The Supreme Soldier in the City-Chapter 485 - 496: The Wives Group is Here
Chapter 485: Chapter 496: The Wives Group is Here
Lucy didn’t take advantage of the opportunity to spend the night with John Brown in the same bed. Just being able to lie down with him for a while was enough for her. Around eleven o’clock, when her other three good friends went to bed, she left with John Brown.
John Brown first took Lucy home. Lucy’s home in the Capital of SSUP is quite famous, the Sanker Family residence—a historic courtyard house with around twenty entries. It occupies a vast area and is definitely a notable sight in the Capital of SSUP. Unfortunately, not just anyone can get inside, not even John Brown could sneak in unnoticed.
The Sanker Family is large with strong official connections, and the security here is extremely tight. It’s just that ordinary people on the outside can’t sense it.
By the time John Brown got home, it was already past Twelve O’Clock. Opening the door and entering, he found Emily Berns still awake, sitting on the sofa.
"Why are you still up? Is the daughter asleep?" John Brown asked casually as he came in.
Emily Berns rolled her eyes at John Brown and said, "You went off having a good time with Lucy, how can you still care about us mother and daughter?"
John Brown walked over and sat on the chaise beside Emily Berns, saying, "What kind of good time? I was just helping Lucy with some things." Although helping Lucy was indeed quite enjoyable today, he couldn’t tell Emily Berns that.
Emily Berns stared into John Brown’s eyes, skeptically saying, "It seems your relationship with Lucy is quite unusual. I’ve never heard of Lucy being so close to any man before."
John Brown shrugged and said, "It’s fine if you don’t believe it."
Emily Berns pursed her lips and said, "What’s with your attitude? Even though our daughter has been born to you, you’re still unwilling to answer?"
"It’s fine to ask, but there’s no need to overthink it."
"If you say so." Emily Berns was actually most worried about John Brown having feelings for Lucy. Lucy was just too powerful. She knew if she had to compete with Lucy, she would fall short in every way, not being able to contend at all. However, with John Brown’s attitude, it seemed there was really nothing between him and Lucy. So long as Lucy wasn’t in the picture, Emily Berns wasn’t worried about Gina and Melody Yoody; she was confident she could keep John Brown by her side.
"Alright, it’s late. We should get some sleep." John Brown stood up and yawned.
Emily Berns also stood up, moved in front of John Brown, looked up, and said, "I’ve been waiting for you so late, and there’s not even a little gesture before bed?"
John Brown lowered his head to look at Emily Berns and said, "What kind of gesture do you want?"
"Why are you like this? Can’t you be a little nicer to me? Can’t you kiss me?" Emily Berns pouted, her expression so endearingly mischievous, she seemed like a completely different person from the former mischievous girl.
John Brown coughed lightly and said, "Emily..."
"Mwah..." At this moment, Emily Berns tiptoed up to kiss John Brown, her face instantly turning red as if about to drip blood, and she turned and dashed back to the room she shared with their daughter.
John Brown was a little taken aback, not because of the kiss, but by Emily Berns’ reaction. Already a mother, yet kissing him made her blush like a young girl. It was indeed peculiar.
But upon reflecting, John Brown realized that even though Emily Berns was a mother, emotionally, she was still quite naive. She had never truly dated him before. Her heart seemed twisted before, and now they were together for the child’s sake, making this almost Emily Berns’ first real attempt at love—hence her reaction.
One must admit, this naive Emily Berns was truly quite adorable.
Returning to the other bedroom, Sarah Grandy was already in deep sleep, sprawled ungainly on the bed.
These days, John Brown had been sleeping in the same room as Sarah Grandy. Emily Berns surprisingly hadn’t said anything about it, and in fact, had established quite a good relationship with Sarah Grandy. Nobody knew what was truly on her mind.
Pushing Sarah Grandy’s legs aside, John Brown pulled the thin blanket over her small belly. The girl was wearing a small thin nightgown that had hiked up, revealing her underwear and a segment of her abdomen. Firstly, this was too alluring, and secondly, he feared she might catch a cold.
Though Sarah Grandy was almost college-aged now, in John Brown’s eyes, she was just a kid, so no matter how she misbehaved, he wouldn’t do anything to her.
Waking up in the morning, Sarah Grandy was all smiles. Not only did Emily Berns notice, but even little Emily Brownen saw it and asked in her childish voice, "Auntie, why are you so happy?"
The little girl used to call Sarah Grandy her sister, but Sarah Grandy was determined to be John Brown’s partner, so how could John Brown’s daughter call her sister? That would mess up the generations. Thus, Emily Brown changed to calling her Auntie.
At this moment, Sarah Grandy cheerfully replied, "Auntie’s just happy today because Emily was so good!"
Emily Brown immediately burst with joy, saying, "It’s my achievement then. Auntie, you’ll have to buy me a present!"
"Sure, anything you want, Auntie will buy for you." Sarah Grandy laughed heartily.
