The Wicked Female Is Wild and Scheming, Living in a Love Battlefield Every Day-Chapter 369 - 289: Fox-Like
"Even so, whether The Dragon Clan needs blue bricks remains unknown; it all depends on Horace Valerius’s decision."
Rhys Blackwood gazed at Soren Phoenix in the distance, who had picked out the blue bricks and was sending people away, and frowned as he continued, "And even if they need blue bricks, they might not necessarily trade them for Beast Crystals."
"No worries, we’re not going to lose out anyway."
Luna Sutton dusted off the brick dust from her hands and said coolly.
As soon as she finished her sentence, Soren Phoenix returned, looking flamboyant, and upon seeing her, he laughed brightly, "Luna~ They’ve already left, saying they’ll give an answer regardless of whether Uncle needs these things or not."
"That’s good."
Luna Sutton nodded slightly, turned, and the hem of her skirt swept over the blue bricks on the ground, "Everyone is tired today, let’s go back early and rest."
No longer in the mood to wander around, she took Kael, Kael Shadowend, and Frey back to the hut.
Tonight it’s Kian Sterling’s turn. Rhys Blackwood sensibly didn’t follow, but couldn’t help feeling jealous.
Soren Phoenix took in Rhys Blackwood’s gaze, shook his feather fan, and sauntered over to him, suddenly chuckling, "What, feeling jealous? I thought you’d be used to it by now."
"It’s none of your business."
Rhys Blackwood walked away without looking back.
"Ahhh~"
Soren Phoenix watched his departing figure, deliberately elongating his tone, "Some people may appear cold on the surface, but inside they’re sour enough to pickle fruit~"
Rhys Blackwood halted his steps, his sharp profile under the moonlight appearing even more striking, "Don’t you feel jealous inside?"
This question was like a dagger, piercing directly into Soren Phoenix’s heart.
He paused with the fan, a trace of awkwardness flashed in his peach blossom eyes, but soon he laughed dazzlingly again, "I, the Young Master, have a broad mind, unlike you vinegar-filled jars~"
The night wind blew, carrying a slight chill.
Rhys Blackwood couldn’t be bothered to engage further, turned around, and walked back.
From behind came Soren Phoenix’s suddenly serious voice, "Hey, Rhys Blackwood."
"Speak."
"When Luna gave Caleb Manning some food today..."
Soren Phoenix absentmindedly rubbed the fan rib with his fingers, "Did you see how Kian Sterling’s fox tail almost swept the ground bare?"
Rhys Blackwood’s steps continued, the moonlight stretched his shadow long, "He’s good at pretending."
The two walked one behind the other towards the dense forest, prepared to spend the night under an ancient tree.
"What do you think about Caleb Manning?"
Soren Phoenix gestured towards Caleb Manning, washing by the lake shore, and lowered his voice, "Do you think he has a chance to become one of us?"
Even though he hadn’t seen any love in Luna’s eyes towards Caleb Manning, the ambiguous attitude was unsettling.
Rhys Blackwood paused, the moonlight filtering through the leaves casting mottled shadows on his sharp profile.
He remained silent for a moment, his voice deep, "The way she looks at Caleb Manning is different from the way she looks at us."
Soren Phoenix paused with the fan, the Fiery Red Feather Robe gently fluttering in the night wind, "It’s different; looking at us is like seeing companions, looking at Caleb Manning is more like..."
"Looking at a handy tool."
Rhys Blackwood picked up the thread, a complex emotion flickering in his dark eyes.
The two exchanged a glance, then both looked towards the lake shore.
Caleb Manning rose from the water, droplets rolling down his well-defined muscles, glistening in the moonlight.
"Tools don’t get jealous."
Soren Phoenix suddenly chuckled, "Guess how he feels hearing Luna and us mate?"
Rhys Blackwood frowned slightly.
He certainly noticed, last night when Luna was close to him, Caleb Manning was hiding not far on an ancient tree, breaking several branches in frustration.
"Let’s go."
He withdrew his gaze from the lake shore, turned, and disappeared into the shadow of the dense forest, "There’s much to do tomorrow."
Soren Phoenix gave Caleb Manning bathing by the lake a deep look, laughed softly, and followed into the forest shadows.
They each picked an ancient tree to camp under for the night.
...
Inside the hut.
Kian Sterling was using a dry Beast Cloth to wipe his dripping long hair, heavy with moisture, his collar slightly open, revealing a refined-looking collarbone, clearly having just bathed.
Seeing Luna Sutton enter, he faintly smiled, put down the Beast Cloth, and approached her.
"Luna."
His smile was gentle as he handed over a cup of flower tea he had prepared long ago, "I added honey."
Luna Sutton took it and sipped; the sweetness was just right.
She was about to speak when Kian Sterling suddenly hugged her from behind, a fresh fox scent mixed with moisture enveloping her.
"You were really nice to Caleb Manning today."
His chin rested on her head, his voice gentle with laughter, "Even Malachi Arcanus noticed something was off."
She could tell the old fox was jealous, feeling helpless: "Stop being sarcastic, tonight I gave him food because Kael snatched the meat from his bowl, it meant nothing more. Besides, Caleb Manning works much more diligently than you."
