Chapter 638: Chapter 632: The Secret of Inheritance

Battle Gym, VIP room.

“Uncle Goldsmith, has Rosewood College rejected us again?” Wayne Goldsmith asked in a soft voice, watching the invincible David Jones on the big screen.

“Yes.”

Max Goldsmith frowned deeply and said, “Before the end of the Seven Trials of Azura Dragon or the return of Lilith Hoyle to school, Rosewood College forbids us from contacting David Jones.”

It must be said, he had been dizzyingly busy lately trying to eliminate the Sacred Soul Sect’s influence within the Flowery Kingdom, taking city teleportation circles daily to hunt down those rats who had protectors lurking in the shadows.

Unfortunately, after wasting so much time, he had managed to kill only two Epic Evil Trainers who lost their senses and eradicated about a dozen bases, of which five were willingly abandoned by the enemies as they cut their losses.

If it weren’t for the certainty that the Goldsmith family had no entanglements with the Sacred Soul Sect, Max Goldsmith might even think he was helping the Sect by clearing away the aftermath of their Mysterious Beast experiments.

Luckily, the emergence of David Jones put an end to his frenetic days of constant travel. Otherwise, he might still be busy chasing down Evil Trainers.

“Not even giving face to our Goldsmith family?” Wayne turned his head.

“Because of the last incident, many Beast Control Powers believe our Goldsmith family is the protective umbrella of the Sacred Soul Sect.”

Max Goldsmith said speechlessly, “Furthermore, with the awakening of the Heavenly Azure Dragon, finding an Azure Dragon Envoy who is compatible with the sacred spirit is currently Rosewood College’s top priority, and David Jones happens to have obtained an inheritance spot. Before the dust settles on the Azure Dragon Inheritor, even if I were to offer the prestige of our ancestors, it would be useless.”

“If it’s not allowed openly, what about private communication?” Wayne tapped his index finger on the opulent tabletop.

“That’s also forbidden. Our presence in Rosewood City to watch the national competition is already the limit of Blake Easton’s tolerance. If we contact David Jones during this critical period, Blake Easton and Lawrence Boris will take personal action.”

At the mention of these two names, Max Goldsmith, who was legendary in strength, wore a look of solemnity.

If it really came to a fight, he was no match for Blake Easton and Lawrence Boris, both of them.

“Disappearing for over two months in the Star Moon Tower, re-emerging not long after and advancing from initial Class V to Class VI King, I think there’s a high chance that the Soul-Refining Bodhi Tree was devoured and absorbed by David Jones!” Wayne mumbled and then turned his head to look at Uncle Goldsmith with a serious expression.

“Uncle, just before going into seclusion, the elder ancestor said that the retrieval of the Firewood Kylin does not really matter; what’s most important is confirming the whereabouts of the God Quenching Bodhi Tree!”

Max Goldsmith nodded slightly. Only the core members of the Goldsmith family knew that the God Quenching Bodhi Tree was tied to the elder ancestor’s future chance at becoming a deity.

Though he didn’t understand how an SSS tier mesona of Class VII had the ability to aid the ancestor in becoming a deity, he had no choice but to follow orders.

“Wayne, do you have a way?”

Noticing the confidence in his nephew, Max Goldsmith’s heart already anticipated a plan, yet his face skillfully showed curiosity.

Wayne smiled slightly, the Star Ring on his finger twinkling faintly as five jade boxes suddenly appeared on the table.

Max Goldsmith’s eyes shifted, easily identifying through the seals on the jade boxes that the Pet Resources inside were four Time Stones and one Cosmos Stone.

“Uncle, we may not initiate contact, but that does not mean David Jones can’t come to us of his own accord,” Wayne’s gaze locked onto the Cosmos Stone.

Max Goldsmith looked at his nephew with a satisfied smile, taking out a jade box from his Star Ring.

“What is this?” Wayne Goldsmith asked curiously.

Max Goldsmith didn’t hide anything and said, “While Time resources are indeed incredibly rare, one Time Stone and a Cosmos Time Stone are already enough for David Jones to research for many years, he may not necessarily come to bid again.

But he would not easily miss the SS tier Level VII fire and wood dual-type resource, the ‘Golden Bell Spiritual Branch’, which can eliminate the cold nature of the God Quenching Bodhi Tree and condense the psychic energy.”

“Uncle Goldsmith is truly impressive, with a two-pronged approach. I don’t believe David Jones won’t take the bait,” Wayne Goldsmith complemented, and laughter from the uncle and nephew reverberated in the private room.

Under the bright night sky, two unnoticed figures were quietly watching the competition.

“This kid isn’t bad, just fights a bit dirty, doesn’t seem like a young person,” said an old man dressed in a sloppy Rosewood College uniform with disheveled hair, touching his long beard and murmuring reflectively.

This man was none other than Downey Hoyle, the former Academic Affairs Director of Rosewood College, a legendary powerhouse who backed David Jones for the inheritance spot at the high-level meeting.

“The Goldsmiths and Sacred Soul Sect have become more and more restless over the years, what’s your take on this?” Blake Easton asked.

“After all is said and done, besides ascension to godhood, what other aims could we old folks have?” Downey Hoyle took out a dirty liquor flask and took a swig with abandon, “The guy from Sky Capital is certainly no exception.”

“Those two youngsters are a bit restless,” Blake Easton’s comment made Downey Hoyle open his blurry drunken eyes wide.

“Eh, you’re actually taking interest in a junior who’s just stepped into King class!”

“No matter what, David Jones is the contemporary Rosewood Leader, and in Lilith Hoyle’s absence, I must look after her disciple,” Blake Easton’s voice rang out after a pause.

“Heh, I’m not concerned with the affairs between you two, but Ingersoll Harvey the elder once said that the future Immortal powerhouse will arise from the new generation of Rosewood Leaders; yet tens of millennia have passed, and the dozens of Leaders recognized by the Solar Universe Elixir Furnace, not one has ascended to godhood.”

Having said this, Downey Hoyle took another gulp from his flask and added, “If even the two of us, Leaders with the most hope of breaking through to immortality, fail, I have no idea which future generation of Leaders could surpass us!”

Upon finishing, seeing that Blake Easton ignored him, Downey Hoyle laughed, his hearty laughter causing the fragments of the laws of heaven and earth around him to slowly emerge, “Don’t tell me you think like Lilith Hoyle, that David Jones has the potential to surpass legend, all based on that elusive Power of Destiny?”

Blake Easton gave Downey Hoyle a sidelong glance, “That’s not your concern, whether to bet on the future is my business.”

Downey Hoyle clicked his tongue in dissatisfaction and stood up to leave, “I’ll go give Sky Capital a heads up, as for the junior who’s just stepped into legend in the box below, you find time to deal with him yourself.”

After a few steps forward, Downey Hoyle paused, “Right, I admit this generation’s Rosewood Leader has some ability and potential, but for the greater good, it’s best you don’t hold any other ideas. After all, the position and power of an Azure Dragon Envoy are not inferior to an Immortal’s.”

Hearing this, Blake Easton chose to be silent.

Indeed, the greater good is paramount. They all knew too well what it meant for the Flowery Kingdom to gain another Azure Dragon Envoy. Otherwise, Lilith Hoyle would not have chosen to help David Jones fight for that precious inheritance spot, nor would he have decided to support from behind.

“You don’t need to tell me, I have my own plans,” Blake Easton exhaled a breath of turbid air and looked up at the vast array of stars.

“I hope so.” With a breeze blowing by, Downey Hoyle’s figure vanished into the night sky.

For a long while, Blake Easton lowered his head, choosing to remain in place and continue watching David Jones’s competition.

As for whether David Jones would eventually become an Azure Dragon Envoy, it all depended on his own destiny.
