The Useless Heiress Is Actually A Bigshot-Chapter 181: Appear
Chapter 181 -181: Appear
Zhong Niangyao strolled leisurely on Huanshan Road without looking around. Instead, she kept her head down, playing with her phone as she walked, the epitome of the smartphone generation, completely oblivious to her surroundings.
On this quiet night, she seemed to be the only person walking on the road, making the situation feel particularly eerie.
Suddenly, the temperature around her plummeted. The summer breeze, which should have been warm, took on an unexpected chill. Gradually, it even became bone-piercingly cold.
Yet, Zhong Niangyao appeared entirely unaware, continuing to walk forward. At one point, she ran into an invisible wall, unable to advance any further.
Almost at the same time, a cold, sinister laugh echoed around her. The source of the voice was indiscernible, coming from all directions at once.
Anyone in such a chilling environment, hearing such a terrifying sound, would have been afraid.
But there was not a hint of fear on Zhong Niangyao’s face. She even curved the corners of her mouth slightly, murmuring softly, “Finally showed up, huh!”

She had thought it would take several more visits to draw this Evil Ghost out. She hadn’t expected it to be so impatient and reveal itself so quickly. That was fine by her; it saved her time.
“Now that you’re here, why not show yourself?” Zhong Niangyao put away her phone and addressed the empty surroundings directly, “Otherwise, wouldn’t all your preparations be a waste?”
“Hehehe, you’re quite brave!” With a creepy voice, a thick black fog suddenly appeared, obscuring whatever lay within, though one could vaguely make out a humanoid shape. “However, no matter how brave you are, you won’t leave this place alive today.”
“Is that so?” Zhong Niangyao maintained a calm facade, her tone undisturbed, “Then what do you think brought me here?”
“Oh, you couldn’t possibly have been waiting for me, could you? Cackle, cackle, cackle—”
A figure emanating dark energy, or perhaps more aptly described as a ghost, slowly emerged from the black fog.
Zhong Niangyao could now clearly see the Evil Ghost’s appearance and understood why the driver had been so terrified when he recalled it.
The Evil Ghost indeed looked horrifying, with a face crisscrossed by gashes as if slashed by a knife, flesh turned inside out. Adding to the horror were its nearly all-white eyes, bloody nose, mouth, ears, and of course, that chilling voice.
It was evident that the ghost had died a terrible death. Its current appearance was likely how it looked at the time of its death.
Still, this was not unusual. Those who became Evil Ghosts died horrific deaths, leaving them full of resentment and transforming into what they were now.
To Zhong Niangyao, however, this was not frightening but rather unsightly.
She even spoke with a hint of disdain, “You are quite ugly. Can’t you look a bit more normal? Your appearance is really ruining my appetite!”
Zhong Niangyao’s reaction was nothing like a normal person’s, which even baffled the Evil Ghost momentarily. However, it soon laughed sinisterly again.
“Cackle, cackle, cackle, you really are different from everyone else! But no amount of difference can change your fate. Your soul, though, is quite delicious! If I consume your soul, my wounds will surely heal, and I will become even more powerful.”
From the start, he had noticed that this girl’s soul was different from all the others, evoking an intense craving within him.
So even though he knew there was something off about tonight’s situation, he still showed up. He was confident in his own strength and, in his domain, he was unbeatable.
Previously, some foolhardy Heavenly Masters had tried to subdue him but ended up as his prey.
“Heh, you want my soul?” Zhong Niangyao’s lips curved into a scornful smile, “I just wonder if you have the ability to take it.”
The Evil Ghost let out a few more cackles, then transformed into a black fog again, charging straight at Zhong Niangyao.
She swiftly dodged and took out a piece of talisman paper from her bag, throwing it directly at the black fog.
Upon contact with the fog, the talisman paper burst into flames.
“Ah ah ah—”
A shrill scream pierced the heavens, buzzing in people’s ears, causing an intense headache to anyone who heard it.
Even Han Xin and Luo Yong, who were hiding some distance away, could clearly hear the sharp scream and quickly covered their ears.
In just a moment, the dark mist dissipated, and when the Evil Ghost reappeared in front of Zhong Niangyao, it looked the same as before, except its eyes had turned blood-red, as if weeping blood.
“Was it you—” Its voice, filled with a mix of terror and wariness, “The talismans on that man before. Did you give them to him?”
That had been its only time failing and it had even been injured as a result.
It had never expected such a young girl to possess such capabilities.
“Yes, it was me!” Zhong Niangyao nodded her head, “So, tonight, you’re destined to fall right here.”
“What a joke!”
The Evil Ghost underwent a transformation again; the bloody traces on its features began to fade, and the horrific scars on its face disappeared, revealing its true visage.
Upon seeing the Evil Ghost’s appearance from its life before, Zhong Niangyao couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow.
She hadn’t expected the Evil Ghost to have been quite good-looking in life, with handsome features — though not quite a modern heartthrob, he could certainly pass for a cute, pretty boy.
However, the malevolence in those bloodshot eyes and the sinister curve of his mouth gave his handsome face an added touch of terror.
“Little girl, you hurt me once before, and now you’ve done it again. Do you really think I’d let you go so easily?” The murderous intent was palpable in the Evil Ghost’s red eyes, “For injuring me twice, your soul will serve as compensation!”
“But, considering how tempting your soul is, I’ll leave you a whole corpse today and spare you a painful death!”
“We’ll see if you have the ability to do that,” Zhong Niangyao coldly retorted, “Besides, I’m quite curious to find out whether today it’ll be you devouring me, or me extinguishing you.”
“Foolish girl!”
With that, the Evil Ghost lunged at Zhong Niangyao, attacking her once more.
