Chapter 127: Reckless Action

Julian was suddenly interested in this case. Initially, he was only here to make some rounds. Since he was the one in charge of the search, he had to step out and at least look like he was doing something.

He couldn’t just lounge at home all day. He had to show that he was putting in effort. This visit was supposed to be a simple one.

They had received a report of a ’suspicious’ Foundation Establishment realm cultivator. In reality, this individual was simply someone who fit the criteria they were looking for.

A rogue cultivator with no backing and connections. He was the perfect fit when they needed someone to take the blame. The plan was simple.

They would announce that they had found the one responsible for the beast tide, while presenting his body to Bella and Elder Glenda. They were obviously not going to present an alive individual to them.

They would simply claim that he was too tough and they had they couldn’t capture him without using lethal force. It was a flimsy excuse, but without any evidence, they would have no choice but to accept it.

Anyways, that was just the plan if they didn’t find the intended person. Who knows, they could get lucky and find the actual person.

But now, this situation they found themselves in was unexpected. It was as if the person knew they were coming and intentionally fled. Even if he was being lazy, there were some things Julian would still take seriously.

"What did this man look like?" Julian finally asked after a moment of silence. Hearing the question, the inn manager’s face made a strange expression.

GULP!

He swallowed loudly before he responded.

"I-I don’t know." He said hesitantly.

"Huh! What do you mean you don’t know?" Julian asked, confused.

"W-When they came to rent this courtyard, they were all wearing cloaks, so I couldn’t see their faces."

Julian’s face twitched in annoyance. He was really starting to get fed up with this man. He had not given a single positive response since he had come here.

He was even tempted to silence him right then and there. However, he held himself back. It wouldn’t be a good look for him if he were to do that right now

Also, it was a little strange when he thought about it. A Foundation Establishment realm cultivator who hid his identity when renting a simple manor in the outer regions of the city. It was definitely suspicious.

From the reports he had received from the inn manager, this man rented this courtyard close to a year ago, far before the beast tide occurred.

Perhaps he was busy laying the groundwork for his plan. The more he thought about it, the more Julian convinced himself that they had found the actual culprit.

Even if he wasn’t the one, at the very least, he was a suspicious individual.

He turned towards the soldiers who accompanied him and ordered.

"Find out everything you can about those who lived here. I meant to know when they left this courtyard. Interrogate all the neighbors and shops that are around this area."

"Yes, Young Master. The soldiers bowed before dispersing to carry out his orders."

Meanwhile, Adrian was making his way toward a different part of the city. While Julian’s looking for him was indeed problematic, he couldn’t just sit around hiding.

He had to find ways to increase his strength. Before, this wasn’t something he would have attempted, but now he had no time to be considerate.

He needed to become stronger for what was to come. Just before he entered a different inn, he deftly stepped into a quiet alley. He quickly put on the Veil of a Hundred Shadows.

With his disguise on, he entered the inn smoothly. He rented a small room without issue and quickly made his way inside. Now that he was inside, he took off the Veil and transformed back to his original form.

Without wasting time, the air in the room trembled, and Adrian disappeared. He appeared inside the Blood Star. He found a secluded spot that was near the Rainbow Rose, but not close enough that he would disturb it.

Adrian sat down cross-legged. In his hand, a pill bottle appeared in his hand. This was the same pill bottle that he found inside the storage ring of the Hundred-Faced thief.

He opened it, and immediately, a wave of medicinal essence wafted out, permeating the surroundings. The aroma was so overpowering that Adrian felt invigorated just by inhaling it.

"Phew! That was just as intense as before." Adrian said after taking a deep breath. The same thing had happened when he checked the contents of the bottle the first time.

It was even a bit tamer this time. When he first checked it, just breathing in the aroma made him feel high. His head was fuzzy and filled with clouds. It was as if he had ingested a powerful narcotic drug.

Inside the bottle were five pills, all Rank 5. They weren’t ordinary Rank 5 pills. All of them had pill veins. Adrian didn’t know what kind of pills these were.

Even though he had a complete inheritance from a master alchemist in the Sage of Slaughter, he still couldn’t access most of it. Like the cultivation techniques and martial skills, he wasn’t strong enough to access all of the information.

However, from what he could tell, these pills held a lot of energy. Energy that he could use to increase his cultivation. That’s right, Adrian was going to use these pills to increase his strength.

This was a very risky endeavor. He was just a Foundation Establishment realm cultivator. The energy in a Rank 5 pill was not something he could handle.

If he were reckless, his body could burst from the sheer amount of energy that would be rampaging through it. For him, it was no different from consuming a very potent poison.

However, he had no choice. This was the only way he could think of for now.

After taking a deep breath, Adrian took out one of the pills. Without hesitation, he popped it into his mouth.

Adrian’s body convulsed the moment the Rank 5 pill dissolved on his tongue. A torrent of raw, violent energy erupted inside him, surging through his meridians like molten lava.

His veins bulged, his skin flushed crimson, and a guttural scream tore from his throat, but no sound escaped the Blood Star’s isolated space.

Pain.

It was unlike anything he’d ever felt before. A searing heat surged through his meridians like a flood of molten gold. His body trembled uncontrollably as the torrent of energy slammed against the limits of his body, threatening to tear it apart.

If he weren’t cultivating his physical body, he probably wouldn’t have been able to handle this pain. His body was already showing signs of swelling.

Adrian gritted his teeth, trying to calm himself down. He immediately began channeling his cultivation technique. This proved to be the right decision he immediately felt a small wave of relief.

The energy that had been rampaging now seemed to flow through his meridians much more smoothly.

Pop!

A small popping sound could be heard coming from his body. Adrian had broken through. He had finally entered the late stage of the Foundation Establishment realm.

However, he wasn’t done yet. The energy in that one pill was far too much for it to be used up in just one minor breakthrough. He continued cultivating, and after about an hour;

Pop!

Another popping sound could be heard. Adrian had broken through once again. He was now an eighth-level Foundation Establishment realm cultivator. By now, Adrian’s swelling had reduced quite a bit, and he was almost back to his normal self.

However, his face told a different story. If one were to look at Adrian right now, they would see him gritting his teeth in pain. His meridians were strained from taking in the huge amount of energy.

If he were to continue, there was a high chance that he would damage them. Still, Adrian didn’t stop. He closed his eyes to bear with the pain and continued cultivating.

After another hour,

Pop!

A popping sound could be heard for the third time. Adrian had broken through once again. He was now at the ninth level of the Foundation Establishment realm. He had finally reached the peak of the Foundation Establishment realm.

However, he didn’t have time to celebrate. The energy from the pill was still coursing through his body. However, instead of continuing his cultivation, he stopped.

The stopping of the cultivation technique caused the energy to start going rampant inside Adrian’s body, causing him to groan in pain. Sweat had already pooled on his forehead, and his breathing was ragged.

He was incredibly tired. However, he couldn’t stop now. Adrian resumed his cultivation session. Only this time, he wasn’t cultivating his Qi. He was cultivating his body.

The technique he was now using was the Diamond Sovereign Physique. He was already at the mid-level of the bronze body. Now, in order to advance further, he decided to use the remaining energy from the pill.
