Chapter 48: Amelia

"Brother! Brother! Where are you?!" The cheerful voice of a young girl echoed joyfully through the grand halls of the Palace, filled with excitement and impatience.

The voice belonged to a child no older than twelve, her beautiful face framed by soft, puffy cheeks and silvery-golden hair that cascaded down her back. Her golden eyes shone brightly, sparkling with an innocence that seemed to light up the room. She wore a beautiful gown, golden-striped and flowing, that clung delicately to her small frame. The noble elegance of her attire was perfectly matched by her pure, untainted aura—one that drew the gaze of anyone who happened to cross her path.

Her lips curled into a sweet smile—one of pure joy and excitement— as she continued her search, her voice ringing out once more, "Brother!"

She wandered deeper into the Palace, her tiny feet making soft echoes against the marble floors. The immense hallways stretched endlessly before her, adorned with towering columns and intricate tapestries that whispered of the family’s ancient history. It was a place both imposing and beautiful, but to Amelia, it was simply home. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶

Though the grandeur of the Palace might overwhelm others, it seemed only to fuel Amelia’s energy, her childish curiosity tugging her in every direction. She didn’t mind the towering walls or the distance between rooms; they were just obstacles to overcome on her quest to find her brother.

"Brother!" she called again, her voice tinged with a hint of impatience as she quickened her pace. "It’s storytime! You promised me you would continue where we left off before!"

The sound of her voice rippled through the stone corridors, a sweet and melodic cry that caught the attention of passing servants and guards. They offered knowing smiles, their eyes lighting up as they watched the young princess bounce through the halls with such pure joy.

With a playful huff, Amelia paused for a moment, her head tilting as she thought. She knew her brother’s habits well. Prince Cassian was often wandering through either the silent library, in search of some knowledge or the serene flower garden, clearing up his frustrated mind.

A lightbulb went off in her mind, and without hesitation, she turned on her heel, her dress fluttering behind her as she dashed down a side hallway. Lyra’s infectious smile only widened. Her brother, despite his often serious nature, could never resist her enthusiasm for long.

She swiftly reached the massive library behind the palace’s wall and entered inside, her steps the only thing echoing within the library’s silent environment.

"Good Morning, Mr Librarian! Is my Brother here?" She inquired, turning toward an old man, seated politely near the library’s office. He had long white hair, a thin white beard and a scholarly aura surrounding him.

"Greetings, Princess Amelia." He bowed lightly, greeting her with a kind smile on his aged face. Hearing her question, he briefly closed his eyes and opened again. Gazing at her enthusiastic face, he lightly shook his head and replied, "I’m sorry to inform you but His Highness is not here, Princess."

Amelia’s enthusiasm visibly diminished after hearing his response and with a disappointed look, she thanked him for his help.

"It’s my duty, Princess. Have a wonderful day." He smiled, waving her off.

She exited the library and swiftly dashed toward the flower garden, nodding at everyone who greeted her along the way.

"Have any of you seen my Brother?"

"I’m sorry, Princess. We have not seen him since the morning." The maids shook their heads with a helpless smile.

Passing through the hallway, she stepped inside the garden, immediately greeting the beautiful wonder of nature. The garden was beyond majestic and words simply couldn’t describe their true beauty. For her though, it was a usual occurrence so, she approached the gardeners and inquired about her brother.

"I’m sorry, Princess. His Highness is not here." They shook their heads, offering some flower nectar instead. "Would you like to try some fresh moonblossom flower’s nectar?"

"Later, Grandma." she exited the garden, with a confused expression on her face. Strolling through the palace, she pondered deeply, "Where is he?"

"Good morning, Princess." Armes suddenly popped up beside her, greeting her with his usual warm smile.

"Good Morning, Uncle. Do you know where my brother is?"

"His highness is inside Her majesty’s room." His answer immediately lit up her face.

"Mother’s?"

"Yes."

"Thank you, Uncle!" She quickly dashed away, leaving toward her mother’s room with an excited smile on her face.

"It’s my duty, Princess." He replied, watching her fading figure with a smile on his face. ’Have a beautiful reunion, my lady.’

"Brother, Are you inside?" her voice was soft yet loud enough to reach inside.

"..."

"Brother! I’m coming in!" she twisted the doorknob and entered inside, her face visible with impatience and fake anger.

Upon entering, her gaze slowly wandered to Cassian, before landing on the beautiful woman, seated beside him on the bed.

Her body instantly froze up, eyes widening significantly with immense shock visible across her face. She blinked twice, wondering if she was dreaming at the moment.

"M-Mother...?" her voice cracked up, fresh tears dripping down her eyes, wetting the floor underneath.

Waa–!

With a tearful expression, she lunged forward and swiftly entered her embrace, hugging her tightly with her grasp.

"My baby, you’ve grown up." A gentle voice reached her ears, causing her to cry ever louder inside her embrace.

Seraphina patted Amelia’s head gently, with a loving smile across her face. She had a basic understanding of what happened to her and she felt confused by her situation, but she didn’t show it outside.

Gently cupping her little girl’s cheek, she leaned over lightly and matched her gaze.

"I’m here, Amy." she replied, her voice sounded incredibly soft inside Amelia’s ears.

"I-I..missed you, Mother."

"Me too, my child, me too..." she replied, embracing her gently.

Meanwhile, Both Cassian and Alexander stood beside the mother and daughter pair, watching them with a nostalgic smile on their faces. ’Now, the family feels complete.’
