The Villain Mom Awakens — Going Viral by Parenting on a Reality Show-Chapter 126: Naomi Kenway, What Did You Do to My Son?
"I didn’t!" Jared Woods yelled, but his voice lacked conviction.
"I’ve been watching you for a while now. You’ve been sneaking strawberries!" Carina Sanders said angrily.
"Grandpa Warren said we could eat whatever we want, so I wasn’t sneaking them! Didn’t you just eat a strawberry, too?" Jared Woods retorted defensively.
"But you haven’t finished your task, and you’ve been eating this whole time! I only had one!" Carina Sanders was clearly fuming at Jared Woods, her voice trembling slightly.
Naomi Kenway patted Carina’s back, then said breezily to Jared Woods, "If you don’t finish your task, you won’t get any dinner."
The next second, Jared Woods sat up with a pained expression. "I’ll pick them, I’ll pick them..."
After about two hours, the task of picking produce was successfully completed. Before they left, Uncle Warren gave Naomi Kenway a generous amount of vegetables.
Back at the house, the children continued to play in the yard while Naomi Kenway went to the kitchen to prepare dinner.
Sometime earlier, she had been scrolling online and came across a viral dish called "Pigs Tucked in a Blanket." As it happened, a friendly neighbor had brought over some pork ribs that afternoon.
She shaped the dough in her hands into delicate little pigs. The amount of flour was limited, so Naomi Kenway could only make five small pigs before spreading the rest of the rolled-out dough over the dish.
Naomi Kenway kept an eye on the time. When the pot was bubbling, she poked the contents with a spoon to test them. The pork ribs were cooked through, and the green beans and potatoes had been stewed until they were perfectly tender.
The little dough pigs puffed up, becoming white and plump, and Naomi Kenway smiled in satisfaction. She had been eager to try this dish ever since she saw countless moms online posting about making it for their children. ’I wonder if Ian will like it...’
It might be a little dry with just rice, so Naomi Kenway cooked some congee to go with it.
[Isn’t that the viral "Pigs Tucked in a Blanket" dish? Nina is a true internet connoisseur!]
[That looks so good I can practically smell it through the screen! Mommy, I’m your long-lost child! Quick, give me a bite, stuff my face!]
[*Sob* I won’t say who’s drooling over this livestream, but it’s me. I’m telling my mom to make this for me right now. This twenty-something-year-old baby wants some "Pigs Tucked in a Blanket" too.]
...
When dinner was served, all the children were captivated by the novel dish.
"Soooo yummy..." Jared Woods immediately picked up a pork rib, popped it into his mouth, and praised her endlessly. "Aunt Kenway, you’re as amazing as Ultraman!!"
Naomi Kenway was slightly surprised. She knew that in many children’s worlds, Ultraman was the ultimate hero, a beacon of light. And Jared Woods had given her such high praise over a single meal.
Ian picked up his little dough pig and placed it in Naomi Kenway’s bowl. "Mommy doesn’t have a piggy. This is for Mommy."
"Mommy doesn’t want it. You have it, Ian," Naomi Kenway said, placing it back in his bowl.
"You’re lying!" Ian put down his chopsticks and said in a huff, "If Mommy doesn’t eat, then Ian won’t eat either!"
Naomi Kenway had no choice but to break the "little pig" in half. "How about we share it?"
Ian nodded. "Okay~"
Jared Woods had already eaten two sizable steamed buns, but he held out his bowl for more.
Naomi Kenway refused him. "No. If you eat too much at night, it’s hard to digest. We can have more tomorrow."
Jared Woods’s eyes started to turn red. He clasped his hands together, pleading, "Please..."
"No. You can have more tomorrow," Naomi Kenway said, getting up to clear the table.
Aside from delicious food, there are very few things that can move a true foodie to tears.
Jared Woods clutched his bowl, refusing to let go, and began to wail, "I want more, I want to eat more..."
[Why is Jared Woods crying all the time? The other kids are so much more well-behaved.]
[The little foodie is crying his eyes out. But Jared has eaten a lot already, he really shouldn’t have any more.]
[Why is he always crying, crying, crying? If nothing else works, just give him a spanking, right? Naomi Kenway is just too soft. If it were me, I would’ve disciplined him long ago. You can’t spoil kids like that!]
[Easy for the commenter above to say. If Naomi Kenway actually laid a hand on him, Chelsea Raines would probably fight her to the death, right? Besides, corporal punishment isn’t the answer. It’s better to try and reason with the child first!]
...
The first thing Chelsea Raines saw when she pushed open the door was Jared Woods howling. She rushed forward, sweeping him into her arms, her heart aching unbearably.
"Naomi Kenway, what did you do to my son?!"
’I toiled away fishing all day, only to come back and see my son being abused. I thought with the cameras here, Naomi Kenway wouldn’t dare go too far, but who knew she’d be so shameless...?’
Renee Jennings walked up from behind them, covering her mouth in a shocked expression.
"Jared, quick, let Mommy see where you’re hurt. Does it hurt, son?! Mommy was wrong. I never should have left you here alone to suffer..." As Chelsea Raines spoke, tears started streaming down her face.
Jared Woods wiped his runny nose and cried, "I want to eat, I still want to eat... *hic*..."
Chelsea Raines shot a furious glare at Naomi Kenway. "You! Naomi Kenway! You wouldn’t even feed my son! What a vicious heart you have! Did you starve him all day?!"
Renee Jennings didn’t step forward, content to watch the drama unfold.
A vein throbbed on Naomi Kenway’s forehead. She put down the dishes she was holding and sneered. "I didn’t realize you had such a wild imagination. Who told you I didn’t feed Jared Woods?"
"My son is crying from hunger! What more is there to argue about?!"
Naomi Kenway exhaled. "Jared Woods already ate two steamed buns. It’s not good to eat too much at night, it’s hard to digest. I didn’t expect him to cry this hard over it."
"Do you hear yourself? Does that not sound ridiculous?"
Simon Sawyer spoke up. "Aunt Raines, it’s just like Aunt Kenway said. She didn’t bully Jared Woods."
Carina Sanders nodded as well. "Aunt Raines, Aunt Kenway is telling the truth."
"I see you’re all in this together, ganging up on my son!" Fire practically shot from Chelsea Raines’s eyes. Jared Woods was simply too important to her. She took a few steps forward, rolling up her sleeves. "It’s one thing for you to bully me all the time, but now you’re bullying my son, too?! You’ve gone too far!"
New grievances piled on top of old resentments. Chelsea Raines, who had long despised Naomi Kenway, felt a storm of fury brewing inside her.
Sensing the danger, Ian Shaw stepped in front of Naomi Kenway and shouted, "Don’t you bully my mommy! Don’t you bully my mommy!!"
Chelsea Raines sneered. "Get out of the way! What’s a little brat like you doing, getting in my way?"
"I’m little now, but if you bully my mommy, I’ll never let you off the hook when I grow up!" Ian Shaw said, enunciating every word. Despite his disadvantage in height, he stared at Chelsea Raines without a shred of fear, like a little wolf cub baring its sharp fangs to desperately protect the most important person in his life.
"I mean it! If you bully my mommy, I will never forgive you!"
A tremor went through Naomi Kenway’s heart.
For some reason, a chill ran down Chelsea Raines’s spine. She reached out to push Ian Shaw aside, but Naomi Kenway grabbed her arm first.
"Abuse your son in front of all these people? Chelsea Raines, can you please use your brain?"
