Chapter 83: Tame Her

Harvey watched as Kael left his office, glancing at the second letter that Kael had just written before him and asked to be delivered along with the first one.

On his part, Harvey had insisted that Kael enjoy the city a bit more, but the latter had refused, as he had to return to the academy on time.

The meeting had been nerve-racking for Harvey... even more than his first interview.

When the staff had informed him of some high-level personnel of the bank visiting the branch, Harvey had thought that it might have been one of the higher-ups from the main branches in the capital city.

But when he entered the card into the server... his eyes bulged out.

This guy... Kael—even while having the clearance level of a manager, Harvey couldn’t access a single thing about him except that he was some big shot of the bank and Syma in general.

Harvey had worked for the bank since its establishment a few months ago.

In a single phase, the bank had expanded its operations across the world, with the best infrastructure available.

Even if someone had the money, no one could doubt the insane capabilities and determination of the people who worked for Syma.

Harvey and many like him, who had been recruited after the bank was opened, were the core personnel of the bank.

But all of them knew that they were nothing compared to the real core members of Syma.

None of them had seen those members, but everyone knew about them.

They were the top authorities in the alchemy guild as well as in the bank.

Every decision would be reviewed by them before being executed. These individuals were the ones who were responsible for the rapid expansion of Syma across the world.

It was as if all of them were a family... because the dedication that those individuals at the top had wasn’t something that could be bought with money.

There had been many mysteries about the bank and its executives for people like Harvey, but they knew the principles of the business.

Never question your boss!

And that was why Harvey was even more shocked to find a kid who wasn’t even in his twenties... being one of the top members of this new legacy that had been built across the span of a mere two years.

Were the Frosts the main backers behind Syma?

Harvey had many questions, but he chose to do his work instead of poking his nose into matters above his level.

There were things in the world that were best left untouched.

***

I had to end the meeting on a short note...

The academy had strict rules about attendance, and I didn’t want to test the limits of their patience.

The Headmaster had allowed me a leave of two days, and I had to return before the deadline.

Though I had come here to convey some instructions to Julien, another issue had come to my notice.

Syma wouldn’t be able to expand further without properly eliminating its rivals.

At first, I had the thought of letting the guild develop on its own, but that might have been naive thinking on my part.

All the rivals that Syma had made over the past two years were big players who had established their presence in the world for hundreds of years.

A new guild couldn’t really compete with their contacts and connections.

But I had thought of the perfect solution. No matter how big the problem was, if the roots were destroyed... could the tree survive?

I had given the required instructions on this matter to Julien in the second letter.

Haa...

This city really had its own charm.

I had reached Namda after travelling in haste. The intense journey had disturbed my sleep schedule yet again.

My eyes now had faint dark circles underneath. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺

They weren’t visible to the normal eye, but I didn’t like my face to appear ugly.

I had to sleep.

As I entered through the gates of the academy, I was greeted by the same old atmosphere.

Hm?

I could see John walking along with...

Amelia?!

When did they become friends?

Thinking about Amelia, I couldn’t help but remember all those questions that she had repeatedly asked me.

As for me, I hadn’t answered a single one of them.

Amelia was useful, but at the same time, she was a dangerous variable.

In the game, her part had been limited, but wherever she appeared... a big event would spawn itself.

In the future, Amelia would go on to become one of the greatest scientists history had ever witnessed.

She was the one who had played a major part in developing the cure for mana poisoning.

But her princess heart had been generous enough to make the cure affordable for the masses.

Though that had saved several people from death’s door... personally, I think it was a foolish choice.

If she had been a little more tactical in her decisions, she could have used all of her discoveries to cement her role as a capable heir to House Dracoth.

But this girl...

She had sacrificed all power and status in her life... only to get forgotten in the background.

I, as a gentleman, would surely make good use of her capabilities.

The reason behind not answering her questions was to keep her interest in me alive for a longer time.

Amelia had talent. I just needed to tame her in order to bring out her full potential.

"Oh, is that Kael?"

John seemed to have noticed my presence.

"Huh? Where?"

Amelia turned around to search for me.

I increased my speed to avoid meeting them.

"Kael, hey! Where have you been? There’s this theory—"

Amelia’s shouts were lost in the background as I ignored her and moved toward my room.

Nerds like her tend to forget people once the individual has fulfilled his role.

So I had to make her want me...

More and more!

Hm?

Why did that sound weird...
