Chapter 35: Ayumi Fujiwara

At night, Leonardo chose to return to his apartment with Ellie, leaving Liam in the Monster World.

There was no other choice. The wolf was too large. He didn’t yet have a place for him on Earth.

However, he didn’t allow him to do anything except hide, worried he might encounter a stronger enemy.

His next plan was, of course, to open the Last Gate, but he needed more preparation, such as waiting for Liam to obtain Dimensional Wings.

He took a warm shower to refresh himself, then put on casual clothes consisting of short jeans and a cool black T-shirt.

He was hungry, so he went downstairs.

The elevator he used brought him down to the mall beneath the apartment building.

Even as a resident of City Z, this was his first time visiting this mall, because before this he had always been afraid of the prices.

As soon as he arrived, he could only be amazed by the grandeur of this modern shopping center.

Stylish young women, even mature women in their 30s and 40s with charming appearances, could be seen everywhere.

Some clothing stores were famous brands where even the cheapest item could cost more than 5,000 dollars.

There was also a watch store that looked so exclusive that one had to deposit money just to enter.

He once questioned people who bought such expensive items, but now that there was so much money in his account, he became interested, thinking the price might truly match the luxury.

But after thinking about it, he decided not to enter the store.

Enjoying luxury was fine, but there was no need to waste time just for a watch.

Besides, he might forget about it soon after buying it.

His gaze shifted to a luxurious restaurant surrounded by slightly dark glass, hiding the interior, though people inside could probably see outside clearly.

He stepped into the restaurant casually.

It was indeed the most strategic location in the mall, facing the road in front of the mall—one of the busiest streets. Eating while watching the traffic jam outside might give a strange kind of entertainment.

However, as his gaze searched for an empty table, he froze when he saw a young woman from Japan sitting casually, wearing only long jeans and a white shirt with blue stripes.

Her black hair was tied in a ponytail, adding a youthful impression to her naturally beautiful face without makeup.

She was alone, but on her table were two plates, each containing lobster.

Wasn’t this the woman who had bought the Silver Skeleton from him and given him the Resonance Core?

How could she be here?

With her sharp instincts, the woman immediately noticed Leonardo when he looked at her.

However, since Leonardo was wary of her, he chose to act indifferent, selecting an empty table quite far away—even though it didn’t face the road but at least faced the inside of the mall.

He didn’t know who the woman was having dinner with, but that had nothing to do with him.

Maybe she had come with a date, which was the reason she came to City Z from Japan.

But only a few moments later, Leonardo was stunned again.

He saw Margaret come out of the restroom and walk toward the Japanese woman’s table before sitting across from her.

Margaret realized Leonardo’s presence a little late. She only noticed when she saw the Japanese woman’s gaze.

However, her reaction was far calmer than Leonardo expected, as if she had simply seen someone she knew, with no problems between them.

After that, Leonardo saw her speaking with the Japanese woman, seemingly asking something.

When the Japanese woman answered, Margaret looked slightly surprised before glancing at Leonardo again with narrowed eyes.

Leonardo pretended not to notice, choosing instead to look at the dish he ordered—grilled tuna steak priced at around 1,500 dollars.

What he didn’t expect was that Margaret suddenly called him.

Looking at her again, he saw that she had already placed her phone beside her ear.

Leonardo couldn’t guess her intentions.

It seemed she had something to say.

Out of curiosity, Leonardo decided to accept the call.

"Why don’t you come here?" she asked.

Leonardo could see directly that she was speaking.

"Huh? Why should I go there?" he asked back with a confused expression.

"Why? Don’t you want to make me angry again?"

"What kind of question is that? Our matter is finished. Don’t think I’m so petty that I’ll keep bothering you. There’s no benefit in it."

"Hmph, it seems you’ve gotten the life you dreamed of. You know, your development is truly unreasonable. How did that happen?"

"There are always miracles for those who are lucky. Can’t you accept someone else’s luck?" Leonardo replied sarcastically.

"No, you don’t need to worry... I’ve already stopped targeting you. Even though what you did is something I can’t forget, I’ve decided not to continue our conflict."

"Really? I’m actually disappointed. I was hoping for a new conflict because that would be a new path for me to gain big benefits."

Leonardo glanced at the woman and saw her expression worsen, even if only for a moment.

"Let’s not talk about it anymore. Come here. Ayumi wants to talk to you. She said she’s interested in you. She’s from the Fujiwara Family, the most prestigious family in Japan. Being close to her isn’t just luck—it’s also a huge opportunity."
