The Wolfless Luna's Revenge: Returning With His Secret Twins-Chapter 272
[SAMANTHA’s Point of View]
“Diana? Diana!”
“It’s okay, Samantha. She is healing. Look!”
I looked down at the wound. The veins in my head were pounding, making it hard for me to focus. I watched how new tissues formed on my daughter’s back and healed the wound. I should feel relieved knowing that Diana tried to fight back, but realizing the kind of pain she suffered made my stomach tight.
Devon’s eyes widened the second he saw his sister fall into my arms unconscious, and that’s when he screamed at the top of his lungs, pouring all the power that had left in him before he fell unconscious as well.
“Devon!”
“I will take care of him, Samantha! Look! The Shadow Wolf King is getting weaker! We have to do something to stop him while we have the chance!” Killian snarled as he picked up my little Devon from the ground and examined him for any serious injuries. When the MoonStone Alpha’s eyes softened, I knew my son was alright. That he was alive.
“We have to do something to stop the monster’s transformation from completing.” There was despair in Killian’s voice, knowing that if we ever fail this, all the pack in this region—No. The shifter’s world would be in danger, and there would be no chance of saving our land, our people, and family’s from the apocalypse that was coming.
“Thank you, Diana, Devon...” I looked down at my twins with a smile and teary eyes as I caressed Diana’s little face. “Both of you are so brave. You make me and your father so proud of your courage to help the pack.”
Killian stared at me with gentle eyes as I took Devon from him and lay my twins behind a giant boulder where I knew they could be safe. The MoonStone’s gaze didn’t leave me until I walked towards him with a stiff jaw and sharp eyes.
“What are you going to do, Samantha?” Killian asked, a little nervous at the anger that was shown in my eyes as I walked my way in front of the altar, my liquid golden eyes glowing like ethereal fire, ready to unleash its wrath.
I stood in front of the altar, releasing the power that had been throbbing inside my body since I entered the cursed place. The power that had awakened in the presence of the dark matter, like it was telling me to use it to stop the darkness, which wanted to swallow the Silver Crescent whole and destroy everything that surrounded it.
The kids managed to weaken the beast.
Now it was time for me, Killian, and Dominic to end it!
As the power surged through my veins, forming a dazzling golden light in both the palms of my hands, that’s when Killian found out that I was ready to give my everything to stop the beast from completing its transformation and destroying my husband. I closed my eyes slowly, feeling every pulse of it in my very veins like a fuel that burns in me.
Making me more powerful than ever.
“Samantha! Don’t put yourself in danger like this! The twins still need you!” Killian snarled as he stood beside me, with his palms open as well.
“Stop it, Killian! This is something that only I can do!” I snarled back at him as I threw him a daggering look. “You stay with Devon and Diana, please!”
“As if I would let you sacrifice yourself, Sam!” he smirked. There was bitterness in his eyes that I couldn’t fathom. "I didn’t come this far just to watch you die." I didn’t work hard just to let you kill yourself here, you understand? We will fight this thing. You, Dominic, and I! We will all come out of this g*dd*mned place alive!”
I glanced at my husband, who was still fighting the beast hard so it couldn’t get to the kids. Dominic’s eyes were crimson red, giving him everything to stop the beast from going to the altar and completing the ritual.
“Help me, then.” I looked at Killian with a calmer, pleading expression on my face. ”Help us stop the Shadow Wolf King, Killian!”
“You know, you don’t have to ask.” Killian grinned. He opened the palm of his hand and, in the middle of it, formed a ball of green light that surged from his chest down to his arms and hands.
“Let’s do it, Samantha.”
Now that Killian was helping me, I channeled half of my strength to our bond link, giving my husband more strength to fight the beast. I could sense his presence in every corner of my mind—the determination to kill the beast. To protect me and the twins, and his desire to end this war that was making his people and his family suffer.
I felt Dominic’s desperation to end this fight.
“Focus, Sam!” Killian yelled at me, noticing that my mind seemed distracted with all the emotions that started to flood in my chest.
We poured our strength to stop the ritual while Killian tried to focus and channeled his power to the Moon Stone. Looking from behind my shoulders, I saw how the beast roared in pain. Its face started to deteriorate, as if it were rotting from its very core.
“Sam! Look out!”
Adrenaline kicked in, and I managed to avoid a knife that was aimed at my neck. Behind me was a tall man, wearing a long, thick robe. My hand caught the wrist of my attacker and quickly figured out who it was.
“Richard Bennette! You old f*cker!” A low growl ripped in my throat as I glared at him with menacing liquid golden eyes. I didn’t let go of his hand. Instead, I twisted it until he yelled in pain and let go of the blade that was in his hand.
“You have to die, Samantha! You can’t stop this!” he snarled back at me with wide, crazy, evil eyes. “None of you can stop this!”
“Then watch me.” I hissed at him.
I caught his throat with one of my hands. I took a blade from the scabbard that was hooked on my belt and dragged it deep into Bennette’s chest.
A gurgling sound escaped from his throat as his eyes widened when he looked down at the blade that was stabbed in him. With a slow move of his head, his eyes then stared at me as if he couldn’t believe what I just did.
“This is for all the pain you caused me and my family, old man.” I hissed again as I glared at him, full of hatred. “This time, I will make sure you are dead!”
One push and Richard Bennette fell on the ground with a loud thud. My focus was distracted when I saw the deteriorating Shadow Wolf King start to go frantic as it let out a powerful roar and slammed my husband against the stone wall of the underground mausoleum.
“Dominic!”
I didn’t let myself panic this time and transferred my remaining strength through our bond link. The power of my bloodline and Dominic’s resonated, releasing a bright silver light that covered my husband’s body like moonlight. Dominic’s silver fur shone, blinding the monster as it flinched away from him, giving Dominic the chance to land a final blow as he slashed the beast’s throat with his razor-sharp claws.
The next thing I saw was the head of the Shadow Wolf King flying on the other side of the wall. It rolled down the floor with its tongue sticking out. Its glasslike eyes were staring blankly at me until the head and the body continued to deteriorate into nothing but dust.
“Dominic!”
I quickly rushed to my husband’s side as he shifted back to his human form. He was so weak that he could barely move after he leaned his back against it.
“The kids...” he panted weakly. Cold sweat dripped down his dirt-smudged face. “Are Devon and Diana alright?”
“Yes, they are fine. They are safe,” I smiled at him and then wiped his face with my hand gently, staring deeply into his hazel eyes. “They did well in making the Shadow Wolf King weak. They are amazing.”
“Just like their Mom,” Dominic reached for my face and caressed it with the back of his fingers, so gentle like I was some kind of fragile thing. “I am happy that you and the twins are safe. You did so well, my love.”
“No. We did all so well.” I answered as tears started to well up in my eyes, and I had to bite my lower lip to prevent it from trembling. I did my best to keep my voice from croaking as I spoke. "We all did our best." We stopped the Shadow Wolf King from destroying the pack and unleashing its power. If it weren’t for you. If you weren’t able to hold him back, I don’t think the kids, and I would be able to stop the ritual.”
Dominic smiled. Emotions swam in his gentle eyes as he pulled me into a deep kiss. His warmth and the softness of his lips brought me another kind of strength. I couldn’t help but kiss him back and hold him tight in my arms.
We were distracted from the happiness that we shared when Dominic and I heard Killian’s groan and a loud thud as he fell on the ground like he was about to pass out.
“Killian! Oh my goddess, what happened to you!? Are you alright?!” I asked as I pulled Dominic’s arm around my shoulder and helped my husband get up. Dominic gently told me that he was fine and that he would go check on the twins, so I went running straight to Killian to check what happened.
“I’m fine.” Killian managed to respond despite the pain that was visible on his face. His face was so pale, and his hand was so cold when I touched it.
“No, you are not okay. We have to get you out of this place and call the healers. You drained so much of your spirit energy. You need to be treated right away!”
“There is no need for that, Sam. You are way overthinking about me again—”
He wasn’t able to finish the next words he wanted to utter when Killian coughed so hard and threw up. Purple blood splattered on his hand as he tried to cover his mouth.
My eyes widened in horror. I didn’t want to think that the curse had completely poisoned his blood, but based on what I saw, there was no doubt that Killian was dying from it.
“We have to get you back to Silver Crescent.” I panted in fear as I watched him struggle to breathe. “RIGHT NOW!”
