The Top Omega Hunter Wants a Quiet Life [BL]-Chapter 186: Ch : The Final Dungeon- Part 2
"Soon, you will have a choice to make - just as you did in the past. When that time comes, make sure to think with your brain and not your heart."
The being told me with a serious expression and I felt taken aback. That being continued, almost as if they did not care what I felt at that moment.
"When the time to choose comes, Theo will likely do everything in his power to seduce you and make you side with him. However, just pause at that time and think whether what you are doing is the right thing to do or not."
The being asked and my head swirled even more. The mana was making me dizzy.
That entity noticed this and sighed before he turned around to leave.
"Now, I shall leave the decision up to you. I just wanted to convey this message. The final grand dungeon will open soon and humanity’s future will be decided by it."
The being told me before it slowly faded away. The next time I woke up, I felt lonely.
I missed Theo terribly but now was not the time to be beating myself up. Now was the time to take action.
I quickly got up from the bed, seconds before the alarm sounded. That made me hurry up to check what happened.
"What’s wrong?"
I reached the hall and asked this question. I was not the first person there, but I definitely was one of the only ones who could make a difference out in the field.
Lynn arrived next, followed by everyone else. The scientist who called us there looked sleep-deprived, but she still gestured for us to come closer.
"Take a quick look at this — this is a new dungeon that is going to open up soon. It is so large and dangerous that even we cannot predict what it might hold. At this point, we are looking at the most plausible end for humanity."
The scientist told us with a clear look on her face.
Her words reminded me of the dream I just had and what I had heard in that dream. Was it all truly... going to come true? Was the end truly here as it had been foretold to me?
"A new dungeon? Is it truly that dangerous?"
Lynn asked and the scientist let out a sigh of annoyance and fear.
"It’s worse than dangerous. It has started to swallow other dungeons and soon, it will start to swallow our world as well. If we fail to stop it, then our whole world will be swallowed."
The scientist told us and the decision of what to do next was clear.
"Understood. We shall assemble a team to head out and tackle these monsters."
Lynn made a resolute face and everyone else around me looked equally determined to protect their world. I was the only one who felt like they were wavering when there was no reason to do that.
’Get your mind back on track, Kyle. We have a crisis to deal with. You can deal with Theo and your emotions later.’
I reminded myself as everyone started to prepare for what was to come next.
Despite my inner turmoil, I followed everyone into the pre-deployment chamber. The atmosphere was thick with anxiety, but underneath it all was a sharp edge of determination.
People were checking their weapons, adjusting armor, reinforcing their mana reserves. Every click, every metallic clink, every inhale sounded louder than usual.
It was as if the world itself was holding its breath.
I tried to steady my shaking hands.
This was not the first crisis we had faced. It was not even the worst, objectively speaking. But for some reason, this looming dungeon felt different. It felt final.
Maybe it was because of what I had been told in my dream. Or maybe it was because this time, I felt truly unprepared.
Lynn approached me while loading his gear.
"You seem more tense than usual. Is it the dungeon? Or... something else?"
He commented.
I forced a smile.
"Just... thinking. This one feels dangerous."
"It does. But you’ve dealt with the impossible before. And you’ll do it again. Just believe in yourself."
He admitted, fastening the last lock
on her gauntlet.
I wanted to believe him. Truly, I did. But the words from the dream kept echoing in my mind—choice, seduction, betrayal, the end of everything. I pressed my hand to my chest, feeling my heartbeat race beneath my palm.
The call to gather came soon enough.
We headed toward the central briefing room where the hologram of the dungeon hovered above the table.
Even in its incomplete rendered form, it looked monstrous. A vortex of twisting stone, spiraling darkness, and energy that felt wrong in every sense.
"Teams will deploy in waves. The first wave will focus on reconnaissance and determining the stability of the dungeon’s entrance. Do not engage unless absolutely necessary."
The head coordinator announced.
The plan made sense, but my instincts churned uneasily.
I swallowed hard.
As we moved toward the launch chamber, someone grabbed my shoulder. I turned around to see Edward walking toward me. The current rank #3 had a serious look on his face when he stood in front of me.
"Kyle. Watch yourself in there. Something about this dungeon... makes me feel it will be the last time I see you."
He said quietly.
"Don’t think that. You will make me nervous as well. I will make sure to come back safely."
I assured Edward, but for some reason my blood ran cold.
The countdown began.
Everyone took their places on the teleportation pads. Lynn stood beside me, giving me a reassuring nod. I tried to steady my breathing as the platform lit up beneath our feet.
’Focus, Kyle. One step at a time. Think. Don’t feel.’ 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
The energy rose around us, humming louder and louder.
When the teleport activated and the world dissolved in blinding light, my last coherent thought was a single, sinking realization—
Something was waiting for me on the other side.
