The Villain Mom Awakens — Going Viral by Parenting on a Reality Show-Chapter 134: PUA
Naomi Kenway closed in, the sharp glint and malice in her eyes barely contained. Her beautiful eyes held nothing but naked disgust:
"When we were little, you snatched my favorite doll and cut it to pieces. You made me take the fall for you countless times. Once we grew up, you stole my performance opportunities and even my boyfriend..."
Watching Jeanette Kensington’s expression falter, Naomi Kenway chuckled and tilted her head with amusement. "And that’s not even the half of it..." Her tone shifted, turning ice-cold. "So, how dare you say any of that with a straight face?"
Jeanette Kensington blinked, looking at Naomi Kenway. "Nicole, has someone been a bad influence on you? You were always rebellious, but you’ve never spoken to me like this before..."
"Yeah. My only regret is that it took me over twenty years to finally be able to tell you off like this."
Jeanette Kensington’s expression soured. Naomi Kenway had always been willful and rebellious—a lawless personality—but in truth, she was easy to manipulate. Now, however, Naomi was covered in more and more sharp thorns, and they drew blood when they pricked you.
"There must be some misunderstanding between us," Jeanette Kensington insisted, hesitating as if she wanted to say more. "Nicole, I was watching you dance all day, and I feel like..."
Jeanette Kensington put on a troubled expression. "I feel like your dancing is a bit... lacking. Dancing just doesn’t suit you. I really don’t want you to be ridiculed by netizens. You should probably dance less from now on."
"But everyone else has been telling me I’m a great dancer."
"They don’t mean it. They’re just saying encouraging things because they want to see you make a fool of yourself. Besides, have you forgotten? Dad also said your dancing was..."
She didn’t finish the sentence, but her meaning was perfectly clear.
Naomi Kenway found it laughable. Jeanette Kensington was actually pretending this was all for her own good. ’How can one person be so vicious?’
A wave of sorrow washed over her. Such crude, vicious tactics... and yet, as a child, she had been psychologically manipulated by Jeanette Kensington for nearly ten years.
After her mother was gone, she had been at a willful age, but her heart was also incredibly sensitive. Jeanette had used a mix of coaxing and coercion to indirectly control her.
"I think I dance just fine. I’m a professional artist, after all. Maybe you should take some time to work on your own sense of taste," Naomi Kenway said with a cold smile. "I don’t care whether you people like it or not. I like it, and that’s all that matters. If you don’t want to watch, cover your eyes. Oh, wait—gouging them out would probably be a more permanent solution."
Jeanette Kensington froze. She had never imagined such sharp, logical words coming from Naomi Kenway.
"Nicole, I..."
"Instead of worrying about other people, you should worry about yourself. Hasn’t that scandal about you bullying your group members died down yet?"
"Where did you hear that?" Jeanette Kensington’s expression turned cold. "You can’t just believe baseless rumors like that."
"You know perfectly well whether it’s true or not," Naomi Kenway said coldly. "Now move. Don’t make me repeat myself."
In the end, Jeanette Kensington stepped aside.
The village feast was quickly arranged. The guests changed their clothes and began to perform.
Naomi Kenway took the center position and began to dance freely to the music, completely unaffected by Jeanette Kensington’s words.
Her movements were fluid, hitting every beat perfectly and radiating a sense of burgeoning power and vitality.
[Naomi Kenway has improved so much! She’s a natural-born talent.]
[LMAO, having a pretty face really is a huge advantage. I could watch Naomi Kenway just stand there and still be entertained.]
[All the guests are doing a great job! They look pretty synchronized. It’s really nice to watch.]
[Director Ruby Preston’s expression looks a little pained, hahaha. Director Preston was forced to dance, and she looks so reluctant.]
...
Watching from the back, the director said to Jeanette, "Jeanette, great work. I think the guests all danced well, especially Nicole. She’s improved so much."
Jeanette Kensington looked away. After a moment, a smile tugged at the corner of her lips. "Yes, she really has improved a lot."
The performance ended to a wave of applause and cheers from the audience.
The guests left the stage together.
"Mommy, you were amazing!" Ian Shaw ran over, his small, soft body throwing itself into Naomi Kenway’s arms. He placed a freshly picked wildflower in her hand. "Flower."
"Thank you, Ian," Naomi Kenway said with a smile, taking the flower and ruffling his hair.
Naomi Kenway led Ian to a table that was already laden with all sorts of delicacies. Most of it was seafood, including many exotic types that Naomi had never seen before.
Their spot was perfect. Looking up, they had a clear view of the villagers’ performances. Some were beating gongs, others were dancing. The whole scene was incredibly lively.
By now, all the guests were seated, their eyes mostly fixed on the stage.
The village chief came over, his face beaming with a warm smile. "Thank you all for that wonderful performance! We hope you’ll all come back to visit Warren Isle. We have lots of delicious food here..." He began introducing the dishes on the table, many of which were local specialties.
"These are all unique to Warren Isle. You won’t find this taste anywhere else!" the village chief said with a hearty laugh.
The guests thanked him as they sampled the food. The village chief had to arrange the next part of the show backstage, so he excused himself and left, after which the guests started chatting among themselves.
Jeanette Kensington was a newly-arrived guest, so much of the conversation centered around her.
Margaret Jennings asked, "You were based abroad before, right? Are you adjusting well to being back? The industry here seems a bit different from how it is in Hansea."
Jeanette Kensington nodded with a small smile. "It is a bit different, but there’s huge potential for growth here. I’m really looking forward to what comes next."
"So you’re planning to focus on your career here long-term?"
Jeanette Kensington nodded. "Yes, but my boyfriend’s art gallery business is almost entirely overseas. He’s considering moving it here, so I might have to travel back and forth for a while. It’ll be a bit busy."
Margaret Jennings was impressed. It was daring for a popular idol like Jeanette Kensington to go public with her relationship. Of course, it helped that her boyfriend wasn’t a celebrity, which made fans more accepting. On top of that, Jeanette’s management team had also handled the marketing very well.
"Announcing your relationship at the peak of your popularity... even now, I still think that was incredibly brave," said Margaret Jennings.
At the mention of her boyfriend, a shy blush crept onto Jeanette Kensington’s face. "He’s so good to me, and I don’t want to let him down. When I was about to go to Hansea to become a trainee, he quit his job here without a second thought to go abroad with me. He’s a very thoughtful person, always looking out for my feelings in everyday life..."
As Jeanette Kensington told her story, the live stream chat was flooded with comments from fans "shipping" the couple.
Chelsea Raines asked, "Have you two thought about when you might get married?"
Jeanette Kensington’s face was a picture of blissful happiness, but her eyes drifted toward Naomi Kenway. "I think it’ll be soon. I’m just waiting for the day he officially proposes."
Naomi Kenway had long since tuned out the surrounding chatter, her attention focused solely on holding Ian and watching the performance on stage.
A soft little bundle, Ian was nestled in Naomi Kenway’s arms, letting out occasional gasps of wonder. His big, bright eyes were filled with curiosity.
Naomi Kenway felt her heart melt at his cuteness, her smile blooming like a flower.
Jeanette Kensington watched them, her expression slowly turning cold.
