The Tycoon's Gutsy Wife-Chapter 15: Stinky Lina
Once they arrived in the dress section of the mall, Adeline’s eyes caught someone familiar.
It was Lina.
Lina was obviously shopping since she was just pointing to one dress which the salesgirl took off the hanger, while having one of the servants Adeline recognized trail behind her like a puppy.
Adeline decided to ignore her as she didn’t want to cross paths with Lina ever again.
Unfortunately for her, Lina already saw her.
While the store was bustling with customers, Adeline and her friends took their time picking their clothes while Samara checked the price tag on all dresses, making sure she picked the least expensive one that Rinnah could afford to buy.
Unlike her other three friends, Samara wasn’t born in a wealthy family at all. She was just a middle-class girl who ran away from home just so she could study in the city after her mother’s refusal to let her go willingly.
She may be hanging out with rich friends but she never wanted to let them buy expensive things for her even though they could afford it.
Rinnah stared at Samara with a lazy look.
"This black gown suits you perfectly. Take it," she said without leaving any room for an argument.
Samara checked the price tag, and immediately, her hazel eyes nearly popped out of their sockets.
"Five...five...f...five thousand dollars?" She gasped with her hand over her mouth and whispered as if she’d just witnessed a crime. "That’s way too expensive."
Rinnah glanced at Adeline and Daniela and both of them came towards them to try to convince Samara. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
"You know you have a petite body, right?" Daniela asked Samara, wrapping her arms around Samara’s waist, measuring it. "And your waist is so tiny. I’ve seen a lot of celebrities, Samara, and I can assure you that you’ll look like one if you wear that dress to a prom or a party," Daniela teased. "I’ve also told you that you have the body of a model, so anytime you change your mind and decide to become one, you know you can always reach out to me."
But now, Samara was already turning red from blushing so hard.
She was the youngest in the group, being at the age of twenty years old, so the other three teased her all the time.
"I don’t want unwanted attention," she whispered.
Daniel hissed under her breath. "Babe, your body is the type that demands attention so don’t bother hiding it."
Samara was still having a hard time digesting that.
Rinnah took the dress from her hand before she could drop it.
"It’s decided. I’m getting this dress for you," she said, calling for the salesgirl and handing her the dress.
Samara was about to refuse but Adeline pulled her back.
"Just let home get it for you. It’s not every day Rinnah spoils any of us so just let her do it," she whispered.
Together, the girls continued shopping in peace. It’s already been another three days since Darien had knocked Theodore unconscious at the party.
Three days since she last saw him.
Three days since she’d been studying heavily on the Hawthorne family history.
And three more days since Adeline had been thinking of what to say to Ian. He’d been thinking of his father lately, talking about him from time to time during dinner.
This was another moment for her to wind down.
While they were shopping, a dress caught Adeline’s attention.
It was a sapphire dress with crystal diamonds adorned on it.
Blue was her favorite color, so the dress immediately caught her attention. She walked over to it, held the fabric and immediately, she melted into the soft texture.
It was a backless gown yet it was free from the bottom, giving it a royal appearance.
"Do you like this gown ma’am?" One of the salesgirls asked as she came up to her.
"Yes, I like it," said Adeline. "I would like to get it."
"I’m sorry but that won’t be possible, as I’ve already seen this dress first and would like to buy it," Lina said all of a sudden.
She appeared from out of nowhere that Adeline would swear she didn’t even see a bit of her shadow.
The salesgirl wore a perplexed look, also wondering the same thing.
Lina wore a grin on her face, as if prepared to wrestle for the dress.
"Are you sure that you were already here? Or did you spawn right here just to look for troubke?"
Her friends came to her side, all wondering who the lady before them was.
"You can’t possibly be angry at me for what happened, Adeline. It takes two to tango," Lina replied while her grin stretched further and further.
"Who’s she?" Samara asked.
"That’s Lina," Daniela replied. "The mistress who thinks so highly of herself just because she thought she stole a high-value man."
Rinnah’s eyes immediately darkened at Lina but she didn’t say anything.
Lina called the salesgirl who’d been attending to her the entire time and asked. "I touched this dress earlier didn’t I?" She asked the girl sternly.
"Yes ma’am. But you said you didn’t like it earlier—"
"Well now I’ve changed my mind," she said abruptly. "I want this dress. Pack it up for me."
"They’re giving these sluts so much audacity lately," Daniela hissed under her breath.
"What did you just call me?" Lina questioned, obviously offended by that word.
"A slut. That’s what you are," Daniela replied. "Look at yourself, dressing all fancy and wearing strong perfumes but I can still smell your stench. Ugh...the smell is terrible." She pinched her nose together as she waved her hand through the air.
"It’s alright. You can have the dress," Adeline said all of a sudden. Daniela wasn’t pleased with that reply. "But you see, that dress isn’t going to change your background status as the woman who slept with a CEO just to be at the top."
Adeline went and picked another dress, leaving Lina alone to fume in rage.
Agitated, Lina gave her card to the salesgirl to swipe while she glared at Adeline and her friends.
"Sorry ma’am, but your card declined," she heard.
