Chapter 119: Ch 119: What to Do- Part 1

Whatever atmosphere descended onto us inside the car did not last long. As soon as we entered the Luminous guild, Lynn called for a meeting and other top hunters quickly gathered.

I could see Edward, Lee Minho and other top hunters. The only one not here was Kesha and Rhiner for... obvious reasons.

Other than that, the other Association hunters were missing as well. But their absence did not go unnoticed by people around us either.

"Where are Rhiner and Kesha? Did you forget to tell them about this meeting?"

Lee Minho joked around, but the serious atmosphere made his joke fall flat.

Before anyone could panic or make up any more words, Lynn took control of the situation and his presence commanded the people around him.

"You all, listen to me carefully. The fire at the association, you all noticed that it was not a normal one either, right? And that dungeon that opened felt fresh as well. It all points to the same thing — they got targeted by the dungeons and the monsters deliberately."

Lynn told everyone and a lot of hunters gave him a look of disbelief.

No one wanted to believe that the dungeons had a will of their own because that would make fighting them much more difficult for everyone. But they all could not stay in the dark either.

Since the hunters had fallen quiet, I took this time to step forward and speak up as well.

"The dungeons are likely being opened by the high priests for some purpose. I am going to tell you information that is top secret now. Please make sure this does not leak out and cause a mass panic."

I told the top hunters and they looked star-struck to see me standing in front of them.

But as flattering as their looks of admiration were, we needed to focus on more serious matters at hand.

The more I spoke about what I had experienced and observed, the more the hunters around me looked shocked and uncomfortable.

They clearly had no idea what to think or do at this point.

I did feel bad for them, but they needed to hear the truth before they experienced it themselves and fell victims to the dungeons.

"So, the real danger behind the dungeons are those high priests and priestesses? Lynn even lost the fight? How are we supposed to defeat those people?"

Someone questioned, looking panicked, and Lynn was quick to correct him.

"I did not lose the fight, I just got caught off-guard. If we fight again fair and square, then there is a solid chance that I would win. But you are right, that is not the problem."

Lynn told everyone and a few hunters looked suspicious of his words. They did not believe Lynn and for good reasons.

But panicking was not going to resolve anything and I clapped my hands to grab everyone’s attention.

"There is no point in thinking of what would happen if we fight our enemy. Our objective should be to avoid that fight and make sure their lord does not wake up. So all of you need to be careful and immediately report back if you find anything suspicious out there."

I told everyone and they all exchanged a look before nodding back at me.

"We got it. We understand what we need to do. But will it truly work? If those high priests are as powerful as you say, then won’t it be better to avoid dungeons?"

As soon as the hunter said those words, he realized how stupid that sounded. But it was a valid concern a lot of hunters had.

"Unfortunately, I cannot tell you all to avoid dungeons altogether. They are a safety risk to the citizens and a single break can cause a lot of harm. We will have to try our best not to get hurt out there."

I told the hunters and a lot of them had a bitter look on their faces. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶

"Tsk, that’s easy for you to say. After all, you aren’t the one who has their life on the line here. We low-level hunters are... sorry, I overspoke."

The hunter realized halfway that his protest did not work. Especially when it came to me because I had already thrown my life away for the people once.

I, out of all people here, was more qualified to speak about sacrifices and keeping humans safe.

But I did feel sorry for the young hunters that had family and were afraid to lose their lives. Grief was not something that came easy to people.

"I understand your anger and your sorrow. But for now, we need to focus on what’s important and what we can do for the people we love. If you keep these words in your mind, you will be just fine."

I told the hunters and they bit their lips. Lynn continued off where I left as he gave them all a look.

"You all are welcome to be cowards and run away from the important task. But just know that the next victim of the dungeons can be someone you love as well. As long as you are ready to accept that possibility, there is nothing else for you to worry about."

The alpha spoke with confidence and a lot of people flinched at his words.

They were all people who had families or loved ones who had brushed off against the dungeon and gotten traumatized.

"Well, I am in. I am young but I don’t have people to care for. So I will be the perfect bait. I am sure you all will join me as well."

Lee Minho asked as the other hunters shuffled around him. They all looked away at first but Lee Minho’s stare did not allow them to look away from him.

Ultimately, they had no choice but to start agreeing one by one.

I felt a little relieved by this and sorry as well. But Lee Minho gave me a small smile that seemed to reassure me a little that things would be just fine.
