Chapter 166: Ch 166: This is goodbye- Part 1

"See? My story was nothing new or original. It was not even worth telling. Don’t let it get you down. You should always be happy about your own success."

Theo told me, and I felt sorry for him.

From what I heard, he had been abused since childhood, but he did not even consider it as abuse. For him, it had been a common thing that everyone went through.

Looking at Theo and how happy he was, I never imagined that he had a past like that. He never showed it on his face or anything.

"About those scientists—"

"I don’t know what happened to them or who they were. I just left them and hoped that they would be smart enough to keep their distance. I did blow up the facility, though."

Theo told me in a cheerful voice. Even when the topic we were talking about was grim, he looked happy speaking up. He was someone who shocked me constantly with how mature he was.

"Is that why you came to me? Because you thought I could help you out?"

I asked Theo, and he looked at me with a smile.

"Hmm, maybe? I am not so sure about that myself. What made me fixated on you? Why did it have to be you? Why did my eyes follow you from the first moment we met? None of these were topics I knew anything about. But I just know that it had to be you."

Theo told me, and he looked convinced about it. His eyes kept looking straight into mine, not turning away for even a second. He was rather bold and carefree in his actions.

I felt a blush creeping up my face, and I turned away. I felt like I would do something stupid if I looked at Theo... like kiss him.

"Anyway, I think we have talked enough. How do you feel? Can you move?"

Theo asked as he extended his hand toward me and helped me get up. I took his extended hand, and once I was on my feet, I followed him out.

He took me to the border of the dungeon, from where I could see into the city once more. It was chaos everywhere as people ran around.

I needed to find a way to get them out of here before they got consumed by the dungeon.

I pressed myself against the barrier to see more clearly, and a body pressed against me from behind.

Theo’s chest moulded itself against my back, causing me to pause and feel every muscle. A pair of arms wrapped themselves around my chest, causing me to shudder and want to remain there forever.

My brain recalled the sensation of these arms moving all over me and touching me in places I did not even know I had just a few hours ago.

’S-Stop thinking dirty thoughts. This is not what I am here for—!’

I reminded myself as I tried not to pay attention to Theo standing behind me. But it was so difficult. Theo’s presence made things so difficult for me, and I was not able to focus on him.

"Don’t worry. I know you are worried, and I am worried as well. We can worry together if you want to."

Theo’s voice made my body shudder, and I felt like the heat from before was slowly creeping back over my body.

Before it could take over completely, I elbowed him so that he would back off.

"We don’t have time for this right now. We can play later if you want to. For now, we need a way to save everyone in this dungeon."

I told Theo, and he looked back at me.

"Do we need to save everyone in there? Most of these people are not good or nice. They are people who won’t think twice about killing someone they don’t like. Are you sure you still want to take that risk?"

Theo asked me in a genuinely confused voice. He could not seem to understand what I wanted or why I was wasting time with these people.

I suddenly felt sorry for him because it was clear that he did not understand why I would want to save someone who would only cause trouble in the future. And truthfully, I could not explain it either.

"Hmm, maybe you are right. Most of these people are not ’good people.’ But they are still regarded as people, and I would rather not have them die on my watch. So let’s just say I am doing all this for my own sake."

I told Theo, and he sighed, finally giving up.

"I am not going to think about any of this. If saving them all is what you want, then it is what you will get. Look, the core is pulsing. It is about to explode. I am going to hurry it along so that this dungeon collapses even quicker."

Theo told me as he snapped his fingers. A sudden surge of energy rose around us before the core pulsed for the last time, and it exploded.

Miasma filled the dungeon as the walls began to collapse.

"W-What is going on—! Theo, what did you do... how did you do—"

I asked as I reached out to grab Theo. I was going to squeeze every answer out of the alpha.

But before my hands could touch him, the alpha disappeared. All I felt was a lingering touch on my head as I watched him take a few steps back.

"Kyle, you were the best thing that ever happened to me. I hope we are able to have our happy ending soon."

Theo told me before he walked toward the explosions. I felt hopeless as I watched him leave. I wanted to stop him, but I felt like I had no way to do that.

So I watched as he disappeared into the mist, and I sat on the ground, wondering what I should do next.
