The Villainess Wants a Divorce:Beast Husbands Regret It to Tears-Chapter 139: Fading Away Bit by Bit
She hasn’t forgotten a single thing he did today.
Seeing her silence, the smile on Kaelan Hawthorne’s face gradually faded.
He slowly withdrew his hand, moving his fingertip away from her forehead.
Then he lifted his hand and gently touched the scar on his face.
"Is it because of this?"
"Do you think I’m ugly, so you’re avoiding me?"
Seraphina Caldwell’s heart suddenly wrenched.
She jerked her head up, meeting his gaze.
The original owner, with a single merciless strike, had slashed across his face, tearing apart his once-proud visage.
What he hated wasn’t just the binding and loss of freedom.
What he couldn’t let go was the face that had once been unparalleled, now unable to be restored.
Every scar was like a brand etched into his flesh and his heart.
This hatred had never truly disappeared.
In the past, other beast husbands were always around monitoring him, forcing him to bow his head and act obedient.
But now, they’re all gone.
He no longer needs to pretend.
Seraphina Caldwell had long become accustomed to the hideous scar on his face.
The Spiritual Spring Water could have healed it, but she never used it.
"Kaelan, you brought me to the Beast Realm; I owe you a favor. From tomorrow on, I’ll give you a drop of my blood every day, until the master-servant contract is completely broken. I won’t regret it."
Kaelan Hawthorne squinted, locking his gaze firmly on her face.
Seraphina Caldwell didn’t respond or offer any explanation.
She simply raised her hand and took off the silver necklace from her neck.
Then, she slid the tip of the necklace across her fingertip.
A drop of crimson blood slowly seeped from the wound.
She leaned forward, extending her arm and suspending the blood-stained fingertip directly above the dark red Beast Seal on his chest.
As the blood droplet fell, the Beast Seal, originally as deep red as blood, visibly began to fade.
"Today’s session is over. I’ll come again tomorrow."
Kaelan Hawthorne continued to stare at her hand.
Seraphina Caldwell paused, then softly added.
"If you still don’t believe me, I can swear to The Beast God right now. If I delay even a day, may I die a horrible death, and never find peace."
"There’s no need."
He suddenly spoke.
Kaelan Hawthorne lowered his eyelids, no longer looking at her, but at the fading Beast Seal on his chest.
That mark was the irrefutable proof of the relationship between him and her.
But now, it’s slowly disappearing.
Seraphina Caldwell’s decisiveness wasn’t just bravado.
She sincerely wanted to sever the bond completely, leaving no ties behind.
Seraphina Caldwell didn’t say another word.
It’s not that she doesn’t want to break the contract.
Every time she tries to completely end it, various things crop up to obstruct her, preventing her from achieving her wish.
Each one is more stubborn than the last, unwilling to give in.
But Kaelan Hawthorne and Evan Orwell...
They genuinely want to leave.
So why do they have to choose the moment when she’s at her most helpless, using that kind of attitude?
Couldn’t they just say it directly?
She wasn’t stopping them.
If that day in the forest she hadn’t been able to turn the tables on that wild boar, would she have truly died there?
Even her bones would be crushed and eaten clean.
And would they not even bother to look for her?
Perhaps, the kindness from the other beast husbands was only due to their mating season.
But once the thrill passes, and reason returns, will they end up like Kaelan Hawthorne too?
No one knows.
Drowsiness silently engulfed her consciousness.
She had been struggling for an entire day, her energy already depleted, her spirit on the brink of collapse.
The wound still throbbed faintly, but her body couldn’t withstand it anymore.
Kaelan Hawthorne, however, didn’t close his eyes.
He leaned back against the rock wall inside the tree hole, arms crossed over his chest, his gaze never leaving Seraphina Caldwell’s face.
Kaelan Hawthorne knew very well.
Seraphina Caldwell’s gaze now looked at him differently than before.
Once, when she looked at him, though it wasn’t intimately, she never avoided him.
But now?
Even when facing away, she was cautious.
Why has she changed suddenly?
Why last night did she voluntarily cut her own finger?
He touched the glowing Beast Seal on his chest.
A strange feeling welled up inside him.
The next day, even before Seraphina Caldwell’s eyes opened, her nose was awake first.
The aroma of roasted meat invaded her mind.
Seraphina Caldwell propped herself up and slowly peered over the edge of the tree hole, glancing down.
She had been so dizzy when she first hid inside that she hadn’t noticed the height.
Now, with the morning light and her head clear, the sight made her heart tighten.
A good four meters high, equivalent to two floors.
Kaelan Hawthorne quietly squatted by the fire, holding a long branch steadily with both hands.
At that moment, he raised his head, his gaze meeting Seraphina Caldwell’s.
Seraphina Caldwell was mid-air, gripping the edge of the opening with one hand, her head halfway out.
Kaelan Hawthorne’s eyebrow arched slightly.
"Want to come down to eat? Or should I bring it up to you?"
Seraphina Caldwell pressed her lips together, didn’t immediately respond, but withdrew her head quietly and retreated back inside the tree hole.
She began searching in the cramped space.
Suddenly, from the corner of her eye, she noticed that familiar Beast Skin Rope lying in the corner.
She went over immediately, bending down to pick up the rope.
Seraphina Caldwell tied one end securely to a thick tree branch inside the hole, then tugged on it twice to check.
Then she grabbed the other end and began to descend, inching down the rope.
Just halfway down, a sharp "crack!" sounded from above!
Her heart jumped violently, and before she could react, the support beneath her feet vanished abruptly.
Apparently, the dead branch couldn’t hold the constant stress and snapped!
She plummeted weightlessly.
Seraphina Caldwell squeezed her eyes shut.
This is it...
No doubt she’d break a bone, possibly pass out.
But then she forced herself to calm down.
Forget it, she still has the Spiritual Spring Water.
Worst case, sneak a sip later.
Her life should still be saved...
The next second, her body fell steadily into a pair of arms.
An arm tightly encircled her waist, catching her mid-air.
Seraphina Caldwell suddenly opened her eyes.
Kaelan Hawthorne looked down at her, his brow slightly furrowed.
"Thank you."
Seraphina Caldwell recovered first, her cheeks warming slightly, and quickly thanked him softly.
Finally, her feet touched the ground, and she quietly sighed in relief.
Thank goodness...
Thank goodness she didn’t really fall and hurt herself.
Otherwise, she’d have wasted precious Spiritual Spring Water.
Right now, she couldn’t just use it casually.
Kaelan Hawthorne still didn’t speak, silently withdrawing his hand, and walked back to the fire to keep flipping the meat on the branch.
Seraphina Caldwell stood there, rubbing her arms sore from gripping the rope too tightly.
Her gaze wandered to the small river not far away.
She really wanted to wash her face.
But the complex terrain by the riverbank and the dense vegetation made her shiver.
Going alone was just too risky.
After hesitating for a while, she finally mustered the courage to move slowly to Kaelan Hawthorne’s side.
"Kaelan, I’d like to wash up... can you accompany me or help fetch some water back? I... I’ll give you a drop of blood."
