Chapter 171: Chapter 171

Princess Eleanor walked back into her room with a smile on her face.

"Nia, did you give the letter to Sir Kit?" Princess Eleanor asked as she blinked her eyes while looking at Nia.

"Yes, Princess." Nia, nodded her head as she closed the door. "Duke Felix would most probably have received the letter."

"Good. I think that when we get a reply, we should be at the Royal Palace." Princess Eleanor shook her head as she sat on the bed and took a deep breath. "I did not think that the Princesses would be here."

Nia nodded her head. Who knew that the Princesses suddenly decided to come and visit House Beaumont. Although the Duke did not come personally, everything was arranged to perfection. It was just now that the Princesses went to their rooms that had been arranged by the head maid for the Princesses to rest.

"Did you manage to find out something?" Princess Eleanor’s tone was filled with seriousness. Her eyes looked at her lady-in-waiting who was walking towards her.

Nia sat down beside Princess Eleanor as she shook her head. "I do not know why the other princesses are here, but I could tell that Princess Vida is here to know if you are applying her cream. Her lady-in-waiting was persistent in finding it out from me."

"Her lady-in-waiting? Isn’t that Kelly?" Princess Eleanor asked in a questionable tone. She remembered that she had seen Lady Kelly with Nia. She was also the one who had delivered the cream to her.

"And is Princess Vida using the things that we have given her? After all, we did return her favor." Princess Eleanor’s lips curled up but her eyes betrayed the irritation hiding in their depths. The smile was filled with evilness.

"Yes, Princess Vida is using it. Although Kelly did not reply, but I could tell that the Princess did suffer from some allergies herself. But now with the help of the doctors who are present in the Royal Palace, she very quickly got better. But I think it is not completely cured yet."

"It will not be cured so easily. After all, she is just experiencing the taste of her own medicine." Princess Eleanor laughed. "We should not have ignored Lady Gisella’s words. This is really a battlefield for women and they are all hiding a knife behind their rosy red lips."

Princess Eleanor’s eyes sharpened. "Princess Vida is not simple. But I do not understand why is she so focused on me. What does she fear?"

"I think I have a slight inkling." Nia blinked as she said this. "Actually when you all were inside the room, all the ladies-in-waiting were placed in a room just beside yours. Although everyone was excited, but I heard that the Crown Prince was always busy in the Royal Palace. Although he visits and gives time to every Princess, but the amount of it is less. So they were shocked to hear that he especially came here to meet you in person."

Princess Eleanor nodded to show she got the meaning. It was understandable that the other Princesses would feel insecure if the Crown Prince came to meet her and stay here for so many days.

"But Kelly said something else as well." Nia whispered as she looked up at Princess Eleanor and continued, "She said that, ’It is so good that the Princess is staying at Duke Beaumont’s mansion. Does the Duke know Princess Eleanor well? Will they be supporting her?’ I was shocked when Kelly said those things. But then I realized that none of the other ladies-in-waiting were near me at that time, so Kelly had asked me in a whisper." 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

Nia’s eyes sharpened. "I do not know what is wrong but I have got a feeling that Princess Vida thinks that Duke Beaumont will be supporting the Princess in the long run."

"But isn’t this all dependent on the Priest?" Princess Eleanor laughed at Nia’s speculation. "Maybe they think that the Crown Prince is inclining towards me because the Grand Duke’s house is showing support. Is that the reason why Princess Vida was wearing the tear-shaped diamond brooch?"

Princess Eleanor murmured as she bit her lips in annoyance. "Nia, Princess Vida might have heard something from somewhere. I want to know who she meets and who is feeding her the idea that I might have the Grand Duke’s favor."

Nia turned serious as she nodded her head in understanding. "I will be meeting Kelly soon anyway. I will make sure to bring the information back."

"Okay. But Nia, you should rest now. I want to sleep too." Princess Eleanor looked at Nia, who nodded her head in understanding. Soon the room turned silent as Nia walked out.

Princess Eleanor took a deep breath as she looked out of the window. There was a beautiful view and the atmosphere was peaceful.

’Princess Vida is not simple. She is the only one targeting me. Is it because of the Crown Prince? But the decision to choose the future Crown Princess is by the will of God. The one revealing God’s will is Priest Erasmus. So why would Princess Vida think that I might be the one to get the position if the Grand Duke’s family has my back.’ Princess Eleanor bit her lips as she took a breath. ’This is crazy. Lady Gisella was right. I need to be careful. I can not make friends so easily. Why did I even bond with her? Just because we had been attacked? So silly of me.’

’But I cannot fight the thought. Why would Princess Vida think in such a way? She even wore the diamond to prove something to the Crown Prince. Does she want to prove that she will be loyal to the man? Does she feel like the Crown Prince is the one who will choose his companion in the end?’

Princess Eleanor took a deep breath as she got up from the bed and walked towards the window. She knew that Commander Colt would be nearby and she wanted his help. Soon her eyes looked off at a particular distance and she moved her hand.

Princess Eleanor could see the small movement from the trees as she smiled and turned her back. Princess Eleanor then moved towards the chair as she sat down. Her eyes narrowed as she saw Commander Colt walking toward her. He bowed his head as he said in a small tone, "Princess."

"Come. Have a seat." Princess Eleanor pushed a chair towards him as she smiled. Her eyes showed her innocence but Commander Colt knew that the Princess had something in mind and that made him nervous.

"Princess needs something," Commander Colt stated after he sat on the chair, a little further away from Princess Eleanor.

"Commander Colt is an intelligent man. No wonder you are so close to the Crown Prince."

Commander Colt felt nervous as he did not reply. He knew that he had to be strong and determined otherwise the Princess would play with his mind again. After all, he had already experienced Princess Eleanor getting her way using words. She knew how to play around by bending the words, and the meaning behind it.

"Commander Colt, where are we?" Princess Eleanor’s eyes darkened as she blinked at Commander Colt to see his reaction.

"At House Beaumont."

A smile played on Princess Eleanor’s lips as she nodded her head in agreement, "Correct. We are at the Grand Duke’s house, so you are my escort here. Isn’t it right? You are someone who is supposed to protect me and listen to me."

Commander Colt swallowed hard. He knew that he was walking right into the trap. But he could not avoid it. "Yes, Princess."

"So now that the Crown Prince is here, what is your stand on this? What do you think you will do if he asks you of something?" Princess Eleanor rested her chin on her hand as she smiled, "I am waiting, Commander Colt. I need an answer."

Commander Colt took a deep breath as he closed his eyes for a brief second before looking straight into Princess Eleanor’s eyes. "As the princess had said, we are at the Grand Duke’s house. We are at Beaumont Mansion. And as your escort, you are my master. So even if the Crown Prince asks me of anything, I will follow his orders as he is the Crown Prince of the Royal Palace. But if it comes to something sensitive or some information that the Princess would want to protect, I will do it, even if it requires telling small lies."

Commander Colt knew that the Princess would not be asking such questions if she did not need anything from him. She had played him the last time and that had made him realize that Princess Eleanor was willing to do whatever it takes to fulfill her wishes.

"Good," Princess Eleanor laughed as she nodded her head. Her eyes were filled with happiness as she continued, "So Commander Colt knows who his master is in the Beaumont Mansion. So as a master, I would like to give you a mission. Are you confident enough that you can fulfill it?"

Commander Colt’s body became alert as his face turned serious. He nodded his head as he looked straight into Princess Eleanor’s eyes. "Yes."
