The Thorne of Destiny-Chapter 125: We Have To Leave
Julian’s eyes gleamed in understanding when he finally understood his father’s words. He was also thinking about all the benefits his family could gain from this. However, different from his father, he was planning to have an even ’closer’ relationship with Bella.
If he could somehow gain her favor, it would be like rising to the heavens in a single step. All those who had mocked him earlier, he would make pay.
He could still hear Wyatt’s taunting words in his ear when he came back from the Misty Mountains. That humiliation was not something he would forgive.
’Even that bitch Clara. Hehe, it would be fun to see her squirming under me.’ He chuckled to himself as his thoughts turned dark very quickly.
He left his father alone with more motivation than ever to complete this mission.
The next day, Adrian was out in the city shopping for some supplies. He was planning on refining some more pills with his new Moonjade cauldron. He had been excited to try it out ever since he had gotten it.
He had only been holding himself back because there had been more important things to do. Now that there was no more pressing issue, he was eager to start refining.
Jayson and Olivia needed more pills to support their cultivation journey. Over the past year, both kids’ realms had increased. Jayson, who was now thirteen years old, had risen from the Sixth level of the Qi condensation realm all the way to the Eighth level.
He had increased his realm twice in one year, which was very surprising. However, what was even more shocking was Olivia’s transformation. From a mortal who had no cultivation, she had become a cultivator at the Third level of the Qi condensation realm.
What did this mean? Adrian wondered about it when he found out. That meant she was a genius. One that could compare to him in terms of talent. In fact, if she continued with this pace, she could very well break his record of the fastest to break through to the Foundation Establishment realm in the House of Thorne.
Though her rapid increase in cultivation was largely due to her talent, there were also a few other factors that influenced it. For starters, the pills. Yes, those pills that Adrian had refined for her were indeed very helpful.
When he was younger, Adrian was not allowed to consume pills to help with his cultivation. His parents didn’t want him to take shortcuts and wanted him to work hard. They also didn’t want impurities to build up in his body.
It would not affect him now, but the buildup of impurities from pills would affect him in his later stages of cultivation. It wasn’t worth it just for the quick boost it would provide now.
However, Olivia’s case was different. The pills she was consuming were of a very high grade. Virtually everything had pill veins, with a few of them having pill clouds. There was almost no impurity in them, and whatever little accumulated was expelled when she broke through.
There was also her cultivation technique. Adrian had given her the cultivation technique, the Verdant Bloom Scripture. It was a Profound rank cultivation of the wood element and was incredibly valuable. It could allow her to reach the Transcendent realm in the future.
Adrian transferred the knowledge directly to her mind, where it was stored safely. It was a neat trick he had learned when he first received the inheritance, and it allowed him to avoid having to give out physical copies to those he wanted to pass his techniques.
The Verdant Bloom Scripture was a very difficult scripture, especially for a mortal who didn’t have any cultivation at all. Adrian was initially skeptical but later decided to give it to her when he saw how her eyes lit up in joy anytime she was holding a flower or talking about plants.
She seemed to like plants and nature in general very much. She even had a little flower bed at home where she planted all sorts of flowers. Since she was just nine years old when she started cultivating, she hadn’t had her affinity tested yet.
Giving her such a high-ranked cultivation technique of one of the immortal elements could be considered a gamble on Adrian’s part. According to his thought process, if she were unable to comprehend it, it wouldn’t be too late to have her switch to one of the mortal element cultivation techniques.
However, it seemed his gamble paid off. Not only was she able to comprehend it, he was able to confirm that she had the affinity of the wood element. Having an affinity with an immortal element meant she was a genius who would be sought after even among major sects.
If one day, he found himself in a dangerous situation, she could still escape to safety. As for Jayson, Adrian was still contemplating the issue. As he continued his stroll along the streets, he began hearing some very unpleasant news.
A merchant with a caravan was busy talking to one of his customers. From the conversation, Adrian heard the words that made him freeze in his tracks.
"Did you hear? The City Lord has ordered a city-wide search for a rogue Foundation Establishment cultivator. They say he might be connected to the beast tide!"
Adrian’s grip on the herbs he was about to buy tightened imperceptibly. His mind raced as he processed the information.
The rogue Foundation Establishment cultivator they were looking for was definitely him. It was the same tactic that was used at the entrance of the Misty Mountains.
However, the only difference was that Julian was the one behind it. Was he also the reason for this as well? If so, how big was his influence in making the City Lord do something for him?
Who was he exactly? All these questions stormed his mind as he forced himself to calm down. He didn’t know that Julian was the son of the City Lord, or that this operation was ordered by the Young Mistress of the House of Vyre.
What he did know was that he needed to act quickly. Even though he was sure that Julian didn’t know his appearance, he didn’t want to take any chance. If his house was to be investigated, he was sure that he would be detained.
Three children, all less than eighteen years of age with their level of cultivation was certainly uncommon. That alone was enough for the spotlight to be on them.
They had to leave the city.
After coming to this conclusion, he turned around and began walking back to the manor. His steps were calm and unhurried as if he were unbothered by the current situation. However, internally, the opposite was the case.
His mind was currently in turmoil. Just when he thought he could relax and take it easy for a while, this situation occurred. And it was all because of that idiot, Julian.
He resolved to pay him back for this inconvenience one day.
Meanwhile, in another part of the city, four individuals could be seen sitting around a table. The atmosphere in the room was serious. No one spoke for a while, just focusing their attention on the piece of paper in the center of the table
Finally, after a few seconds of quiet, one of them broke the silence.
"These fuckers are really starting to get on my nerves." A man said in a guff, annoyed tone. He was clearly not pleased by whatever was written on the paper.
"First the visit of the Vyre princess delays us, making us waste time doing nothing, now this manhunt. I’m starting to think this city is playing with us." Another male voice responded.
"I know right? I was so bored. I was looking forward to finding my new toy and having a lot of fun with him. This just makes everything much more difficult. Hmph!" A female voice sounded next. Her tone was seductive, yet her words expressed her dissatisfaction with the current situation.
As the three individuals complained, the voice of the one sitting at the head of the table suddenly rang out, silencing them.
"That’s enough everyone." Those words made the remaining three individuals quiet down. Seeing that he had their attention now, he continued his statement.
"It seems that you guys aren’t too happy about this new development." He said, this time, in an almost playful tone.
"Hmph! Isn’t that obvious? Why would we be happy when this city has been disrupting our plans before we even started." The first man spoke.
"Yeah. This all seems very suspicious. Since that stupid Vyre princess showed up, this city has been weird. Are we sure this isn’t a scheme orchestrated by them?"
The second man questioned. His question made them all keep quiet. Thinking about it now, there was a certain merit to his words. The recent situations were too strange, and it wouldn’t be far-fetched to think it was a planned orchestration by somebody.
However, they were quickly pulled out of their thoughts by their leader’s voice. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
"It doesn’t matter if someone is orchestrating this. As long as it’s not affecting us, there’s no need to think too deeply about it." He said before taking a sip from his cup.
"Rather than cause us trouble, this situation could actually be of great help to us." He said, this time with a smile on his face.
