Chapter 102: To Find Companions (1)

It was a face that was too distinct from his own. The only thing they shared was the pale skin complexion, and nothing else. His hair was short, and there were no troublesome but familiar bangs to hide most of his expression. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖

What was the greatest difference: their eyes. This body had a pair of innocent hazel eyes, a great contrast with Ayen’s indifferent dark pupils.

Just by seeing his face, Ayen knew that he might have entered someone’s body. For how, it certainly has to do with the mana disturbance around the association building.

What Ayen was not sure of was whether it was an illusion or the real world. Also, where were Devion and Khal? Did they also enter a body inside this world?

He had so many questions, and unfortunately, the answers seemed harder to find for a short time. In the meantime, Ayen needed to act normally.

If he could do that. At least, not suspicious enough that these people suspected that another soul was inside Aurelle’s body.

Acting was hard, especially if he did not have any memories of this body. Ayen could only try his best. Once he gained further understanding of this world, he would try to find his espers.

Ayen was confident that wherever they were, they would also do their best to find him. He did not know where this confidence was coming from; Ayen only trusted them.

Once he confirmed his own state, Ayen washed up and left the bathroom. Although he planned to act as if there was nothing wrong, Ayen could not act as Aurelle either.

He only needed to still be himself, lest the others become more suspicious. Fortunately, Ayen was quiet enough to be mistaken for not having recovered from what happened to him.

"Son," the woman, Aurelle’s mother, entered the room again and smiled. "I know you’re not hungry, but I still cooked for you. See if you can eat even a little bit."

Ayen was not really used to such motherly affection. For a moment, he could only stare at him, and he snapped out of it a few seconds later.

He looked away and nodded his head. He did not know what to call her. Since he wanted more information, he could not be cooped up inside the room.

Ayen agreed to eat, and the woman finally sighed in relief. Led by her, Ayen went downstairs and entered the dining room. His eyes continued to observe his surroundings.

He soon realized that the house was bigger than expected; this family seemed a little well-off. The place and furniture were also not out of place with what he was familiar with.

So, this world was the same, or at least inspired by it. Then, it was easier for Ayen to act normally.

When he arrived, a few people were also in the dining room, including the ’brother’ of this body. He looked up and sneered before continuing to eat.

Ayen was more than familiar with his attitude. He grew up in a large clan and met people with similar attitudes. This brother seemed jealous of Aurelle.

As for why? It was not hard to understand.

The mother pulled a chair and gently waved to Ayen.

"Come here, son." She also began to put the dishes around or near the seat meticulously. Ayen noticed the subtle frown in the brother’s expression.

He was jealous.

Ayen already confirmed it, but did not bother with it much. In any case, he was not the real Aurelle and would not know what the real one would feel if he knew.

As for the mother’s affection, Ayen really did not feel anything.

He silently walked to the offered seat and sat on it. Ayen slowly began to eat, not making any fuss. He was more used to this atmosphere, actually, saved by the motherly affection.

Auxia’s glare did not affect him in the slightest.

The woman wanted to stay, but someone called for her, and so he reluctantly left and instructed a servant to serve Ayen.

Ayen inwardly sighed in relief when she finally left. He could put up with more of Auxia’s attitude than her affection. As for the servant, he just let him stand by his side without giving any orders.

He knew that he would not be able to eat in peace; Ayen preferred it that way. He needed information more than to eat his fill.

"You really look like an idiot now." Auxia began his insult again.

Ayen paused and looked at him. Inwardly, he was not taking someone who only knew to throw the word ’idiot’ as an insult seriously at all.

The number of times he was insulted was enough for Ayen’s emotions to harden. Compared to them, Auxia’s words were like they just came from a cute child.

"What are you looking at?" Auxia glared at Ayen. "Don’t be cocky just because Mom spoils you."

Ayen remained silent. He merely looked at Auxia. His gaze, which was different from Aurelle’s, made Auxia intimidated inside, and so he was even more infuriated.

"Why did you even—" He paused, then glanced at the servant. "You, leave us alone."

The servant hesitated for a moment, but Ayen glanced at her.

"Listen to him."

Only then did she nod and leave. This made Auxia’s frown deepen. Even mere servants dared to not listen to him! His eyes sharply glared at Ayen.

When they were alone, Auxia did not hold back any longer.

"How did you survive?" Auxia whispered.

Ayen’s expression remained unchanged. However, inwardly, he sighed in relief. This was what he wanted, for others to talk with him.

"Tch. Isn’t it because of that Esper? I really commend you. You can seduce anyone." Auxia shook his head as though he were truly amazed, but the way he clenched his teeth showed he was angry.

Ayen criticized him again. This brother was not that smart. How could he scheme with his brother? Maybe someone used him?

He set it aside for now. Although he was technically Aurelle now, it was only temporary. What was more important was to know the situation and find Khal and Devion, not to uncover the plot against Aurelle.

"Who’s the esper you’re talking about?" Ayen finally spoke to him; this made Auxia laugh as if he had won.

He thought Ayen had been triggered by his words, so he responded.

"That B-class esper from the institute. If I remember the latest news, he’s dead now. As for you, you survive."
