The Villain's Apocalypse-Chapter 30: Trial I
Chapter 30: Trial I
yawn~
"That was probably my best sleep since arriving here." A lazy voice resounded within a massive hall filled with greenery and vitality. The voice owner was a handsome young man with rich golden-blonde hair and sun-like eyes, that shimmered with boundless excitement.
He slowly rose from the ground, and started stretching his muscles, awaking them from the usual numbness that came after a relaxing sleep.
crack–!
"Ahh...it seems my muscles were quite sore." A series of cracking echoed, relieving the built-up tension within them. Cracking up the muscles always felt satisfying, especially after a long day of intense workout or a beautiful sleep.
He performed some light exercises, warming up his muscles for the upcoming battle. "Where is she?"
His question was immediately answered as a tiny fairy-like creature popped out right before his eyes, hovering silently like a mosquito. She eyed him from top to bottom before nodding her head in satisfaction. "Now you look more like a challenger."
"Do I?" Cassian raised his brows, a sweet smile gracing his lips. This was the most energetic he felt after entering this hell of a dungeon.
"Are you ready?" She asked, ignoring his taunting smile. Her mind was already wandering around thinking about the previous plan that she had devised to teach him a lesson. ’Laugh all you want for now.’ Her lips slowly raised up into a smirk, confusing Cassian.
"Why are you smiling? Don’t tell me you got enchanted by my looks too!" He hurriedly shook his hand and continued, "I’m not into little girls, especially girls like you."
Hmph–!
"Dream on, stinky human." She scoffed, unbothered to answer his question. Unbeknownst to him, an elaborate trap was being set up, ready to catch the rat from its hideout.
"Are you ready?" she asked again, this time slightly raising her voice. It seems this weak human was hellbent on pissing her off before leaving.
"Yes. Do your magic and start the trial." He replied, with a fire burning within his eyes. The time had finally come, to claim the first piece of treasure for himself. His path to the strongest would start from here and he was ready to give his all. Either he shall become the strongest, or die trying it!
Death?— he wasn’t scared of it. It’s inevitable anyway, unless you’ve the powers to stand your ground against it.
"Let the trial commence!" Ara announced loudly, causing an intense reaction within the massive hall. The wind fluttered wildly, swaying the vines, hanging atop the roof.
Ding–!
Loud bell chimes reverberated throughout the hall, welcoming the grand occasion. Amy lifted her hands high and chanted some incomprehensible verses, leaving Cassian to stare at her curiously.
Her voice grew louder each passing second, until it resonated with the entire room.
"The door to the grave has been opened, Oh Heavens, bless this trial with your divine judgment."
Memoir Requiem–!
A golden magic circle formed beneath Cassian’s feet, radiating an overwhelming presence. The once serene atmosphere of the hall shifted, replaced by an eerie, foreboding energy.
Cassian narrowed his eyes as the ground trembled. The vines hanging from the ceiling slithered like awakened serpents, retracting into the walls to reveal ancient carvings glowing with mystical symbols.
Boom—!
The earth cracked, and an abyssal hole materialized beneath him, its surface crawling with chaotic mana waves. The temperature dropped as an ominous aura leaked from beyond the hole.
Then, without warning—
Whoosh!
A powerful force sucked him inside, and the trial began.
Ara fluttered to his side, her mischievous smirk deepening. "Welcome to your trial, stinky human. From here on, your strength alone will determine your fate."
—
"Where...am...I?"
His vision blurred, movement became sluggish and everything around him felt heavy. He heard some fainting murmuring and shouting in the background but, his main focus now was to stabilize his mind first.
He ran his arms around his body, searching for anything that could help him. Luckily, a bottle was attached to the back-pocket of his trousers, filled with water?
"Is this water?" He picked it up and brought it near his nose, trying to smell the inside contents.
"It is water. Probably." Not finding any suspicious smell from the bottle, he placed it near his lips and gulped it down, emptying it in one go. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
puah~
"Finally." His vision gained some clarity and the mind fog slowly cleared up, allowing him to gain some basic awareness of his surroundings.
"Hmm? What’s this?" He thought, picking up an unknown object from the ground. The object looked like a burned-up hand, with an intense burning smell still being leaked out from it.
"OH FUCK, IT IS A HAND!!" He dropped that thing down and hurriedly gazed around, finding himself on a chaotic battleground.
tink–!
"RARHHHH!!!!"
"ATTACK!!"
"KILL THEM!!"
"KILL THOSE VRAHAN MOTHERFUCKERS–!"
Erratic shouting of soldiers could be heard, echoing throughout the battlefield, drenched with crimson blood and corpses of the dead everywhere. The ground had been painted red from the overflow of blood, an utterly terrifying sight to behold.
The soldiers were clashing their weapons—swords, spears, bows, every weapon in sight was being used with a single intent behind them–KILL!
The nauseating stench of burned skin and blood was spreading everywhere, enough to faint a normal person, but the soldiers were unfazed. Their eyes were locked into their enemies as they beheaded them with their tightly clenched swords.
"Battle of...Vrahan..." Cassian mumbled absentmindedly, staring at the horrifying scene before him. They were the soldiers of the Vrahan Kingdom and the Zherath Kingdom, fighting for their land.
"Impossible...This was supposed to be the last illusion." He mumbled, his voice etched with shock and despair. "Did that petty fairy fucked me up?!"
"ARGHH!! KILL!!"
Suddenly, a soldier wearing a lion-shaped logo attached on their armor jumped down and rushed toward Cassian, his eyes overflowing with killing intent.
His metal sword gleaming with the silver light, flashed across Cassian’s sight and swiftly reached his neck.
ting–!
Metals clashed against each other, causing sparks to light up. He had instinctively raised his sword and deflected the incoming attack with absolute swiftness.
"DIE!!"
The soldier roared, charging forward with his sword, clenched tightly in his hands. He had only taken a few steps when suddenly his vision turned upside down.
"Ah?"
That was his last thought as his head left his body. It flung up and landed a few meters away from the body.
