The Unstoppable Comeback Of the Unrivaled Ex-Wife-Chapter 665
Joanna soon found Taylor’s attending doctor.
"Doctor, may I know where the patient in ward 1206 is? Did she move to another ward?" She remembered Taylor’s ward, which happened to be on the same floor as Quinton’s former ward.
However, both Quinton and Taylor had never got to see each other even if they were only a few dozen meters apart.
The doctor was not surprised by Joanna and Quinton’s visit, and even seemed as if he had been waiting for them.
He adjusted his glasses and told them calmly, "You’re late— Miss Garcia has already been discharged from the hospital." "What? She’s been discharged?" Joanna spluttered, feeling her hope fade.
"Wasn’t her case pretty serious? I heard that she has to be hospitalized for at least three months, and it’s only been around two weeks since then.
Why was she discharged? Can her body take that?" "Well, I couldn’t say anything since it was the patient’s choice. I did try to dissuade her, but she insisted.I can only respect her wishes." "It was her idea?" Joanna’s confusion grew deeper.
"Are you saying that Taylor is awake? Did she recover well? Is she out of danger?" She recalled that Taylor’s case was much more serious than Quinton’s.
When Taylor arrived at the hospital, she was admitted to the ICU and was in a coma.
Even the doctor hadn’t known when she would wake up.
Since Taylor had asked to leave, it meant that her condition was better.
To Joanna, it was good news too.
"Miss Garcia recovered fine, but she would be better if she stayed for treatment.
She has too many injuries, new and old, and the incision on her abdomen is too large.
It’ll be lifelong damage if she doesn’t take good care of it.
If it were up to me, I would’ve never let her leave so soon..." The doctor sighed heavily.
Out of all his patients, Taylor had been the most pitiful.
He couldn’t imagine why a frail woman like her would have so many scars, cuts, scratches, and cigarette burns.
"It’s already a miracle that she survived, but she’s really pushing her luck by leaving the hospital like this," the doctor muttered, looking concerned.
Quinton had been unusually quiet, and he dug his nails into his palms as he choked out, "When did she ask to leave?" "Yesterday, at half past ten in the morning," the doctor replied.
He remembered it because Taylor had insisted on leaving out of the blue.
"Wasn’t that when we left too, Quinton? We left maybe half an hour after that," Joanna said slowly, realizing that it probably wasn’t a coincidence.
It was clear that Taylor had purposely left at that time, and her reason for doing so was quite obvious.
"I might not have seen her, but she saw me that day. That’s why she left..." Quinton hung his head sadly.
Taylor chose to run away without giving him a chance to find her.
When Joanna left the hospital with Quinton, Quinton was still downcast and quiet.
Joanna turned to him and tried to comfort him.
"Quinton, stop overthinking.I’m sure she’s just scared and wants to protect herself; it’s normal."
"Of course it’s normal—she thinks I’m a controlling pervert, so she wants to stay far away from me.I guess I should just be grateful that she doesn’t want to kill me." Quinton looked up at the clouds and smiled bitterly.
"Maybe she’s just biding her time waiting for the perfect opportunity to deliver the final blow." Joanna shook her head.
"Quinton, stop.Let’s just find Taylor and make it clear to her—" "I would happily sink into the ocean with her if it happens again." Quinton interrupted her, his gaze distant.
Joanna was scared by this sudden change in Quinton.
She needed to find Taylor as soon as possible and clear up their misunderstanding, but Taylor had disappeared.
Even the doctor had no idea where she went, so it would be like finding a needle in a haystack.
"Quinton, buck up.We’ll come up with something and find her." Joanna started the car and turned on the GPS. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
"Do you know if Taylor has any friends in the City? Who’s the most likely person she’ll go to?" "She doesn’t know anyone." After a brief pause, Quinton continued calmly, "I killed her entire family, so the only person she knows is me." Joanna was speechless for a moment.
Although she had heard it from Taylor, she still had her doubts... until now.
She didn’t know how to react to his statement.
After enduring something like that, it was only natural that Taylor would want to take revenge on Quinton.
If it had been Joanna in her position, she would have done much worse.
"But Quinton, that’s... very cruel.
Taylor’s family was your foster family.
Why did you kill them for no reason?" Joanna chose her words carefully.
"They deserved it. I killed them to protect Taylor." Quinton didn’t sound the least bit guilty as he spoke calmly.
"Taylor would have died instead if I didn’t do it. No...Taylor would have suffered a fate worse than death if they got her instead." "Can you tell me the details?" Joanna knew that Quinton was not ungrateful or a murderer.
At least, he wouldn’t kill his foster parents even if he hated them.
Something must have happened to force his hand.
"There’s nothing to explain— they deserved to die, and I would do it again if I had to," Quinton said fiercely, clenching his fists as he recalled his painful past.
"Take it easy. I... I’ll stop asking about it.
Calm down." Seeing a glimpse of Quinton’s old self frightened Joanna.
"I should have drowned and died with her back then. As for the other things...
I regret nothing." "Does that include you aborting your baby with her?" Joanna blurted out, unable to stop herself from asking.
"Baby?" Quinton’s gaze turned cold, and he sneered, "That was my last regret. That baby was a sin, and had no right to come into this world, but she foolishly wanted to deliver it... I would never have let her do such a stupid thing."
Quinton’s sudden change scared Joanna. She swallowed nervously, feeling like she was walking on eggshells. "But why?
Since you and Taylor cared so deeply for each other, why didn’t you want a child with her? Why-"
"Shut up!" Quinton shot her a fierce glare. "Stop asking about it! If you really cared about me as a sister, you wouldn’t reopen my wounds just to satisfy your curiosity!" After that, he got out of the car and stormed off.
Speechless, Joanna helplessly watched him leave. She could tell that this was what was troubling Quinton and Taylor.
However, only they knew the real story, and if they refused to talk about it, it would torture them forever as it grew worse.
After dwelling on it, Joanna felt that she could only resolve this issue after locating Taylor. The problem was that Taylor had left without a word, and Joanna didn’t know where to find her... but maybe there was someone she could ask. There was one person Taylor could go to in this city who had the status and resources to hide her.
It had to be Ace, whom she’d unfortunately nearly strangled to death recently.
Joanna didn’t want to have anything to do with him, but she had no other options. He was probably the only person who’d know where Taylor was.
"Ah, I’m just going to have to bite the bullet," Joanna grumbled unhappily. She heard that he was in the hospital, so she bought some fruits and supplements and went there.
When Joanna arrived, Ace was alone in the ward. He was lying on the bed with his eyes closed, an IV drip inserted in his arm, and he looked quite weak.
Joanna cleared her throat awkwardly at the door.
Ace’s eyes opened slowly, and he turned to the doorway. His eyes immediately lit up but he quickly pretended to look aloof as he asked Joanna icily, "What are you doing here? Did you come to see if I’d died? Or are you here to finish the job?
"What are you saying?" Joanna asked sweetly as she shamelessly walked into the ward. "Would I get you supplements if I wanted you dead? I came to see you."
"You came to see if I was dead, right?" Ace coughed twice, his large frame shuddering with the effort. Although he was not as cold and domineering as he usually was, he was still quite distant.
Joanna found it annoying.
"Yeah, that’s right. Since you’re alive, you should take revenge on me. If word gets out that you’re hospitalized because you were strangled by a woman, it’ll be very humiliating," Joanna said mockingly as she pulled a chair out and sat beside his bed.
"How can you say that when I’m so weak? You’re merciless." Although he said so, he didn’t seem overly bothered by it. He pursed his lips and demanded, "I’m hungry. Peel some fruits for me."
Joanna was dumbstruck. ’He doesn’t see me as an outsider at all.’ However, she had to do it since she was going to ask for his help later.
