.
"Has he been looking for me since school?" Leonardo asked.
"Yes. He was furious after finding out what you did. He said he would kill you—and even offer a reward to anyone who manages to do it," Jack replied.
Leonardo rolled his eyes.
"I think he’s insane. Margaret has never even responded to him, yet he’s this passionate about defending her. Hmph. He’d probably lose his mind if she dated someone else."
"You know my situation now. Do you still want to join me?" Leonardo asked. "If you keep following me, you might get killed by him too. You need to understand—I have ways to avoid danger and hide. You might not be able to escape."
Jack was about to nod, as if to show he wasn’t afraid—
But Leonardo cut him off.
"Don’t talk about friendship spirit. I mean it. I don’t want anyone becoming a burden."
Jack froze instantly.
His mouth moved slightly, but no words came out.
"Don’t be offended. I’m just being realistic. I won’t reject you if you have the ability to survive the dangers that come because of me. Until you’re strong enough to rely on yourself, rely on what you can. I’ve experienced it already. For those elite families, committing crimes against people like us is no different than stepping on insects. In their eyes, it’s not even a sin."
After saying that, Leonardo took off again.
This time, he didn’t bring Jack with him.
