The Witcher – Uchiha Madara!-Chapter 217 – Dragons vs Wild Hunt.
[Chapter Size: 2000 Words.]
Third Person POV
Kaedwen.
...
...
The place was in intense cold while sculptures of motionless men, possibly dead, stood as the icy air left a mist in the air.
The giant men in skeletal-shaped armor passed by the ice sculptures of scholars, guards, knights, and sorcerers there, all dead.
None of them stood a chance when the portals appeared, as the beings that emerged there simply killed them without hesitation the moment they saw them.
They walked through the place while looking all around, analyzing the destroyed terrain.
Among them, there was a big one with an axe over 3 meters tall, as he touched the ground that hadn't been frozen by their presence, while another man, two and a half meters tall, stood beside him with a mage's staff, his eyes behind the skeletal helmet analyzing the terrain.
"There is no doubt... it's the power that escaped from us long ago..." the sorcerer said.
"So it's in this world..." the 3-meter giant commented, squeezing the burnt earth in his hand.
"We must start looking for who possesses the power," said the mage.
"Soon, we will possess that which was taken, the ancient blood... and use its power to invade other worlds..."
While the animals resembling dogs full of icy spikes ran around along with other soldiers in strange armor, something appeared in the dark sky as two enormous masses emerged above.
All the soldiers looked up in surprise as the two dragons were already upon them. They barely had time to react to the explosion of earth caused by their landing in the next moment, making all the soldiers there take a step back.
"What is that?!" the largest of them asked, grabbing his axe and looking at the dust cloud while the sorcerer beside him also looked on, surprised.
"Why did it get so cold here...?" a voice emerged as a massive head appeared, announcing the larger dragon, looking at the wild hunt.
"What happened here... they don't look like the humans we saw during the day..." another dragon, Ignavros, commented while looking at the group with the ice sculptures around the frozen camp.
"They were attacked... who are you? We are looking for a human named Madara Uchiha! Tell us everything you know about him, or else..." Vornaxis said in a threatening tone while showing his teeth to the wild hunt.
Then, before he could get a response, an axe flew toward his body, striking his shoulder and embedding itself with a freezing effect beginning to spread, but no more than 30 centimeters from where it hit the dragon. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
"Hm?" the gray dragon looked, moving his neck toward his shoulder as blood began to flow with the weapon stuck in his flesh.
"You have no right to demand anything from us, inferior creature." the elf responded in the ancient tongue, being the one who was with the mage earlier, walking past the soldiers of the wild hunt and pointing at the dragon, while the strange dogs began to growl at the dragon.
"Vornaxis?" Ignavros looked surprised that his companion had been struck by those strange beings, resembling humans in odd armor, while the gray dragon studied his wound.
Then he began to move his head back toward the Wild Hunt, his eyes anything but friendly.
"You attacked me... you dare attack me?! The great Vornaxis?!" the dragon emerged with the explosion of his roar, making all the icy mist retreat as the entire wild hunt took battle positions.
The place fell silent for a few seconds as the dragon waited for a response from the other side, but all he saw was them preparing for battle.
"So be it." he said, his eyes gleaming with malice.
Without warning, he simply leaned his head forward and spat a torrent of red flames advancing against the group, covering them like a tsunami of fire, while the 3-meter-tall man in front quickly placed both hands in front of himself, a shield forming to protect him before the flames could reach.
He was pushed back a few centimeters by the impact of the flames against his shield, and although he managed to hold, the others around him didn't stand a chance and were burned alive by the high temperature consuming them, with screams of elves and beasts.
Behind them was the larger group, and the very mage of the wild hunt created a shield large enough to protect most of them there, as the flames struck but did not pass the barrier, keeping many soldiers safe inside, unlike those outside who were consumed by the fire.
"Kill them, Elarad!" the elf shouted, using his own shield to protect himself from the flames, seeming to struggle against the dragon's attack, hoping the mage would cast a spell strong enough to kill the dragons.
"Yes." Elarad Vaaris, the mage chosen for this mission, nodded as he prepared his staff to attack.
However, a second dragon mouth opened and Ignavros also aided Vornaxis by unleashing even more flames.
The combined flames further increased the pressure and the elf in front soon felt the force pushing him back.
"This..." he murmured, seeing his shield begin to crack at that moment. If he had been able to foresee this end, with death approaching, he clearly wouldn't have provoked the dragons — but it was too late.
His shield broke, then the flames bathed him with force as his body was thrown back like a violent current, the flames entering every gap in his armor, consuming all his flesh with terrible pain — though he didn't feel it for long, as he died quickly.
The flames struck the second mage's shield, making him stop his incantation as he saw the shield wouldn't last much longer.
"Thaerien Vael'khir...
...is dead..." he murmured, placing his hands forward again, while everyone around him was deeply frightened with the shield about to break.
And it happened, the shield shattered while the mage conjured a smaller one, one that could withstand more force as everyone around him died to the flames.
Now only the mage remained against the flames of the two dragons, as he retreated step by step with his shield still resisting the fire's force. He quickly pointed backward, and a portal emerged — he retreated into it, holding the flames at bay until he was fully inside.
Flames bathed the area and even the ice sculptures were completely destroyed, along with the entire wild hunt — except for that mage who managed to escape.
The dragons finally ceased their fire as they looked over the area bathed in wild flames.
"One of them escaped..." Vornaxis remarked with disdain, approaching his shoulder and removing the axe — it hadn't hurt him much, but it was certainly a blow to his pride once again, seeing a small scar on that side of his body.
"What do we do now?" Ignavros asked.
"We continue the search. Everyone here is already dead... There's no one left to ask about the human we're looking for." Vornaxis said, looking over all the fallen bodies of the wild hunt.
"I'll keep this... to remind me that I'll kill every human I see wearing this armor." he said as all the burned bodies began to levitate upwards, then vanished, with Vornaxis using some of his magic to store the dead bodies in another space, being able to do so with non-living things.
He returned to Ignavros.
"Let's pick a place to sleep and resume the search for the human tomorrow." he said.
"Yes... to think that these humans are so weak... that Madara managed to withstand our combined flames, but these... were killed so easily and quickly..." Ignavros commented.
"That's why we're hunting him, we want our revenge. Now let's go." Vornaxis said while the other nodded, then both shot into the sky the next moment.
Two days passed as the dragons flew across the continent, and the news of what had happened shocked everyone, for all who had been investigating the place had died in a very strange way, with signs of freezing throughout the area, while the ground trampled by the dragons was quite evident, the place also burning. Some claimed there were more people there, while others said it was just the dragons killing those they had left alive earlier that day.
Unfortunately, no one survived to tell the story, and the dragons were considered a great threat in the human realms, with word spreading that if they were seen in any kingdom, they should be attacked after what happened in the destroyed area — with broken and burned bodies for those who still managed to leave something behind, for what hadn't turned to ash.
In front of a mountain with a huge gate, four dwarves were watching with suspicious eyes, while two people stood before them on horseback.
"You're saying you want to request passage through the mountains, through our kingdom? Don't you think that's a bit much to ask, Witcher?" one of the dwarves raised an eyebrow at Geralt, who stood with Ciri, her hood up though her eyes gave her away.
"Yes... you know how dangerous it is for non-humans... We're avoiding the main roads and would prefer to pass through your kingdom if it's not too much trouble, after all, we're being hunted in Kaedwen and you must know that well." Geralt argued.
"We do know that, Witcher, and our king knows even more. We're here precisely to receive companions fleeing from those cursed humans!" the dwarf replied with a growl of disgust.
"Then may we have permission to pass through your mountain? We'll pay for it." Geralt said as Ciri remained silent.
"What do you think?" one dwarf asked another.
"A Witcher and a human girl or disguised elf..." It wasn't hard to tell that beside Geralt was Ciri.
"What if he's with a princess or something like that, kidnapped? We could be in real trouble." another commented.
"Witchers don't walk around with princesses, you idiot. Either way, we can take him to our king, he can decide what to do with them." That was what they ultimately decided, as all nodded.
The gate was quickly opened while one of the four dwarves began walking inside, asking them to follow.
The entrance was wide enough for a human on horseback to pass through, and the path as well, so they simply followed as the dwarf walked ahead.
Ciri stayed silent while touching a kunai dagger at her waist, being Madara himself transformed to avoid drawing attention — three people passing through the dwarven kingdom without issue, as Geralt had said he would handle it, having someone known in the king's court.
This king was not someone recognized on the continent — quite the opposite, no human king would accept a dwarven king living here, yet the dwarves still maintained their own hierarchy within the mountain. As the mountain's leader, he was the king of the place.
And they still needed his permission to pass, while Madara insisted that they didn't need to kill everyone just to reach the other side, which is why he chose this path, knowing the alternative would be far more complicated and bring more conflict.
In any case, they spent twenty minutes traveling the path, passing by several dwarves mining with pickaxes in the mountain's many tunnels, while Ciri cast a simple ice spell to cool her body slightly, as it was very hot inside the mountain.
Eventually, they arrived at a large area like a grand hall, with at least eighty dwarves present, armed, while in the center sat a massive chair, where a dwarf stared at them.
Ciri and Geralt left their horses behind as they entered the place, heading to meet the king of the dwarves in that mountain.
