Chapter 150: The Horror Under The Sea (12)

"Big Brother!" Aegi immediately jumped into Ayen’s arms the moment he appeared. His two small arms wrap around Ayen’s neck, round eyes twinkling.

He looked so excited that Ayen momentarily forgot that he almost stumbled when Aegi jumped on him. He was surprised. Ayen stabilized his hold on the child.

Strangely, despite his body being too lazy to move, he still managed to pull some strength to carry Aegi.

After his initial excitement, Aegi finally noticed the difference this time. "Uhn? The other big brothers?" He looked around and failed to see them. "Not here?"

Ayen began to walk towards the table at the center of the lake, holding Aegi in his arms.

"No. They have something to do."

"Without big brother?"

"Yes. I can’t help them."

Their conversation was too simple; Aegi was not one to ask more complicated questions other than that. Sitting on the chair, Ayen leaned and let the comforting breeze relieve his fatigue.

Ayen felt even drowsier because of the peaceful atmosphere. It seemed that almost a day of sleep was not enough to recover completely.

"Aegi," Ayen looked at Aegi, who was sitting in his lap. "Can you create a simple house?"

He suddenly wanted to lie down.

"Simple house?"

Ayen nodded and described it to him. Aegi quickly understood and got to work. As this was his independent space, he could create the house with his thoughts alone.

A one-story house was created just beside the lake. It looked simple, but it gave a calm impression.

He wondered if he could do the same, as they were in the contract. Thinking so, he thought of the house having a garden at the side.

"Wow!" Aegi clapped. "It’s beautiful!" The flowers extended and spread to the house and gave a different appeal. It was as if it had been blessed by the god of nature itself.

Ayen confirmed his assumption. His reactions were not as excessive as Aegi’s, but he thought they were also amazing. If one could create something from nothing in the real world, too...

He shook his head at such ridiculous thoughts, thinking his mind was too distracted at the moment.

"Let’s check the house."

Ayen did not carry Aegi this time. He was cute, but also a bit heavy. His strength was very limited at this moment. Aegi had no issue either and swayed their joined hands, enjoying the moment.

Perhaps he truly missed someone to talk to. The world Aegi created was filled with life, but it was not real in the end. The child must still feel lonely.

Ayen knew that feeling more than anyone and thought that was the reason he empathized with Aegi the most.

"Want to sleep with me?" He asked, looking at the child in the eye.

He saw how Aegi’s eyes lit up as though his invitation were something to be excited about.

"Yes. I want to!"

Ayen pinched his cheek softly before he entered the house. He could not help but turn and look ahead.

He hoped... they were safe. His heart was not pounding with worry; he was confident of their strength.

It was just strange. Ayen might have been so accustomed to their presence that... he was already missing them.

Fortunately, he was too exhausted, and Ayen drifted to sleep not long after.

At the same time, Devion and Khal entered a palace underwater. It was separated by a barrier that prevented the water from entering.

"I can’t believe how difficult it is to find this place," Devion complained. His whole body was drenched, making him even angrier. Fortunately, they did not bring Ayen.

This might traumatize him and not accompany them on dungeon raids ever again.

The palace was at the lowest layer of the sea. Right, there were a few more layers that they needed to pass through.

"The owner of this place is sick in the head."

Absolutely crazier than him for sure. Devion had already dried himself, but he still held a grudge. Khal glanced around, only listening to his rants.

"Too quiet," Khal commented. They were not obstructed on the way here. He thought the monster had concentrated his power in his territory, but to think that nothing was here as well.

"He’s injured. He might be focusing on recovery." 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

Their footsteps echoed, the only sounds in the whole place. Devion put his hand on the wall and felt the intricate design.

Devion was more interested in the design of the palace than the battle that was about to take place. He was with Khal, so there was nothing to worry about. He might have to struggle slightly fighting an SS-class alone, but teaming up with Khal made it easier.

Unsurprisingly, the interior of the palace was huge, almost endless. The owner had such an obsession with unnecessary space. They were not in a hurry either. Now that Ayen was in a safe place, they could afford to spare some time.

The same was not true of the monster.

The moment that the two set foot inside, their movements were already monitored. Someone was watching them; the whole place was like an extended body to it.

"Detestable humans..." he grunted. Compared to the form he showed at the first confrontation, he had a physical body this time.

Its body occupied almost the whole room, the tentacles coiled everywhere, dark substance oozing out of them. Its countless eyes flickered as it hissed.

It was a massive monster resembling an octopus, but its tentacles and eyes were almost a hundred or two, and half of them were injured, with some cut off.

The influence of Khal and Devion’s body was tormenting its body, and on its chest was a huge scar that began to show signs of opening.

It’s the first injury, which it wanted to heal but failed because of meddlesome humans.

Now, they even pursue it in its territory.

"The panacea is not with them." The way he called Ayen was such a huge disrespect; the monster only saw Ayen as something that could heal it and nothing more.

It hissed, looking at the two with hatred. It wanted to tear the two to shreds and snatch the human panacea to recover. Yet, its tentacles could not help but shiver as the two humans became so close to where it was.

The humans... were a threat to its life.

Just when did mere humans become so terrifying?
